Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly from Lush

Papa Noel Face Wash Jelly.pngWhen I first see that Lush Cosmetics had created a Face Wash Jelly I was a little apprehensive. Don’t get me wrong, I trust Lush and all of their ideas completely, it just took me a bit of time to get my head around.

When it comes to my face I am always wary, I have the craziest skin that can never make its mind up. One day it can be crying out for hydration, the next I’m spotty and then sometimes it can also be super greasy and then the vicious circle begins again.

Declaring that my skin is the ‘combination’ type is the understatement of the century, it’s indecisive, annoying and a nightmare to keep on top of.

The first time that I actually see the Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly was at the Lush Creative Showcase 2016. I was still uncertain at the thought of trying it, I had however had the very same feelings before I tried Lush’s shower jellies, with this at the back of my mind, I didn’t hesitate to pick up a pot. After all, it was such an interesting and new concept that I couldn’t not pick one up, even if it was just for the novelty factor…

As you can see from the photograph above Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly is in fact a mask of some sorts. Some people have chopped theirs up into pieces using a chunk a time, I have however left mine all together – for now anyway.

It has a refreshing citrus scent although it’s not quite as tangy as the likes of the Snowman Shower Jelly. I am a huge fan of all things citrus and although Papa Noël is by all means a citrus scent it’s slightly more delicate than I am used to from Lush. This could however be a  positive point. After all, the product is for your face so, (no pun intended) the less in your face the scent is, the better.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first used this face wash. It lathered up within seconds and left my face feeling well cleansed, brighter and smoother. I found that it was really good at clearing out my most troublesome and stubborn pores too.

What has also impressed me is how long it has lasted. I have used it several times now and there doesn’t appear to be any signs of it getting any smaller. One of the things that won me over with the shower jellies is their staying power. Papa Noël, is just as I had originally described my first shower jelly Santa’s Belly, almost indestructible!

I am very, very surprised at how well I got on with this brand new face wash jelly. I wasn’t expecting very much at all, I thought it was just a novelty product that would be a prop for a good selfie or two.

After I have used it my face feels really clean, it seems to have helped the condition of my skin too, since using it I still get the odd dry patch but it seems to keep any excess oil at bay throughout the whole day.

As I have said, I am really fussy when it comes to products for my face and I really wasn’t expecting such positive results from the Papa Noël face wash jelly. I am sorry Lush, I underestimated you again and by now I really, really should know better…

One thing I would like to add to this review is that I wouldn’t recommend using Papa Noël every day, this is however how I feel about all cosmetic products. I find that alternating cosmetic products keeps your skin on its toes. There’s nothing worse than a product that works great for you but because you use it so often your skin begins to get so used to it that it doesn’t do such a great job anymore.

Overall I am thoroughly impressed, when it comes down to skin care it’s near on impossible for me to be so impressed. I am no longer apprehensive in regards to further releases of Lush face wash jellies, I can’t wait to see if Lush have any more on the horizon?

Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie from Lush

Yog Log Roulade.pngLush’s Roulade Shower Smoothies do a very similar job to the Lush body conditioners such as Christingle or Snow Fairy. Lush describe them as ‘luxurious moisturisers for smooth, soft, and scented skin.’ They are however slightly more solid than the body conditioners and come pot free, stored in a biodegradable shrink wrap instead.

Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie is my very first ever Lush Roulade, I’ve had samples of others before but this is the first one that I have actually bought. It supposedly shares its scent with the Yog Nog bath bomb so I decided to give it a go.

I was so disappointed when I found out that the Yog Nog bath bomb wasn’t going to be a part of the regular Christmas line this year. It isn’t until you can’t get hold of something anymore that you realise how much you did in fact like it.

When I first got my 100g chunk of Yog Log I was a little disappointed by its scent, it has similarities to the Yog Nog bath bomb but it’s just not quite the same. Pushing this disappointment aside and looking at it as a brand new product, I was still keen to try it.

Seeing as this was my first ever Lush Roulade, I wasn’t really sure how best to use it. I’d seen demos of people grabbing the whole thing and lathering it all over themselves and I had also seen people cut theirs into portions, storing them in an old Lush pot.

I decided to portion out mine as I wanted it to last, I feared if I was to submerge it all in water that it would go out of date a lot quicker. I found this strange as I have the complete opposite attitude when it comes to the Lush shower jellies.

I think maybe I just feel that the roulades are creamier than the jellies and therefore have a shorter shelf life. I however have no idea if this is true as all Lush products are crafted to self preserve, using the whole thing could very well be an okay way to do it, I guess it just all boils down to personal preference.

Yog Log becomes workable very quickly, the heat of the water softens it turning it into a gentle and skin-soothing paste, massaging it gently into your skin is so relaxing.

The scent at this point really hits you too. Although it’s still not quite on par with the Yog Nog bath bombs scent I decided while using it that I really liked the product.

Once I have finished I hose myself down and pat myself dry with a towel. My skin smells just like biscuits and is so soft to touch. The scent doesn’t linger on your skin for very long but it stays healthy looking, bright and well hydrated.

I really hope there is a Yog Nog perfume in the Lush Kitchen next week as it’s the only one I didn’t manage to get last year and I’m seriously missing its scent.

Overall I am very impressed with the Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie. Now I have finally tried one I can’t wait to use a few of the others currently on offer!

Rudy Gift Set from Lush

I don’t normally buy the Lush gift sets however this year I haven’t been able to resist, I spotted them on my last trip to Lush Oxford Street and thought I’d treat myself to something different because why not?

Most of my Winter Lush purchases have been online so far this year, that or from the Creative Showcase back in September. I haven’t actually visited my local store for about 6 weeks… We have a world record right here… *shivers with withdrawal symptoms* I’ve just had so much going on with the wedding and have also been recovering from surgery so I just haven’t had the time or energy. I’m hoping I do get to pop into my local store on Tuesday though, I have my eye on several of the new brightly coloured paper bags! what better excuse for a top up of bath bombs?

rudy-gift-set

Although the Rudy Gift Set looks more like a bunny rabbit to some, you can see it’s a reindeer if you try. With his red nose he is in fact the most important reindeer of them all, Rudolph!

Inside the Rudy  gift set is 1 Butterball bath bomb and 1 Shoot for the stars bath bomb.

Yes, buying the 2 bath bombs individually is slightly cheaper but I quite like the idea of presenting them in a knot wrap like this, it’s creative, different and sure to impress anyone as a Christmas gift.

Using a knot wrap instead of gift wrap helps the planet. I know there are different rules for different areas but where we live a very high percentage of the gift wrap used at Christmas just goes straight to landfill, I know this because my hubby-to-be is the manager of the local recycling center. A good 90% of wrapping paper cannot be recycled and it’s this time of year that we throw away the most.

Using knot wraps as an alternative to wrapping paper is a great solution to help the planet, buckling down on the over use of non recyclable waste is a step in the right direction for the world.

Knot wraps can be used time and time again. Tying them up may appear tricky but it is in fact very easy, there are hundreds of different ways of doing it, I learnt how to do them from just watching Youtube tutorials. It’s easy-peasy, lemon squeezy.

If you aren’t any good at stuff like that and the Youtube tutorials still have you puzzled do not worry as the Rudy gift set comes ready wrapped/knotted. If you did want to try doing one for yourself for someone else the shop assistants at Lush are always more than happy to help you knot-wrap your Lush goodies.

As mentioned above the 2 bath bombs included in the Rudy gift set are the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb and the Butterball bath bomb.

To see the review on the Butterball bath bomb click here. Butterball is very similar to the Butterbear bath bomb but is sold all year round as opposed to the Butterbear bath bomb only being available in the winter months.

Overall I really like this gift set and I think it would make a very good present to someone who you want to turn into a Lushie or for a Lushie you already know of.
