Bubbly Shower Gel from Lush

bubbly-shower-gel-new

When 2016’s Halloween and Christmas line leaked online and I first see Bubbly Shower Gel I honestly thought, ‘ooo a new shower gel,’ then moved on to looking at other things.

If I would have known it was Celebrate scented I’d have literally screamed my house down, I also wouldn’t have completely forgotten about it seconds after seeing it… DOH!

There are a few Lush scent families that I claim are my favourite. It is so hard to choose just one, as there are so many beautiful Lush fragrances on offer however, anything Celebrate scented is always a hit with me.

I have given up hope of ever getting hold of a bottle of Celebrate Shower Gel, I think it is on every Lushies desperately in search of list BUT because of copyright issues that I don’t really understand, it cannot be produced in the UK.

Although the Bubbly shower gel isn’t the same as Celebrate shower gel, it does soften the blow to the Celebrate Shower Gel void that I have in my life. *sigh*

Some argue that this shower gel isn’t quite the same as the other ‘celebrate’ products, I can see what people mean but all in all it is 100% a member of the Celebrate family according to my nose.

Bubbly Shower Gel is a lot thicker in consistency than I had anticipated. It doesn’t pour out of the bottle it gloops. Its texture reminds me of honey that you get in the squeezy bottles.

I know the word ‘gloop’ isn’t the most inviting for a shower gel, I however really like its gloopy composition. It’s an identical consistency to Lush’s Plum Rain shower gel , thick yet silky smooth.

A little of the Bubbly shower gel goes a very long way and it lathers up effortlessly. As you work it onto your body the scent really hits you.

It’s a delicate fragrance that is very warming and relaxing. In my imagination the scent makes me think of family meal times. Especially those where we are celebrating Christmas, a birthday etc. It’s quite a tangy citrus and it really is such a beautiful scent.
bubbly-extraThe smallest amount of Bubbly shower gel leaves my skin bright, soft and perfectly moisturised.

Although I have several shower gel and cream favourites, I’d go as far as to say that Bubbly is one of the best Lush shower gels that I have ever used.

If I ended up in hell and was only allowed to take one shower gel with me, Bubbly would make it into the shortlist without a doubt.

Its scent stays with me all day. My skin adores it, as does my nose. I have both the liquid and solid versions of Celebrate perfume a dab or a spritz of this intensifies its fragrance yet is still soft enough to not become over powering.

I will be buying several bottles of this before Christmas has finished and I will miss it in all of the shops and online once it has gone.

I hope they decide to bring it out next year too and maybe some more Celebrate scented products, a return of the Celebrate Body Lotion and First Snow Dusting Powder would go down a treat.

Bubbly really is a beautiful shower gel, so much so that I may even go all out and buy a kg bottle of it!

Plum Rain Shower Gel from Lush

img_8653
When I very first see a photograph of the Plum Rain Shower Gel on Instagram, it took me by complete surprise. I hadn’t heard anything about it being released at all. This made it my new, number one must have Lush product.

As soon as I could, I texted my sister in law to let her know I would be sending her on a Lush Oxford Street errand at her earliest convenience. At the time of its debut (July 2016) it was an Oxford Street exclusive so could only be bought from that one store. Luckily for the rest of the world, it is now available exclusively online too.

Plum Rain shower gel is a deep and sexy purple. As soon as the parcel that was sent up from London by my sister in law arrived I grabbed Plum Rain ready to sniff it. I had decided prior to sniffing it that it must share its scent with the Mumkin Bubble Bar. I was however, wrong. Very wrong!

Its scent is completely different from anything I have tried from Lush before. It’s a very sour fruity smell BUT not at all unpleasant. It didn’t take me very long to fall in love with it at all.

Plum Rain shower gel is quite a thick gel. It is very similar in consistency to the likes of Lush’s Bubbly and Hot Toddy shower gels. A little of the product goes a very long way, the smallest amount of shower gel lathers up effortlessly and it is as you work it in your hands in preparation to cleanse your body that the scent really hits you. creditedPRSG3

It is one of the most interesting scents Lush have on offer and I cannot wait for them to bring out more products that share its scent. The scent is refreshing, warm and so very inviting, I can never get enough of it.

Although the Plum Rain shower gels scent doesn’t stay on your skin for very long after getting out of the shower or bath, it does linger in your hair if used as a shampoo. In regards to my skin, Plum Rain is incredibly hydrating, after using it my skin feels silky smooth.

I am honestly so pleased with Plum Rain, it has taken pride of place in amongst my other much loved Lush shower gels and creams.

Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar from Lush

Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar

The Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar shares its scent with one of my favourite Lush shower gels, The Olive Branch.

I still can’t get over the fact that I didn’t make the connection between the two products until someone pointed it out to me in store. I had been raving about both products for what seems like forever, never realising what they had in common. DOH!

My nose is quite simply, tragically talentless at joining the dots when it comes to scent recognition.

After writing any of my Lush reviews I like to take a look at what other people have thought about that same product. After doing a search for other reviews on Google, I sometimes find myself wondering if we had even been writing about the same product. I like how different products appeal to different people, it’s what keeps me hooked.

Holding out on reading other people’s reviews before writing my own helps me ensure that what I have written is all of my own personal opinion. I don’t like the idea of my review being swayed by what I have read elsewhere… I don’t even like to watch product demos as I find the element of surprise makes it all so much more exciting.

After originally concluding my Pop in the Bath review I was very pleased to see that my all time favourite Lush extraordinaire, Jen from All Things Lush UK had actually started her review of the Pop in the Bath in exactly the same way as I did. I therefore simply just had to add this to my review – it’s nice to hear that the best of the best didn’t link up the scents straight away either. Lush are obviously the masters of disguise! 😉

Pop In The Bath OLD.png

Last year the Pop in the Bath bubble bar had a huge makeover. Unfortunately I haven’t got both versions to hand, I have however found a photo of the earlier design in an old Lush catalogue (see above photo.)

Pop in the Bath’s reformulation has turned what was a somewhat dull coloured bubble bar into a much more exciting, brighter and bolder product. Currently Lush have both a blue and pink version of the Pop in the Bath bubble bar. The blue ones have pink flowers on top of them and vice versa.

The only negative point I have in regards to the Pop in the Bath bubble bar is its small size. I am however spoilt when it comes to bubble bars as I started off with the likes of the big and bold Comforter, Brightside and Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds. What Pop in the Bath lacks in size it well makes up for with its scent and vibrancy. It’s a bubble bar that has made me see that bigger isn’t always better.

Being completely honest (as always) I will admit that I much prefer the Pop in the Bath name compared to The Olive Branch. Both share the same scent, I did not know this for the longest amount of time. I want to let people know to never judge a product by its name. I totally overlooked The Olive Branch as the word ‘Olive’ just didn’t appeal to me in amongst all of the fruity, shimmery and floral product alternatives.

Pop in the Bath has been dubbed as ‘practically perfect in every way,’ and I wholeheartedly back that statement. It has the most inviting, soft zesty fragrance that doesn’t reflect the word ‘Olive’ at all. There is no other bubble bar quite as welcoming as Pop in the Bath, it quite literally makes you want to Pop right in the bath and never come out again!

Popinthebathpinkglitter.png

I say this a lot but I think Pop in the Bath/The Olive Branch products have my favourite Lush scent of all time. So much so that when The Olive Branch solid perfume appeared on the Lush Kitchen menu this week (27th June 2016-3rd July 2016) I ordered a couple and I plan to wear it on my wedding day next year. I am so excited!

I am hoping that after the wedding, everytime I get a whiff of the Pop in the Bath scent I will be reminded of mine and my husband to-be’s special day.

I can easily get 4 generously bubbled baths out of the 1 bubble bar. I however can get a little greedy and completely over indulge by using half of it for one bath instead… The first time I ever used it I ended up using a whole one. I couldn’t find my way out of the bathroom for bubbles! as fun as that was I realise now that it was a little wasteful.

Pop in the Bath is 100% a member of my top 5 list of bubble bars. Try it, you will not regret it!
