Hollywood Bubble Bar from Lush

Hollywood Bubble Bar.pngI love it when a Lush product that I have never heard of before appears on the Lush Kitchen menu. I can’t and don’t always order these rarities but when I see the Hollywood Bubble Bar, I just couldn’t resist.

Stars are my all time favourite shape. This is why the Twilight bath bomb was my very first. The Hollywood bubble bar is a cream coloured bubble bar decorated with one, perfectly shaped gold star.

Size wise, Hollywood is a medium sized bubble bar, large being the size of a The Brightside bubble bar, medium being Ladybird bubble bar sized.

Some have described it as quite plain. I agree, it is plain but sometimes less is more, especially when it comes down to Lush Cosmetics!

The Hollywood bubble bar has a seductively floral, sweet scent. At first I was hesitant upon ordering it as I don’t always get on with the floral scented products.

Luckily when put in front of me, the first thing that I noticed was that its floral fragrance wasn’t too in your face, it is has subtle and likeable floral fragrance.

The jasmine and rose absolute in the Hollywood bubble bar compliment eachother perfectly. It makes for a very relaxing and refreshing bath, sinking yourself under a blanket of Hollywood bubbles is my idea of heaven on earth.

You could easily get three generously bubbled baths out of just the one Hollywood bubble bar. They may be a little smaller than I’d have liked but knowing how many baths I can spread it out in makes me feel a little bit better about it.

Packed with eugenol the Hollywood bubble bar not only smells delightful but also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, mixed with the rose and jasmine absolute Hollywood is a real treat for your skin. The rose absolute soothes your skin while the jasmine absolute helps to freshen things up.

When you get out of a Hollywood bubble bath your skin feels fabulous, it’s soft, smooth and delicately scented for several hours afterwards. It makes you look and feel like an A-list celebrity, watch out Hollywood!

The only negative I have in regards to the Hollywood bubble bar is its price. I do not usually include product prices in my reviews as they are subject to change and keeping each review up to date would be very difficult, I however think I need to mention it for the purpose of this review.

At the time of writing this review (Feb 2017) the Hollywood bubble bar was retailed by the Lush Kitchen at £5.25. For that price I honestly expected it to be a lot bigger than it was. Yes, a little of it goes a very long way I however would like a bit more product for my money. It’s the dearest Lush bubble bar I have come across of its size.

I feel as if everyone would however be in favour of bigger versions of any of the Lush bubble bars though, after all, every single one of them is gorgeous for one reason or another.

No one would ever turn down the chance of having a little bit more of something they love and for me that does include the Hollywood bubble bar.

Brightside Body Lotion from Lush

img_1758

Back in May the Lush Kitchen team put a list together of Lush’s most popular scents. We (the Lush community) then had to pick our ultimate top 5 scents from that scent list. With this list the Lush Kitchen had promised to make several never-before-been-released products with those chosen top 5 scents.

I was thrilled when I see that the Brightside scent had been chosen as one of the five, I wasn’t however surprised as it’s a beautiful scent family and one that I think Lush should have expanded long before now. Previous to this I believe there had only ever been two other Brightside scented products, the bubble bar and the Sunrise soap.

BSBL-FThe Brightside Body Lotion was therefore a very much welcomed member of my Lush product collection. Just like the bubble bar of the same name Brightside body lotion has your full attention as soon as you open its lid. Its scent is sweet and zesty which is to be expected with its generous citrus based ingredients list, it contains Mandarin, tangerine and bergamot oil.

All of these ingredients compliment each other beautifully, Brightside’s scent is delightfully cheery, refreshing and uplifting. Unlike the bubble bar and soap the Brightside body lotion however has cocoa butter in, this is totally understandable as the three products are all very different formats, naturally they won’t contain a match by match list of ingredients. After all, a body lotion wouldn’t be a very good lotion without any cocoa butter!

Although the body lotion’s scent is almost identical to both the Brightside scented bubble bar and soap the inclusion of the cocoa butter changes it ever so slightly. Upon first sniff I am reminded of my favourite type of chocolate, orange chocolate. The initial cocoa buttery scent does however dampen down once you get down to applying it.

The Brightside body lotion is quite thin in consistency, it’s not nearly as creamy as the likes of Sleepy or Celebrate body lotion. I actually quite like it like this though, I thought a small amount of Sleepy body lotion went a long way but nothing compares in this department to the Brightside body lotion, lotioning my self up with it makes me feel like I have bathed in unicorns milk, (because that’s a real thing…) It just makes my skin look and feel amazing.

So far all I have used of it is the excess lotion in the lid, with this I have moisturised my arms, legs and chest 5 maybe 6 times already, I love a product that lasts, even more so when it is an exclusive one. Once on your skin the Brightside body lotion isn’t at all greasy, it hydrates my skin just right. It looks and feels brighter.

Unfortunately the scent of the Brightside body lotion almost completely fades fairly soon after application. You can still detect it although it is very, very subtle. I’d love to see a shower gel or cream made in this scent. I have my fingers crossed for the future!

Ne Worry Pas Bath Bomb from Lush

Ne Worry Pas Bath Bomb.pngI could be wrong but I think the Ne Worry Pas Bath Bomb was the first that I ever bought from the Lush Kitchen. My memory is a little hazy, if it wasn’t my very first, Ne Worry Pas was definitely one of the first three. Containing a mixture of bergamot, cedarwood and jasmine oil, the Ne Worry Pas bath bomb is the perfect product if you are looking to settle a restless mind. It is one of the best combinations of ingredients for calming your nerves and uplifting your spirits.

I know a lot of people tend to ignore the white bath bombs because there are much more colourful options available, I however always go for them first. The So White bath bomb is a perfect example of one of the plainer and/or white bath bombs that aren’t what people expect on first appearance. When they revamped it last year (2016) I was in shock at how it turned out once in the bath. Bath bombs are very often not what we expect so I always tell people to give a product a try at least once.

The crisp white bath bombs are just super appealing to me. Maybe it’s how clean and refreshing they appear.

My favourite thing about the Ne Worry Pas Bath Bomb is its design and the story behind it. Looking at the above photograph anyone who hasn’t seen this particular bath bomb before will be wondering what the single, purple hole is all about.

The hole in this bath bomb is called the ‘Violet Keyhole’, the idea behind it is that you whisper your worries into the hole just before placing the Ne Worry Pas into the water. Once it is in the water you are expected to lie back, shut your eyes and relax, soaking in the blissful peace and quiet while your worries dissolve away with the bath bomb.

The very first time I tried this product, I kept the idea behind the product in my mind. I wasn’t expecting a big and colourful surprise or fantastic bath art and I did exactly as I was told, lie back, shut your eyes and relax. I really did feel better in myself by the time the bath bomb had dissolved.

Once the bath bomb has dissolved you are left with silky-soft, ivory water that leaves your skin velvety smooth and perfectly nourished. Although the Ne Worry Pas bath bomb is a very fast fizzer and doesn’t put much of a visual show on, it was the first bath bomb that made me realise that bath bombs can do so much more than change the colour of your bath water.

I have learnt over time that sometimes the bath bombs that lack colour and a visual show have wonderful hidden benefits. Until I did a little research on how Lush invented the bath bomb back in 1989, I had no idea that it was stemmed from ideas on how to practice aromatherapy at home safely. Once I learnt this I started to pay attention to each and every bath bombs ingredients and it has changed my life for the better.

Not only does a soak in a Ne Pas Worry bath help lull me into a calmer state of mind but it also soothes my skin. It’s light scent is also very good for defeating tension headaches, especially when paired with the Ultraviolet or Baa Bar bubble bars.
