Behind the scenes Lush are currently very busy with the creating of packageless ‘naked’ products. After being more than impressed by the likes of the Twilight and Snow Fairy naked shower gels, I couldn’t wait to try out the other formats of naked products that Lush currently have on offer.

Seeing as I got on so well with the brand new Buck’s Fizz body conditioner, I thought trying its ‘naked’ equivalent was a step in the right direction for my next, naked-Lush-product experience. To quickly round up on what a body conditioner is, they are basically body lotions that can be used in the bath/shower. They are perfect if you’re lazy (like me) and can never be bothered to moisturise after getting out of the bath/shower.

Buck’s Fizz shares its scent with the much loved Golden Wonder bath bomb which happens to be one of my favourite of the Winter Lush scents, rich with cognac, lime and Brazilian orange oils it has a boozy, citrus-fruit kick that leaves you feeling warm, content and snug as a bug.

All of Lush’s body conditioners are designed to make keeping your skin hydrated an effortless task. The Buck’s Fizz naked body conditioner is pretty much the same as the potted version (apart from the obvious). All of the naked body conditioners are similar consistency wise to Lush massage bars, although they are a lot more robust and not quite as easily melted.

To use them, all you need to do is work them into your skin just as you would a bar of soap. After massaging it into your body you are then meant to gently rinse yourself off followed by you then patting yourself dry with a towel. I advise that you do not go crazy with the rinsing off, leaving a small amount of it on is the same as leaving a body lotion on. When I have used just enough of it to do my whole body, I find it soaks into your skin very quickly leaving it looking and feeling healthy, hydrated and luxurious.

A very small amount of the Buck’s Fizz naked body conditioner goes a very long way and although storing the naked body conditioners is a little difficult due to it being packageless, it not being in a pot also has its practical as well as ethical advantages. Especially if you’re like me and have bad hands (therefore not being able to open lids easily).

To store my naked body conditioners, I keep them in an open Lush tin, left out of the water stream (if used in the shower) I find keeping it perched in one of the tins is the best way to make it last, letting it dry in between uses is key to making sure you get the most you can out of it.

Overall I am very impressed with the Buck’s Fizz naked body conditioner, I didn’t really get the whole idea of the naked products at first but with every one I try I am growing more and more fond of them. Yes, they do require a little bit more effort to store them but when you think of the positive impact packageless products are having on the world I feel it’s worth it. They are so much easier to just grab and use in a rush too, no tricky lid fiddling makes me a very happy lushie!

The Magic of Christmas Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

It’s always so exciting to get your hands on a brand new Lush product but there’s nothing quite like having one of your favourites return year in, year out. The Magic of Christmas Reusable Bubble Bar wand is definitely one of my all time favourite from the winter line.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’ll know that I’m normally not the biggest fan of the reusable bubble bars. I feel as though they are more of a novelty product than anything else, I also find that the majority of them just aren’t as colourful or vibrant in use as the ordinary bubble bars are.

Lush put a lot of effort into making the reusable bubble bars look beautiful and desirable but in my personal opinion, Lush tend to relax a little with them in regards to how well they work as an actual bubble bar. The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar is however the exception to this, it creates just as many bubbles and the brightest of orange water giving the Brightside bubble bar (an ordinary bubble bar) a serious amount of competition.

Last year, (2016) Lush released 4 reusable bubble bars for their winter line, I can’t help but think that the Jester and Santasaurus reusable bubble bars didn’t make a return for 2017 because of how dull the bubble bars made the colour of the bath water.

The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar however never fails to return and it’s not hard to see why. For me, it ticks all of the boxes of things I look for in a bubble bar. It looks beautiful, smells fantastically moreish, creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, all while turning your bath water a sparkly and warm shade of orange.

The thing that I like the most about the Magic of Christmas wand is that its stick is in fact a real cinnamon stick, it’s such a good idea. I love cinnamon so can never get enough of this bubble bar. You can use every last piece of this bubble bar, even the decorative ribbon and bell tied around it can be used again.

The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar creates a generous amounts of spicy-scented, fluffy white bubbles in no time at all. I can easily get 6 baths out of just the one bubble bar which makes it incredible value for money. To use it all you have to do is hold it under the tap like in the photograph above. Once you have your desired amount of bubbles you simply place it on the side so that it can dry, ready for you to use it again whenever you wish.

Decorated with cinnamon seeds and organic cloves the Magic of Christmas literally smells like my idea of heaven, I don’t think Christmas would ever be the same should Lush decide to retire this bubble bar. When the winter weather is dragging me down there is nothing better than a Magic of Christmas bath to lift me out of the darkest of winter blues. The cinnamon and clove packed ingredients work a treat on over worked and aching muscles as well as brightening up my tired and dull skin.

The Magic of Christmas also makes the bath water silky smooth, it soothes and nourishes my dry skin perfectly. My current favourite Lush cocktail that includes the Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar is, Magic of Christmas, the Christmas Sweater bath bomb and Hot Toddy shower gel. They all mix so well together and are all brilliant products. Hot Toddy isn’t very easy to get now that the Lush Kitchen is in limbo but if you ever get a chance to grab a bottle on ebay etc, DO IT!

Overall I am completely besotted by this beautiful bubble bar, I always make sure I have stocked up on them before winter is through. I have actually had the privilege of making one of these by hand myself, I haven’t included a photo of my version because it was awful, It’s a lot harder to make Lush products than it looks!

Golden Pear Soap from Lush

When it comes down to Lush Cosmetics I rarely review the soaps. This isn’t because I dislike them, I just get through them so slowly that I am currently still working through a long list of soaps from 2014! The fact that they can be used day in day out, while lasting so long is a real credit to Lush. At the 2017 Lush Creative Showcase I was instantly drawn towards the Golden Pear Soap. It looks just like a real pear and photographs beautifully, realising this, I couldn’t help but bump it to the top of my review list.

The Golden Pear has a very sophisticated scent, its ingredients include pear puree, cardamom oil, Brazilian orange oil, sandalwood and murumuru butter. What I like most about this soap is how its scent differs from when you first have it to when you use it. Straight off of the shelf the Golden Pear has a strong and very sour scent, it’s not sour in the same way as the Calacas shower gel is though. The use of actual pear seems to soften the zest of the orange oil in it while also giving it a sweeter edge. It reminds me of boiled sweets that you’d get from one of the old fashioned sweet shops, pear drops and pineapple cubes spring to mind.

Once in use the Golden Pears scent becomes less sour and a much warmer fragrance. The pear in it that smells so fresh at first quickly becomes more musky and super sweet. This extra layer of warmth reminds me ever so slightly of the Fizzbanger bath bomb. As I mentioned above, the Golden Pear soap looks just like a real pear. That is until you see that the soap is in fact divided into 2 pieces then stuck back together with a creamy center, much like one of Lush’s popular bubbleroons. Yuzu and Cocoa and Peeping Santa being 2 of my personal favourites from the bubbleroon family.

Sadly for bubbleroon fans Golden Pear is just a soap, sorry if I got your hopes up when making the comparison… It is however a very good soap so don’t feel too hard done by. It lathers up quickly while its pear like design also makes it the perfect shape for wet hands, there’s no slipping and sliding in your hands with this soap, it’s a very easy lather.

It’s very normal for a bar of soap to dry out my hands, with the Golden Pear soap this doesn’t however happen. Alongside its truly unique scent, this is what made me really like the Golden Pear soap. The murumuru butter in it makes it so much more moisturising than other bars of soap, it leaves my skin feeling so soft. Its scent does however fade on me quite quickly, it doesn’t seem to last on my skin but I have heard others say it does on theirs so don’t just take my word for it.

As Lush soaps go, the Golden Pear is certainly one of the best to have come out this year. I like its scent but can see how some may find it a little over powering, its sweetness level is up there with the Snow Fairy fragrance.

The oddly shaped soaps that are famous from Lush are often a little difficult to handle. In my opinion a lot of them are more of a novelty product than anything else. Golden Pear however breaks the mold, it’s a work of art as well as a brilliant soap. The fact it doesn’t even look like a soap gives it that special edge. Thanks to the Golden Pear soap I have decided that I need to give Lush’s soap selection more credit, expect to see a lot more soap reviews here in the foreseeable future!
