SpongeBob Bath Bomb from Lush

For plastic-free-July, Lush collaborated with the American animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants to help keep our oceans and waterways clean. One part of the collaboration was the Lush X SpongeBob collection and the other was a SpongeBob, Lush Kitchen exclusive themed box.

Today I’ll be reviewing the SpongeBob Bath Bomb from the main Lush X SpongeBob collection.

What I loved the most about the Lush X SpongeBob collaboration is that you could enjoy all of the products even if you aren’t a fan/are not familiar with the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. I happen to be a lifelong fan of SpongeBob so was generally so excited to see so many amazing SpongeBob themed products!

The SpongeBob bath bomb is a bath bomb shaped as the main character of the SpongeBob SquarePants television series.

He is a bright yellow, happy-go-lucky, accident-prone sea sponge with brown short square shaped pants, a white shirt and red tie. He is often unintentionally annoying and quite often strange but has a heart of gold who would do anything for his loved ones and probably strangers too.

The SpongeBob bath bomb shares its scent with the Cyclops bubble bar from Lush’s 2022 Halloween line. It’s a fairly new scent to Lush but it’s made the odd appearance through several new products and has proven very popular. It is described as a ‘passion fruit’ fragrance.

The SpongeBob bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients, it has pineapple powder, popping candy and the following essential oils; Buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil and sweet wild orange oil.

The bath bombs passion fruit like fragrance really fits in with the tropical theme of the SpongeBob television series. The end credit song played in my head on a loop even while I was just thinking about the bath bomb while writing this review.

Its scent is super uplifting and the more I sniff it the more I want it, it is simply delicious! It makes me want to book a sunny holiday where I can sit on a beach, sand between my toes, drinking fruity cocktails.

As soon as you place the SpongeBob bath bomb into your bath water a burst of yellow foam spills out of it. Slowly but surely the SpongeBob bath bomb bubbles away, filling your bathroom with its mouth wateringly delightful scent.

I ignorantly assumed that the SpongeBob bath bomb would just be the standard, yellow-only bath bomb that didn’t have any other colour inside of it, a bit like the Avobath bath bomb. I was however very wrong…

After approximately 3 minutes the popping candy begins to snap, crackle and pop away and an aqua blue colour begins to make a show in amongst the yellow foam.

The photos I took and have included in this review do the SpongeBob bath bomb no justice at all, the bath art it created was incredible. It reminded me of the bath art that the long discontinued Fizzbanger bath bomb used to create. The blue and yellow colours clash so perfectly.

It takes about 6 or 7 minutes for the SpongeBob bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is bright green thanks to the mix of yellow and aqua blue bath art.

I didn’t find the bath bomb drying on my skin, but I wouldn’t say it left me particularly hydrated either. Its passion fruit scent stayed on my skin long after getting out of the bath.

As seen in the photo above, hidden inside of the SpongeBob bath bomb are SpongeBob’s pants!

Overall, I really enjoyed the SpongeBob bath bomb. It ticked so many boxes in what I like in a bath bomb, it smelt great, lifted my mood, and created the most gorgeous bath art too. The hidden paper pants also put a huge smile on my face.

The Lush collaboration products just keep getting better and better, what a fantastic and fun product the SpongeBob bath bomb is!

Welcome Bath Bomb from Lush

Lush believe that all people should enjoy freedom of movement across the world, wherever refugees come from and however they got here, Lush believe that all are WELCOME. Enter the creation of the Welcome Bath Bomb!

Lush have partnered with Refugee Action, a long-established independent charity who have supported refugees and people seeking asylum since 1981.

All proceeds for the sales of the Welcome bath bomb minus the VAT will go directly to Refugee Action allowing for them to continue their work supporting people and providing expert advice and guidance to those struggling to navigate the asylum system in the UK. You can learn more about Refugee Action by clicking here.

The Welcome bath bomb is half blue and half green, its green top has the word ‘Welcome’ etched into it.

The Welcome bath bomb scent is from Lush’s Love scent-family, the most recently released products that share the same scent are the Love shower gel and Love body spray.

If you’ve been a Lushie for quite some time you may also remember the same scent featuring in the legendary Fizzbanger bath bomb too.

The Welcome bath bomb contains the following essential oils, bergamot, lavender, and lemongrass.

My nose mostly picks up on the lemongrass and bergamot oil in it. It smells sweet with a pinch of spice and a mix of very sharp yet musky citrus.

On Lush’s website the Welcome bath bombs scent is described as being a soft scent, I have to disagree; I feel as if any products from the Love scent-family always seem to take over any room that it is in. The scent does soften with time but in my opinion, it is very powerful.

As soon as the Welcome bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water the blue and green halves begin to gently fizz away.

The Welcome bath bomb isn’t a foamy bath bomb so you do not get much bath art from it. Welcome doesn’t take long to dissolve either.

After about 4 minutes of it fizzing away it’s gone. Leaving you plenty of time to sit back and relax in its waters.

The water left behind by the Welcome bath bomb is a beautiful shade of turquoise blue, it is soft and warming on the skin.

Its scent is still incredibly powerful right up until the last drop goes down your plug hole.

Hydration wise my skin loves the Welcome bath bomb. I can still smell it on my skin for several hours after getting out of the bath too.

Inside the Welcome bath bomb is a hidden paper insert. On it is the message ‘Welcome, come on a journey’ with a QR code, if you use your phones camera to scan the QR code it will take you to follow a refugee’s journey from their home countries as they try to find safety and asylum in the UK.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Welcome bath bomb, I love the charity work that Lush do and how they give a voice and platform to those that need to be heard and helped.

If you can, please go buy yourself a Welcome bath bomb, it’s for a great cause!

Asteroid Bath Bomb from Lush

2023 has been a very busy year for Lush, not only are they churning out products from their normal seasonal lines but also taking part in collaboration after collaboration too. Today I am reviewing the Asteroid Bath Bomb from the Lush X Asteroid City collab!

Unfortunately, my local cinema closed so I still haven’t seen the new Asteroid City movie but that hasn’t stopped me from appreciating this mini collab.

The Asteroid bath bomb is shaped just as its name suggests, it’s a mix of dark shimmery blue and purple and even has crater holes.

The Asteroid bath bomb shares its scent with the Asteroid City shower gel from the same line as well as the Space Girl bath bomb and Very Very Frightening shower gel.

Asteroid contains grapefruit, bergamot, and almond oils as well as a generous helping of popping candy.

The ‘Space Girl scent’ is a much-loved scent family within the Lush community and I’m always happy to try it, in whatever format Lush chooses to release it in.

The Asteroid bath bombs scent isn’t an easy one to describe but I’ll give it my best shot, the first thing that I think of when sniffing the Asteroid bath bomb is raspberries. It’s a very gentle, berry scent.

It is not at all overpowering like some Lush scents are. It would be a good choice if you prefer the softer Lush scents.

The Asteroid bath bomb is the same size as the standard Lush bath bomb such as, Avobath or Twilight and fits snuggly in my hand.

As soon as the Asteroid bath bomb encounters your bath water a burst of blue, purple, and red foam bursts out of it. Slowly it starts to fizz away, charging around your bath like a mini speed boat.

As it spins around, blue, purple, and red bath art continues to spill out of it. The bath art colours are not dissimilar to the likes created by the Intergalactic bath bomb.

It doesn’t take long for the popping candy within the Asteroid bath bomb to make an appearance either. As the bath bomb spills out the array of colours and raspberry-like scent, the popping candy snap, crackles, and pops away putting on quite the show.

The photos in this review do the Asteroid bath bomb no justice at all. The bath art was insanely pretty!

It takes a good 10 minutes for the Asteroid bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is a beautiful shade of purply blue. It’s incredibly shimmery, making me think of the nights sky. It’s like laying back in your own galaxy.

The water is a little tingly on my skin which I often find is the case when a bath bomb contains popping candy.

My skin laps up all the bath bombs goodness, leaving it feeling silky smooth. Once you’re out of the bath the light raspberry scent can still be smelt on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

Overall, I really enjoyed having a new bath bomb to try in the ‘Space Girl’ scent, I do love the Space Girl bath bomb, but the bath art is what really sets the Asteroid bath bomb apart from the Space Girl bath bomb.

I am looking forward to reviewing further products from this collab over the next few days!
