Prince Charming Shower Gel from Lush

Prince Charming Shower Gel

Lush’s 2020 Valentine’s Day line is already here and with that comes my first review of the year. The Prince Charming shower gel is a much loved retro-Lush-product. Long before I became an obsessive Lush-product-collector the Prince Charming shower gel graced Lush’s shelves, his reign covering the Valentine’s Day period for several years. In 2016 Lush decided to shake things up a bit and released Prince Charming in a shower cream format instead.

Fast forward to 2020 and after 2 years of no Prince Charming at all, Lush have brought it back BUT in its original format, a shower gel. Being honest as always, I have not experienced or found any huge differences between the 2 different formats but wanted to give the Prince Charming shower gel its own review regardless.

2020’s Prince Charming shower gel is a much deeper shade of red in comparison to the shower cream, it also has quite a lengthy ingredients list. It contains essential oils from grapefruit, sandalwood and geranium flowers as well as having a generous helping of fresh pomegranate juice and a blend of vanilla and marshmallow root infusions.

Living up to its name, the first word that comes to mind when I am trying to describe this shower gels scent is in fact, ‘charming’.

Its scent is often compared to the likes of the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream. While I can pinpoint what people mean when comparing the two, I feel Prince Charming’s scent is a little more complex, having several more layers to it. I would describe Prince Charming’s scent as zesty with a hint of floral that is all rounded off and mellowed down by the blend of sweet vanilla and marshmallow roots.

Consistency wise, I think the Prince Charming shower gel is pretty close to perfect. It’s not so thick that you can hardly get it out of the bottle and not too thin that you lose it all at the slightest tip of the bottle. As I mentioned earlier, apart from the darker colour the Prince Charming shower gel is almost identical to the shower cream equivalent, so much so that I am wondering why Lush even bothered to brand it as a shower ‘gel’.

The Prince Charming shower gel goes a very long way, a blob the size of a 50p coin is more than enough to use to for the whole of your body. The scent really comes alive once you’ve got it all lathered up in the hot and steamy shower, it leaves my skin positively radiant. It not only appears brighter, it also feels smooth to the touch and I can smell its subtle fragrance on my skin for the rest of the day.

Overall I am really impressed with this shower gel, it has such an inviting scent, it’s the perfect Valentine’s shower time treat!

Wild Butterfly Bath Bomb from Lush

Wild Butterfly Bath Bomb
The Wild Butterfly Bath Bomb is 1 of 3 butterfly shaped bath bombs from Lush’s 2019 Mother’s day line. The carefully crafted, butterfly shaped bath bombs are far from the likes of the standard round ones such as the Dragon’s Egg or Intergalactic.

With the use of 3D printers, Lush have been experimenting with their bath-bomb-moulds, trying out lots of different and super-intricate designs. Through the use of these 3D printers Lush created the beautiful Butterfly bath bombs.

The butterfly bath bombs have proven very popular because of their beautiful and clever design, Lush were very wise when they made the decision to make and release 4 different butterfly bath bombs. (I’ll talk about the 4th butterfly bath bomb that isn’t a part of the Mothers day line in its own review very soon.)

Like the Rose Butterfly bath bomb, Wild Butterflies name doesn’t give much away when it comes down to guessing its ingredients; Containing sweet wild orange, petitgrain and olive leaf absolute its scent is a cocktail of sweet-citrus-fruit blended with subtle warming and earthy tones.

It’s sunshine-yellow and shimmery-orange design makes for some super sunny bath art.

As soon as the Wild Butterfly bath bomb touches the water an array of orange and yellow foam bursts out of it. A thin layer of colourful, silky soft foam slowly spreads across the waters surface as it slowly bubbles away.

The Wild Butterfly bath bombs supposedly shares its scent with the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel, until the bath bomb came in contact with the water this wasn’t at all apparent to me.

Once wet, my nose could finally detect the products’ familiarities, I however still don’t believe it is the exact same scent, Wild Butterflies scent hasn’t got the same sourness as the aforementioned shower gels.

The Wild Butterfly bath bomb is a fairly slow fizzer, ensuring that you have plenty of time to snap some bath art shots if that’s your type of thing. I know most people like to just lay back and relax, watching the bath bomb put on its show.

As the Wild Butterly bath bomb dissolves, it slowly turns your bath water a bright and very warm orange colour. The shade of orange reminds me of the bath water left behind by the Brightside bubble bar. I have yet to try both Brightside and Wild Butterfly together but I imagine they would work very well together.

A good soak in a Wild Butterfly bath leaves your skin brighter and super-refreshed. Its subtle scent also remains on your skin long after leaving your bath tub.

Overall I am very impressed with the Wild Butterfly bath bomb. Unfortunately for me the UK’s Mother’s Day has been and gone but I know some other countries still haven’t had their Mother’s Day yet. Please make sure that you try this bath bomb at least once while you still can, I promise you won’t regret it!

Rose Butterfly Bath Bomb from Lush

Rose Butterfly Bath Bomb

The Rose Butterfly Bath Bomb is 1 of 3 butterfly shaped bath bombs from Lush’s 2019 mother’s day line. The butterfly shaped bath bombs are far from the likes of the standard round ones such as the Avobath and Sex Bomb.

With the use of 3D printers, Lush have been experimenting with their non-virgin plastic bath bomb moulds, making lots of different and super-intricate designs. Through the use of these 3D printers Lush product inventor Gary Shears created the beautiful Butterfly bath bombs!

With a name like ‘Rose Butterfly’ I had decided before I had even read the bath bombs ingredients list that it would share its scent or be similar to the scent of the Rose Jam shower gel, I was wrong, so, so wrong…

Once my Rose Butterfly bath bomb arrived I was shocked to discover that its scent was reminiscent of the Butterball bath bomb. Although its ingredients list says otherwise, I do not think I could tell the difference between the two if I was presented them both while blind folded.

Sure, Rose Butterflies scent has a little more of a floral-fruity tone to it but its scent is so alike to Butterball, even my husband connected the two on first sniff, unprompted. Containing Sicilian lemon and rose oil the Rose Butterfly doesn’t smell like I think it should at all.

It just goes to show what different quantity amounts of ingredients can do, if you’re not a huge fan of floral or rose scents, (as crazy as it sounds) the Rose Butterfly might be a good choice for you.

As soon as the Rose Butterfly bath bomb touches the water an array of blue, purple and pink foam bursts out of it. A thin layer of colourful, silky soft foam spreads across the waters surface as the Rose Butterfly bath bomb slowly bubbles away.

The blues, purples and pink colours work really well together. The clash of colours make for some very impressive bath art. I couldn’t help but ‘ooo!’ at it as it bobbed around my bath, slowly dissolving while turning the bath water a very impressive and bold, dark blue.

The Rose Butterfly bath bomb is a fairly slow fizzer, ensuring that you have plenty of time to snap some bath art shots if that’s your type of thing… I know most people like to just lay back and relax, watching the bath bomb dance around the water.

A good soak in a Rose Butterfly bath leaves your skin soft and refreshed. It is also incredibly hydrating which is something I love in a bath bomb. Overall I am very impressed with the Rose Butterfly and I am looking forward to reviewing the other butterfly bath bombs for you all on here in the not so distant future! 😊
