Thundersnow Bath Bomb from Lush

Photo 14-03-2017, 22 11 41 The Thundersnow Bath Bomb is yet another product that was originally exclusive to February 2017’s Lush Summit. As soon as the Summit doors opened, photographs of this new and very interesting looking bath bomb were plastered all over Instagram. Up until the Lush Creative Showcase 2017, the Summit was the only place the Thundersnow bath bomb was available. I have updated this review today as the Thundersnow bath bomb is now a part of Lush’s Winter 2017 line.

Thundersnow is the average sized Lush bath bomb, it has a teal and pastel green striped decor that (in my opinion) resembles a watermelon. It however much like the Melomint bubble bar has nothing to do with a watermelon.

Thundersnow has a very gentle, creamy mint fragrance. When bathing in it I couldn’t help but feel as if who ever created it drew inspiration from the Abombinaball, Intergalactic and Haagenbath bath bombs. It seems as if all of the things I love most about the aforementioned bath bombs have been taken out and placed into the Thundersnow bath bomb.

As soon as the Thundersnow bath bomb hits the water a wave of creamy mint fragrance hits you. Teal and pastel green foam froths out of it as it bobs around the waters surface, it’s almost as if it is dancing in the water. After a short while, the Thundersnow bath bomb appears to have lost all of its colour, at this point it is a bright, crisp white.

The patterns that begin to form on top of the water remind me somewhat of the Frozen bath bomb. The water underneath the pretty patterns shimmers and feels silky soft to touch. Laying back in this bath is so incredibly relaxing, it is also soothing not only just on my skin but also my mind. Any tension that had built up over the day floats away.

I could be wrong but I think the below photo shows exactly why this bath bomb is called Thundersnow, it really does look like snow falling from the sky, it also appears to crackle apart on the surface of the water. I’ve never used a bath bomb quite like it before, it’s beautiful!

The effect it creates is very similar to that nail crackle effect that everyone was mad on about 10 years ago. Thundersnow also has popping candy in it which makes for a very interesting bath, snap, crackle and pop!

The Thundersnow bath bomb entertained all of my senses. It was not only visibly stunning but smelt and felt great too. My skin continued to glow hours and hours after getting out of the bath. The bath bombs scent also remained on my skin and it left me feeling so calm and chilled out right into the next day.

I am so pleased that Lush have made this bath bomb readily available through their current Winter line, it truly is a fantastic bath bomb that needs to be experienced by Lushies all over!

Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb from Lush

After falling head over heels in love with 3 out of the 4 newly released jelly bombs I was delighted to see that Lush had yet another up their sleeve. The Lush Kitchen announced that on the 14th of August 2017 a small and very limited amount of brand-new-to-the-world, Snow Fairy Jelly Bombs would become available to order. Although I am desperately trying to save money for next months Lush Showcase, I couldn’t help myself and grabbed a few.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed, I have a feeling that the Snow Fairy jelly bombs will be a part of this years Lush Winter line, therefore potentially being available at the Showcase next month. For everyone that missed out on getting one of these jelly bombs through the Lush Kitchen, I am keeping my eyes peeled and my fingers crossed that my prediction of them becoming available everywhere comes true!

Design wise the Snow Fairy jelly bomb is decorated just like the other jelly bombs, quite unique to anything Lush has created before, each individual jelly bomb has its own shape included in its exterior design, for example, Snow Fairy has a star and the Dark Arts jelly bomb has a mysterious and magical looking eye.

Jelly bombs look and work just like the average Lush bath bomb, the difference between a jelly bomb and a bath bomb is that the jelly bombs produce a foam-like-jelly that floats on the surface of the water instead of just either creating foam or changing the colour of your bath water. Although I was initially a little freaked out at the idea of bathing in what I imagined to be thick gloop, I found that this wasn’t the case at all and the experience of sharing a bath with a Lush jelly bomb was in fact very pleasant.

The magic jelly ingredient in Lush’s jelly bombs is sodium alginate, this is what creates the jelly that floats on the top of your water. I have had a lot of people comment on my Instagram account that they just can’t bring themselves to try a jelly bomb as they fear the consistency. It really isn’t like wading through gunge though, it’s very much like any other bath bomb, it is however a lot more moisturising.

Much like the other jelly bombs I have tried before, the Snow Fairy hisses away sending a burst of white foam with the odd speck of pink across the water surface as soon as it hits the water. Its scent is sugar-sweet, there is a Snow Fairy scented product list as long as my arm. In the Winter it is one of Lush’s biggest sellers, last year (2016) Lush released the brand new Snow Fairy body conditioner I loved it and I am hoping that the Snow Fairy jelly bomb is this year’s Snow Fairy scented Winter line newbie.

Just like the Big Sleep jelly bomb, once Snow Fairy hits the water it begins to bob around, I noticed that the Snow Fairy jelly bomb reacted to being added to the water in exactly the same way as the Green Coconut jelly bomb does, the Dark Arts jelly bomb seems to explode of jelly within seconds, where as the Snow Fairy and Green Coconut jelly bombs take their time.

I didn’t like the Snow Fairy scent that much when I first got into Lush, it did however grow on me and now I always look forward to seeing what product Lush create next with its scent. If the Snow Fairy jelly bomb does become a part of this years Winter line, I don’t think we’ll be seeing the Father Christmas bath bomb again… (also Snow Fairy scented).

For scent and design the Snow fairy jelly bomb gets a 10 out of 10 from me, in my opinion it is by far the prettiest of the jelly bombs, I am however biased as I have never been able to resist anything pink or anything that includes stars.

The only thing I noticed about the Snow Fairy jelly bomb in comparison to the others is how long it took to dissolve. I have the patience of a saint but after 25 minutes I ended up crushing what remained of the jelly bomb up in my hands. This task isn’t easy, with the jelly bits covering most of what remained, it was like playing catch with a fish, which I guess would be quite fun for kids.

Be that as it may, upon getting out of the Snow Fairy jelly bomb bath, my skin did feel amazingly soft and just as moisturised as when I had used the other jelly bombs. The effect the seaweed based sodium alginate ingredient has on your skin is like nothing I have experienced in a cosmetic product before. The Lush jelly bombs are a game changer in regards to skincare, even after a day has passed, your skin still feels soft, smooth and fabulous after sharing a bath with a jelly bomb.

If you find the Snow Fairy scent too sweet, (I did at first myself, don’t feel like an outsider) you’ll be pleased to know that even though its scent does stay with you, it is no where near as strong as when the jelly bomb is first in your hands. It stays on your skin for the best part of the next day but has a very gentle, soft and pleasant aroma. Like the scent that the So White bath bomb has, I find it really comforting.

Snowshowers Shower Jelly

As soon as you take the lid off of the Snowshowers Shower Jelly you are greeted with the comforting and refreshing scent of warming cognac, sweet orange and zesty lime. As its name indicates, Snowshowers is of course a Winter product. I however always have a pot around whatever the season as its scent (named by Lush as the ‘Celebrate’ scent) is one of my favourites.

Lush Cosmetics master scents. Once a scent is mastered, over a very long period of time (sometimes years) they create an abundance of products that share that mastered scent. This is where the Lush term ‘scent family’ comes from, if a product shares the same scent as another new or old one, it’s a part of that scents family.

The Celebrate scent that Snowshowers has, can also be found in a wide range of other Lush products. There’s the Golden Wonder bath bomb which happens to be the product that first introduced me to the Celebrate scent, the Celebrate shower gel and the Celebrate body lotion to name just a few.

Snowshowers shower jelly is a fairly robust product, some of the Lush shower jellies such as the Bouncy Bunny tend to break up really easily but not Snowshowers. I like to use my shower jellies in the same way as you would a bar of soap. Some people however prefer to chop their jellies up, using one piece at a time. It’s all about personal preference, I just prefer to use mine as a whole as I feel it gives me a much better, much creamier lather, plus I love how it feels being worked along my skin, it’s so, so relaxing. Especially on the soles of your feet.

*This is the point of the review where my husband regrets secretly using my Lush shower jellies. ha, ha, I use them on my feet!*

I have found that even with frequent use, Snowshowers takes a very long time to start showing any signs of wear and tear, it takes a good few weeks before it starts to get noticeably smaller which is quite rare for a shower jelly, the only one that I have used that has been as robust as this was the Santa’s Belly shower jelly. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever, I do however find that the Snowshowers shower jelly still lathers up just as well as it did from day one after every use, its quality doesn’t depreciate with age, its scent also remains just as strong right up until the very last slither is left.

Unfortunately I find that the Snowshowers shower jelly leaves my skin quite dry and in need of a little extra hydration after use. I’m not quite sure why it does make my skin feel so dry as I normally always find that the shower products that lather up as well as Snowshowers does the most moisturising.

This problem is however easily solved as a quick dab of Celebrate body lotion once I am out of the shower bounces my skin back into a tip top, perfectly hydrated condition. As the Celebrate body lotion and Snowshowers shower jelly share a scent, using the both together intensifies its gorgeous fragrance further, leaving its scent to stay on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, which is more than perfect for me as I’m a huge fan of the Celebrate scent.

Overall I am very impressed with the Snowshowers shower jelly, it’s a great product that lasts well beyond 10 uses. I know some people shiver at the thought of a Lush bath bomb only being used in one bath, instead maybe a shower jelly is the product for them? If you’re looking to convert someone like this to the Lush side, this shower jelly could just be the product that wins them over!
