Deep Sleep Bath Bomb from Lush

The Deep Sleep Bath Bomb was one of the first products I grabbed on my very first visit to Lush Liverpool on their opening day back in 2019. It is safe to assume that the bath bomb has been well received by Lush customers as several years after the Liverpool stores grand opening, the Deep Sleep bath bomb is still available as an all year round product in both stores and online.

As you can see from the photograph above, the Deep Sleep bath bomb isn’t your average looking Lush bath bomb as it is wrapped in a fully compostable muslin cloth.

With the Deep Sleep bath bomb being wrapped it means you can enjoy the dry lavender and German chamomile flowers that are hidden within it without the fear of clogging up your pipes with the bits of flowers that could end up going down your plug hole when the bath drains. It is also a huge bonus for those customers that dislike any ‘bits’ floating around in the bath with them. Put simply, you get all of the benefits from the ingredients without the mess!

Alongside the above-mentioned flowers, the Deep Sleep bath bomb also contains lavender absolute and the following essential oils, lavender, chamomile and neroli. Scent-wise my nose mostly picks up on all of the lavender in the Deep Sleep bath bomb, it’s a very sweet yet herbal scent, it actually reminds me of my childhood home. We had lavender growing right outside of our front door, I remember my nan rubbing her hands on bits of the lavender she had picked every time she went past it.

As soon as the Deep Sleep bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss, slowly but surely, purple bubbles fizz out of the bath bomb turning the bath water a very inviting, Cadbury purple colour.

If you thought the Twilight bath bomb was great to use before bed, then you’ll be blown away with Deep Sleep. When used just before bed, the lavender and chamomile blend really helps lull you into a truly relaxed state of mind. As soon as you lay back into a Deep Sleep bath you can feel yourself instantly relax, all tension that has built up in your body that day simply melts away.

The Deep Sleep bath bomb takes approximately 8 to 10 minutes to fully dissolve, only the muslin cloth full of the dry lavender and German chamomile flowers remains, floating around your bath adding not just to the baths scent but also to how soft the bath water is.

The water is a beautiful shade of purple and silky smooth to touch, it leaves my skin feeling soothed and refreshed. The scent of Deep Sleep is still detectable on my skin the morning after I have used it too. This allows Deep Sleep’s calming effects to work on me right through until the next day.

If you’re looking for bath art, Deep Sleep wouldn’t be a good choice BUT if you are just chasing a good night’s sleep, this bath bomb may just be the key ingredient you’ve been looking for. Overall, I am super impressed with the Deep Sleep bath bomb, my excuse for taking so long to finally review it on here is based on its price. If it wasn’t so expensive, I’d be using it a lot more often!

Lucky Tiger Bath Bomb from Lush

The Lucky Tiger Bath Bomb is a product collaboration between Lush Japan and Lush’s Greater China teams to create an inclusive product specifically for the Lunar New Year celebrations. It was released at the start of January 2022 which happens to be the year of the tiger.

Last year, Lush created another product for Luna new year with the release of the Dragon Legend reusable bubble bar. I was incredibly excited to see that Lush had decided to celebrate the Lunar New Year again for 2022.

The Lucky Tiger bath bomb is the standard sized 200g bath bomb. It’s created in the shape of a tiger’s face. As a self-confessed crazy-cat-lady I of course couldn’t resist picking up a couple. It’s such a beautiful bath bomb with its big-bold cat eyes, tiger-stripes, and whiskers!

Lucky Tiger is a bright orange bath bomb coated in plastic-free, shimmery golden pigment (mica). It’s an incredibly sparkly bath bomb so not for the faint hearted, ALTHOUGH – I always feel like I must explain in my reviews of products like this that there’s no need to be afraid of anything sparkly.

When I first got into Lush the thought of using ‘glittery’ products terrified me. However, it’s not at all scary and after just one bath I was sold on all things shimmery. Bath bombs such as the Lucky Tiger make for very pleasant experiences, it’s not like jumping into a giant pot of glitter, I promise.

Lucky Tigers scent is from Lush’s scent family, Karma. It is a hugely popular, Lush-retro-fragrance that has featured in copious amounts of different Lush products, in several different formats over the years. The most recent Karma scented product that I have reviewed from Lush is the Karma Yantra bath bomb.

The Lucky Tiger bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients; Patchouli, Brazilian orange, lavandin, Siberian fir needle, lemongrass, and elemi oil. On paper you’d think all of those oils would clash terribly but in reality – all of them blended together work beautifully. Each ingredient compliments one another perfectly.

I’d say the most prominent ingredients to come through when I sniff the Lucky Tiger bath bomb are the patchouli, orange, and pine oils. The Karma scent is super refreshing – which I think is down to the orange and pine oils. The patchouli oil also adds a peppery almost spicy layer to its fragrance too. It quite simply oozes happiness and good vibes fitting right in with the ‘lucky’ theme!

As soon as the Lucky Tiger bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a ferocious hiss. Small orange bubbles fizzle out of it as the water quickly turns bright orange. The golden shimmer also starts to spread around the water, swooshing it around and watching the sparkles catch the light is incredibly relaxing.

You don’t get any bath art out of the Lucky Tiger bath bomb and it’s not a foamy bath bomb either, the star point of the Lucky Tiger is its scent and how lovely it leaves your skin feeling. It’s a fairly fast fizzer leaving you with more time to immerse yourself in its ‘good vibe’ waters.

The Lucky Tiger bath bombs scent remained on my skin right through until the next day, I could still smell it on my dressing gown 2 days later too. It left my skin smooth and refreshed looking.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Lucky Tiger bath bomb, it’s a fantastic product inspired by a beautifully reflective and special time of year. I am looking forward to seeing what Lush come up with for Luna new year, 2023!

Unicorn Poop Bath Bomb from Lush

The Unicorn Poop Bath Bomb first became available in the UK at the end of November 2021. If you know me, you’ll know I’m absolutely obsessed with anything to do with unicorns, saying I was excited to try the Unicorn Poop bath bomb would be an understatement indeed.

Much like the Follow the Rabbit and Snowman Dreaming bath bombs, Unicorn Poop is full of a rainbow of colours. It is shaped like the poo emoji with pink, yellow, purple and blue swirls in its twisted top. Just looking at it shows you exactly how the Unicorn Poop bath bomb got its name.

The Unicorn Poop bath bomb doesn’t share its scent with the Unicorn Horn bubble bar or the Unicorn lip scrub – it actually belongs to the Cocktail scent family. The Cocktail scent is very similar to the scent found in the Fizzbanger bath bomb BUT not nearly as fruity, its scent is a lot sharper and has musky elements too.

I’d go as far as to say that the Unicorn Poop’s scent, out of all of the scents Lush have created over the years is one of the most mature to date. I therefore find it a puzzling scent choice considering that the bath bomb is literally named after unicorn poo, something that would appeal more to children than senior citizens.

It contains calamine powder, jasmine absolute and the following essential oils – bergamot, davana and ylang ylang.

I’m always honest in my reviews and I hate to start 2022 with a wishy-washy review but the Unicorn Poop bath bomb wasn’t as good in the bath as I had imagined it to be.

Upon hitting the water the Unicorn Poop bath bomb has a little eruption of pink and white foam. Purple foam then begins to trickle out of it too. As the Unicorn Poop bath bomb dances around in your bath water more colours come out of it, although only small amounts.

The bath art side of this bath bomb isn’t nearly as good as I’d had hoped a ‘rainbow bath bomb’ like this to be. It bubbles away until it fully dissolves leaving you with pearly pink bath water.

The Unicorn Poop bath bomb takes approximately 15 minutes to fully dissolve, for such a slow fizzing bath bomb I really did expect more bath art, I’m wondering if the pastel tones of the colours is what dampens the bath art down somewhat.

Once the Unicorn Poop bath bomb has fully dissolved the water is silky smooth. I didn’t find the water very moisturising but it didn’t dry out my skin at all.

Sadly, the Unicorn Poop bath bomb isn’t one I’d get again. It was perfectly marketed to me as a unicorn-mad Lush fan but in my opinion the scent just didn’t fit within the theme of it at all. I’d have also liked to have seen more bath art from it considering its name and how colourful it is.

Lush have recently released some amazing rainbow coloured bath bombs that are so much better than Unicorn Poop. It’s very rare for me to dislike a bath bomb but Unicorn Poop didn’t captivate me in the same way as most other Lush bath bombs do.
