Conga Shower Jelly from Lush

At the time of writing this review, the Conga Shower Jelly is a Lush product that is exclusively available only at Lush’s brand new, flagship-super-store in Liverpool, England. As a self confessed lover of anything pink, Conga was the first of the exclusive shower jellies to catch my eye.

As soon as I heard that ‘raspberry’ was one of the ingredients in Conga I instantly thought, could this be the next Mumkin bubble bar scented product that we’ve all been asking for, for years?

Sadly for Mumkin addicts, Conga has a brand new Lush scent, it’s fairly similar to the likes of the Raspberry Milkshake soap but has an extra sour element to it, something that excited me straight away, allowing me to easily put the Mumkin bubble bar to the back of my mind once again…

Conga contains fresh raspberry juice and vanilla absolute giving it a fruity sweet fragrance, the sour element that comes through in its scent is the bergamot oil. On paper I wasn’t at all sure if this blend of ingredients would work, one sniff of Conga however wipes out any uncertainty. It’s delicious.

There are so many ways to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. This method is definitely best if you were planning on sharing the jelly (something I never do! 😉)

Most shower jellies I find are fairly robust. There are others such as the Ghost shower jelly that do not last well through use when left as a whole. Conga is however one of the most robust shower jellies I have used to date. Conga lathers quickly and easily.

As the lather of Conga gets going the steam of the hot water really helps carry its raspberry scent. In use it actually reminds me of the Plum Rain shower gel which funnily enough was another product that upon its release, I dared to dream could be Mumkin bubble bar scented too. It wasn’t Mumkin scented BUT I did fall hopelessly in love with it as like Conga it has a very unique berry-fruit sour scent.

After getting out of the shower, the Conga shower jellies scent lasts for a good few hours on your skin, it brightens dull skin up and leaves it feeling fresh. It isn’t hugely moisturising but isn’t so drying that it leaves me desperate to coat myself in body lotion.

Overall I am really impressed with the Conga shower jelly, I hope that Lush make it more readily available for all soon. It’s a fantastic addition to the Lush shower jelly family, I could see it selling very well if it was made a main line Lush product!

Magma Bath Bomb from Lush

Magma Bath Bomb

The Magma Bath Bomb is one of the first products I grabbed when I visited Lush Liverpool on its opening day last month.

Originally it was an exclusive to the Lush Harajuku store in Japan but because it’s 30 years since the bath bomb was invented by Lush’s very own Mo Constantine, Lush have put all of the Harajuku exclusive bath bombs up online making them available to purchase everywhere.

Magma shares its scent with the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar which happens to be one of my favourites. Using it helps ease the back and rib pain that I suffer with due to my medical conditions.

Containing cinnamon, ginger and peppermint oil, Magma also shares most of the same ingredients as the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar.

Cinnamon and ginger are the perfect ingredients for warming up tired aching muscles as they stimulate your blood circulation melting all muscle tension away. Mixed in with the peppermint the Magma bath bomb is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to deep muscle relaxation.

Magma’s scent is quite the acquired taste, if you favour the spicier Lush scents such as those found in the Hot Toddy shower gel and Christmas Sweater bath bomb then you will most likely really enjoy the Magma bath bomb. It’s a very warm scent, so much so it almost tickles my nose.

Designed to look like a burning ball of lava the Magma bath bomb is quite unique to anything Lush have ever released before. Its orange shell has cracks in showing its yellow and gold interior, imitating flowing lava.

As soon as the Magma bath bomb hits the water a burst of thick orange foam spills out of it, slowly the orange foam thins out and yellow and paler orange streaks appear from it too.

What I wasn’t expecting from Magma was the amazing bath art it created; With it being such a slow fizzer I couldn’t help but enjoy the show it put on.

The scent of the Magma bath bomb lasts throughout the whole bath. There’s nothing quite like sinking yourself into the Magma bath bombs waters, it’s like an all over massage.

As I mentioned earlier, when soaking in its waters you can literally feel the tension of the day vacating your body.

I was very happy to find that the Magma bath bombs scent also stayed on my skin long after I got out of the bath. Getting little whiffs of its scent throughout the rest of the day really helps drag out the relaxation side of this product.

The Magma bath bomb is a firm favourite for me, so much so that at the time of writing this review I already had 2 more ordered. The dark orange bath water it leaves you with is super soft too. It leaves my skin soothed, brighter and refreshed.

If you suffer with chronic pain or do a job that is physically demanding then I highly recommend trying this bath bomb. It took me a little while to get used to the ‘Wiccy Magic’ scent but now whenever I get a whiff of it I feel myself instantly relax.

Its warming effects lasts even once out of the bath and its because of this that I value the product so very much. The beautiful bath art it creates is just a very much appreciated added bonus. Great job Lush!

Beak Street Shower Bomb from Lush

Beak Street Shower Bomb

The Beak Street Shower Bomb is yet another Easter 2019 product that I can’t get enough of. Sharing its scent with the hugely popular Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser it has caused a wave of excitement within the Lush community.

Shower Bombs are still a relatively new product invention from Lush but with the 2019 Spring collections featuring 2 brand new limited edition shower bombs, Strawberry Hill and Beak Street we’ve been spoilt for choice. I also haven’t even mentioned any of the new shower bombs that are currently only available at the worlds brand new and now biggest Lush flagship store in Liverpool, England.

To use a shower bomb all you need to do is take it into the shower with you and hold it under the water, it will instantly foam up. Lush then advise that you take a deep breath, allow the essential oils to surround you and then begin to cleanse yourself with the foam, just as you would use a shower gel. I find that leaving it in your hand for a good 30 seconds once wet ensures a much better lather.

The Beak Street shower bomb has been designed to resemble a beak just looking at it reminds me of being 4 years old and watching Big Bird from Seasame Street on the little tv in my nan’s room. When I first picked Beak Street up to sniff I was a little disappointed, the rich and incredibly moreish buttery popcorn fragrance that I love from the Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser wasn’t apparent at all. That was until I used it in the shower.

The very first time I used the Beak Street shower bomb I used the whole thing in just one shower. Most shower bombs are good enough split in to 2 pieces, some even 3. Using Beak Street as a whole felt very wasteful, my problem is that the scent is just so good I can’t help but use it all in one shower, even when I’ve broken it in half beforehand.

As soon as the stream of water touches Beak Street the scent just explodes out of it, filling my shower space with the sweet and moreish fragrance of hot buttery popcorn. As I mentioned earlier I was disappointed that it didn’t smell of very much before use, I’m so glad I didn’t let this put me off of trying it as there really is no scent like it once you have it in the hot and steamy shower!

Holding Beak Street under the shower stream leaves you with a handful of silky smooth custard yellow shower-gel-moose. It lathers quickly and alongside the Strawberry Hill shower bomb is the most like a shower cream or gel that I have experienced while using a Lush shower bomb.

What I really like about the Beak Street shower bomb is how it made my skin feel after use, I wasn’t expecting it to be exfoliating at all, it’s a very gentle exfoliator but left my skin silky smooth and free of dead skin. Its gentle fragrance also stayed on my skin hours after getting out of the shower too. My skin looks and feels fabulous after using Beak Street.

I am going to be really sad to see the Beak Street shower bomb leave Lush shops once Easter 2019 is through. It really is one of my most favourite shower bombs to date. I will most certainly be stocking up on these before it is too late and I hope Lush bring it back or make it permanent stock very soon!
