Hot Toddy Shower Gel from Lush

Hot Toddy Shower Gel.pngHot Toddy Shower Gel had me intrigued purely on its name alone. When the opportunity to buy some presented itself I of course snapped it up.

I didn’t expect Hot Toddy to smell how it does, its scent is almost identical to the scent of the fizzy cola bottle sweets I used to eat as a kid.

For some reason I thought it was going to have a very hot and spicy fragrance. I wasn’t however completely wrong, it does have a slight spice to it but it also has a sweet element to it too.

The Hot Toddy gel has a multitude of ingredients that are perfect for warming you up during Winter time. Ginger, clove leaf, patchouli and my all time favourite spice, cinnamon.

I loathe Winter with a passion, if humans could hibernate I’d be the first in line while rocking a funky set of super fluffy pyjamas.

Unfortunately we can’t hibernate and I therefore have to find other means to get through Winter. Enters Lush’s Hot Toddy Shower Gel! it really does make my Winters a lot easier to endure.

hot-toddy-shower-gel-blobThe Hot Toddy shower gel has quite a thick consistency making it very similar to the likes of the Bubbly shower gel.

A little of the product goes a very long way, the smallest amount of shower gel lathers up effortlessly and it is as you work it in your hands in preparation to cleanse your body that the scent and its magic warming properties really hits you.

I cannot express how amazing Hot Toddy feels on my tired and achy muscles. If I could just jump into a pool full of it that would be fabuLUSH.

It’s almost as if the shower gel seeps through to your muscles massaging them, the warmth of it and how it feels on my skin is just so, so good.

I tried to get a picture of the beautiful gold lustre that makes the Hot Toddy shower gel that little bit more special, as always my photo does it no justice at all. If you’re new to Lush please do not be put off of the products that have lustre in.

When I first got into Lush I avoided the lustre products like the plague, I then accidentally used a product with lustre in and all went well, I didn’t look like a sparkling vampire…

I feel like a broken record as I write a paragraph like this for every product I review with lustre in but it’s honestly not like jumping into a pot of glitter, it’s more of a light, cosmetic shimmer. There also isn’t really that much of it actually in the products and it’s completely biodegradable.

Overall I am totally blown away at Hot Toddy. It is so much more than just a shower gel.

I’m gutted I only have the one bottle left, although… I do have a mini one on the way

Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie from Lush

Yog Log Roulade.pngLush’s Roulade Shower Smoothies do a very similar job to the Lush body conditioners such as Christingle or Snow Fairy. Lush describe them as ‘luxurious moisturisers for smooth, soft, and scented skin.’ They are however slightly more solid than the body conditioners and come pot free, stored in a biodegradable shrink wrap instead.

Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie is my very first ever Lush Roulade, I’ve had samples of others before but this is the first one that I have actually bought. It supposedly shares its scent with the Yog Nog bath bomb so I decided to give it a go.

I was so disappointed when I found out that the Yog Nog bath bomb wasn’t going to be a part of the regular Christmas line this year. It isn’t until you can’t get hold of something anymore that you realise how much you did in fact like it.

When I first got my 100g chunk of Yog Log I was a little disappointed by its scent, it has similarities to the Yog Nog bath bomb but it’s just not quite the same. Pushing this disappointment aside and looking at it as a brand new product, I was still keen to try it.

Seeing as this was my first ever Lush Roulade, I wasn’t really sure how best to use it. I’d seen demos of people grabbing the whole thing and lathering it all over themselves and I had also seen people cut theirs into portions, storing them in an old Lush pot.

I decided to portion out mine as I wanted it to last, I feared if I was to submerge it all in water that it would go out of date a lot quicker. I found this strange as I have the complete opposite attitude when it comes to the Lush shower jellies.

I think maybe I just feel that the roulades are creamier than the jellies and therefore have a shorter shelf life. I however have no idea if this is true as all Lush products are crafted to self preserve, using the whole thing could very well be an okay way to do it, I guess it just all boils down to personal preference.

Yog Log becomes workable very quickly, the heat of the water softens it turning it into a gentle and skin-soothing paste, massaging it gently into your skin is so relaxing.

The scent at this point really hits you too. Although it’s still not quite on par with the Yog Nog bath bombs scent I decided while using it that I really liked the product.

Once I have finished I hose myself down and pat myself dry with a towel. My skin smells just like biscuits and is so soft to touch. The scent doesn’t linger on your skin for very long but it stays healthy looking, bright and well hydrated.

I really hope there is a Yog Nog perfume in the Lush Kitchen next week as it’s the only one I didn’t manage to get last year and I’m seriously missing its scent.

Overall I am very impressed with the Yog Log Roulade Shower Smoothie. Now I have finally tried one I can’t wait to use a few of the others currently on offer!

Ruby Red Slippers Bubble Bar from Lush

Ruby Red Slippers Bubble Bar.pngThe scent of the Ruby Red Slippers Bubble Bar is a completely new one to me. There are several other products that share its scent I however just haven’t had the pleasure of using them yet.

After experiencing Ruby Red Slippers I am very, very eager to try the other products that share its scent, which kind of gives away how the rest of this review is going to go… SPOILER ALERT!

The Ruby Red Slippers bubble bar has a spicy yet gentle scent with a musky floral undertone. I feel it suits what people look for in a bath product for the Winter time perfectly. Me especially, anything with a bit of spice gets my vote when the weather is disgustingly cold.

Clearly inspired by the Wizard of Oz because, because, because, because, because it’s in the shape of a sparkly red slipper, I just simply couldn’t help but pick one up to try.

First and foremost I have to point out that the smallest chunk of Ruby Red Slippers bubble bar creates a more than generous amount of fluffy white bath bubbles.

If you’re worrying about value for money because of its smaller size in comparison to the larger bubble bars such as the Brightside or Comforter bubble bar, stop.

I love a bubble bar that can be shared out over several baths, using one whole Ruby Red Slippers would easily fill the whole of my bathroom with bubbles not just my bath tub.

Underneath the thick blanket of silky soft bubbles you will find the most dazzling shade of ruby red bath water.

The bubble bar softens the water a great deal and my winter abused skin relishes in it. It isn’t the most hydrating of bubble bars but unless you have super dry skin I can’t see it causing any problems.

I will be stocking up on these before the Winter is over, it works surprisingly well with the Fizzbanger bath bomb. I cannot recommend pairing the 2 enough!
