Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime from Lush

With a name like ‘shower slime’, the product is to-say-the-least quite a conversation starter. I have heard mixed reviews on the concept of shower slime product format BUT, I have yet to hear a single negative review from anyone who has actually given a shower slime a go.

Today I will be reviewing the Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime. The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime first made an appearance in Lush’s 2022 Halloween line and is set to make a return for Halloween 2023. It shares its scent with another much-loved Halloween product the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar.

The only annoying aspect of shower slimes (from a practical point of view) is that they are potted. With me being disabled most of the time it’s just easier to reach for a bottled shower gel as they are easier to get out when you and your hands all wet!

The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime contains grapefruit oil, Juniper berry oil, lime oil, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh orange juice and plenty of corn starch. This unique blend of essential oils makes the Sparkly Pumpkins scent a woody and gentle citrus blend, I find myself feeling really uplifted after using it as well as my skin feeling soft, clean, and refreshed.

If you favour Lush products with a more subtle scent, then Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime would be a great choice for you.

Shower slimes work in the same way as a shower gel, they are very slime-like BUT great at leaving your skin clean and refreshed. A small amount of the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime goes a very long way making it great value for money. Shower slimes have a lot of corn starch in them which is what gives them that slightly thicker, tacky, milky-dough-like-consistency.

With just a little bit of water the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime easily lathers up into something that better resembles as a shower gel. The shower slime is not at all sticky and as stated above just feels like a tacky, slightly thicker shower gel.

Out of all of the shower slimes Lush have released before this, none of them have been quite as inviting as the bright orange Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime. You’ll find yourself using more than is necessary just because of its gorgeous bright colour.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime, I’d go as far as to say it is my favourite shower slime that Lush have released so far. I am glad to see that it is making a return for this year’s Halloween line (2023).

Zesty Body Spray from Lush

Previously known as the Calacas body spray, the Zesty Body Spray’s scent happens to be one of my most favourite Lush scents of all time. My first experience with a Zesty/Calacas scented product was when I ordered the Calacas shower gel back when Lush was all shiny and new to me.

I fell hopelessly in love after just one use and just like that, my Lush-life’s mission became trying anything and everything Lush brought out with the same fragrance.

Before the body spray’s release, I had been putting in weekly requests to Lush for a Calacas perfume for what felt like an eternity, it had been my most wanted product for well over 5 years. On the 1st of December 2018 Lush finally came through. The Lush Kitchen made a Calacas Body Spray! Since then, it has not only had a name change but has also been made into a mainline product thanks to it being so popular.

The Zesty body spray was inspired by the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead is celebrated throughout Mexico during the last week of October and first few days of November. It is a celebration in honour of the family and friends who are no longer with them.

Zesty contains lime, frankincense and neroli oils, the Zesty scent is sweet, sharp and thanks to the neroli oil an instant mood booster. Lush have joked that it’s so zingy it could wake the dead.

The Zesty scent is hugely popular within the Lush community and Lush have made it into many different product formats, my favourites that share its scent (other than the body spray and shower gel) are the Monsters’ Ball bath bombMan in the Moon bubble barThe Enchanter bath bomb and Calacas body lotion.

Zesty is a beautiful, citrus body spray. Another thing I really like about it is that it isn’t super-duper in your face strong like some other citrusy scents. One quick spray on to my clothes leaves me smelling of it all day.  I can often still smell it on my top if I wear it the next day too.

I love wearing it on special occasions so that whenever I do get a whiff of it, I feel special.

Another thing I like to do with it is spritz it on the ends of my hair. Several people have asked me what shampoo I use as my hair smells so lovely. Overall, I am over the moon with this body spray. It has pride of place on top of my dresser next to my Celebrate and Once Upon a Time body sprays.

Mean Green Mother from Outerspace Bubble Bar from Lush

The Mean Green Mother from Outerspace Bubble Bar was an exclusive product included in the October 2022’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. Inspired by the man-eating plant in the Little Shop of Horrors, the Mean Green Mother from Outerspace bubble bar fits right into the boxes chilling-Halloween-theme.

Going forward, I am now going to refer to the Mean Green Mother from Outerspace bubble bar as just Mean Green to save us both sometime. I do wonder if Lush give their products long names to not only make them stand out but to get on our nerves a little bit too. 😉

The Mean Green bubble bar is approximately 100g, for comparison purposes the bestselling Brightside bubble bar is 200g – twice its size. Yes, the Mean Green bubble bar may be on the smaller side but if I have learnt anything from the hundreds of Lush bubble bars that I have tried before now, size doesn’t dictate a bubble bars true bubble-potential…

The Mean Green bubble bar contains the following essential oils: lime, olibanum resinoid and neroli. It shares its scent with the Calacas shower gelMonsters’ Ball bath bomb and from this year’s Halloween line (2022) the Big Foot bath bomb.

Lush’s Calacas scent family is one of my all-time favourites, I can never get enough of it. Its lime led scent is both uplifting and zingy. Lush have combined oil of lime, neroli and olibanum to make the perfect pick-me-up scent. Bathing in a Mean Green bath will reinvigorate your mind, body and soul.

Some describe the Calacas scent as being very similar to the sweets, fruit pastilles. I adore its scent, Lush have yet to use it in a product I haven’t loved!

To use the Mean Green bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a small sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars. This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

One of my favourite things about Lush’s bubble bars is that unlike their bath bombs, bubble bars can be spread out over several baths.

I got 2 adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Mean Green bubble bar without it hindering the quality of it at all. HOWEVER, I think I could have easily spread the bubble bar out over 3 baths. It may be a small bubble bar but a little amount of it certainly goes a very long way!

Once the bubble bar pieces are put under the running tap, it doesn’t take very long at all for the blanket of fluffy white bubble to form. Underneath the blanket of bubbles the water turns a glorious bright green.

A Mean Green bubble bath leaves your skin feeling as soft as silk. After getting out of the bath its beautiful lime and neroli fragrance also lasts on your skin for the rest of the day. There’s no need to lotion up once you’re out of the bath either as it leaves your skin super-hydrated.

Overall, I am clearly head over heels in love with the Mean Green Mother from Outerspace bubble bar. I am a little confused as to why it didn’t make it into the actual Halloween range this year, it’s a crime that it was only available in the Lush Kitchen Subscription Box!
