Botanomancy CBD Bubble Bar from Lush

The Botanomancy CBD Bubble Bar is a brand-new product and is the first of its kind from Lush. It was released alongside the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb back on Christmas Eve, 2020. CBD is short for cannabidiol, cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants.

There has been a lot of research conducted around the use of CBD oil and it is said to have a long list of health-benefits. In particular it helps with stress management and those suffering with anxiety and/or sleep problems.

CBD has also been proven to help people like me, who suffer from medical conditions that cause wide-spread chronic pain. The very reason I first got into Lush Cosmetics was because I was looking for natural alternatives to prescription painkiller medications. With this in mind I didn’t hesitate to buy Botanomancy when it became available.

The Botanomancy CBD bubble bar is the same size as the bestselling bubble bars, Brightside and The Comforter which has certainly pleased the masses. After all everyone likes more for their money! As well as the cannabidiol, Botanomancy also contains patchouli, sandalwood, ginger and dried peppermint leaf and rose petals. Its scent is really herbilicious, earthy and refreshing.

The first time I  used the Botanomancy CBD bubble bar I decided to stick half of the bar into my bubble bar sieve, this was way too much and a complete waste. The smallest amount creates more than enough bubbles, you can easily get 6 baths out of one bar, more if your water pressure is strong.

A blanket of fluffy white bubbles doesn’t take very long to form at all. Underneath the bubbles, the water is an earthy green scattered with the dried rose petals.

There is no better feeling than sinking yourself into a nice hot bath after a long day. If I am being honest, like the aforementioned 4:20pm CBD bath bomb, I wouldn’t say I was anymore relaxed than I’d normally be after just an ordinary Lush bath BUT I was relaxed enough to get straight into bed and a good nights sleep followed.

There are some aspects I’d like to tweak to this bubble bar, I personally would prefer it without the dried petals but I’ve seen plenty of people on Instagram who really liked their inclusion.

Other than that I really liked this bubble bar and I hope that Lush decide to bring out a few more CBD products as it’s something I’d love to try more of.

Eggy Wegg Bath Bomb from Lush

The Eggy Wegg Bath Bomb first featured in 2021’s Easter line, with it being my favourite colour, it was the very first product within the line that caught my eye. Bright pink with 3 fried eggs on its top-half as decoration, it’s hard to not be drawn to it.

Eggy Wegg is similar in design to the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb, instead of 3 clouds the Eggy Wegg bath bomb has its 3 fried eggs. Others have also compared Eggy Wegg to the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb, while both have 3 unique decorations on its top half, unlike Eggy Wegg’s fried eggs, the golden stars in Shoot for the Stars are mini bath melts.

I don’t like the comparison of Eggy Wegg and the aforementioned Shoot for the Stars bath bomb, I find the added bath melts in a bath bomb really do make for a completely different bathing experience. If you’re like me and don’t always enjoy super hydrating baths, then Eggy Wegg is well worth a try.

The Eggy Wegg bath bomb includes ingredients that I wouldn’t ever imagine working together, strangely they do however work. Sicilian lemon and spearmint oil blend together to give Eggy Wegg a fragrance a bit like a big bag of pick-and-mix sweets.

Its scent has a tropical-fruit twang and also a generous helping of invigorating spearmint. Both scents round each other off, it’s a unique scent but one I’d love to see in other product formats in the future.

As soon as the Eggy Wegg bath bomb comes in to contact with the bath water you are greeted with a hiss of hot pink, fizzing bubbles. It doesn’t take long for the beautiful bath art to begin spilling out of the bath bomb, charging around your bath tub.

Pink, yellow and white swirls begin to dance their way around the water surface, creating the most beautiful swirling bath art. The photos I have included in this review do the Eggy Wegg bath bomb no justice at all.

The yellow and pink patterns created by Eggy Wegg clash perfectly, if you’re familiar with the Angels Delight bath bomb, expect the same type of stand-out bright yellow and warm pink bath art.

Once the Eggy Wegg bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with bright pinky-orange tinted water. The water is silky-smooth and leaves your skin appearing and feeling softer and brighter.

For a bath bomb with a mix of such dominantly scented ingredients (lemon and spearmint) you’d expect its fragrance to be really strong on your skin, it is however a very subtle fragrance, not at all in-your-face. I could see the fragrance working very well in a body lotion format.

Overall I am very much in love with the Eggy Wegg bath bomb, it didn’t smell how I imagined an Easter product to smell but I think that’s what has made it so perfect. I’ll be very sad if this bath bomb doesn’t come back next Easter.

Avocado Ice Cream Fresh Face Mask from Lush

I managed to get a hold of a pot of the Avocado Ice Cream Fresh Face Mask when it was available in April 2021’s Fresh Subscription Box. Previous to this, the fresh face mask had only been available in Lush’s Fresh Shop and Spa in Paris and I believe for a very short while from my favourite Lush store in the world, Lush Liverpool.

Rumour has it that it is soon to become a main line product throughout the UK so I thought it was wise to get my review on it uploaded!

The Avocado Ice Cream fresh face mask has a short and very simple list of ingredients; Fresh avocado, soya yoghurt, kaolin, fresh lemon juice and bergamot oil. It has a refreshingly light, lemony fragrance that is perfect for waking up dull, tired skin.

Consistency wise, the Avocado Ice Cream fresh face mask reminds me a little of hummus. A small amount goes a very long way and it glides on your face with ease.

With Lush’s fresh face masks I always recommend applying them with a tea spoon or face-mask-brush/spatula as this stops any bacteria on your fingers getting into your pot of face-mask-goodness. Using this application technique allows your fresh face mask to stay fresh for longer. Sometimes lasting well after their use-by-date.

All of Lush’s fresh face masks are also meant to be stored in the fridge, some are better left out for a while before applying but I find that with Avocado Ice Cream it is best applied straight out of the fridge. The combination of its coolness alongside the cooling effects of the avocado and soya yoghurt are perfect for this time of year as the weather gets warmer.

What I really liked about the Avocado Ice Cream fresh face mask was how easily it washes off of your face too. I love how effortless using  it is, it wipes off just as easily as it glides on and my skin LOVES it. Just 10 minutes of wearing this face mask leaves my face appearing brighter and feeling soft and smooth.

With such a small amount of this face mask going such a long way I don’t think it’s possible to use it all by the date on use-by sticker. As mentioned above, I strongly recommend using a face-mask-brush/spatula to apply it to make it stand the test of time and to get the most out of it.

Overall I am really impressed with the Avocado Ice Cream fresh face mask, if it doesn’t become mainline Lush are definitely making a mistake!
