Atom Heart Mother Bath Bomb from Lush

The Atom Heart Mother Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2021 Mother’s Day collection. When I learnt that it shared its scent with my all-time favourite Lush bath bomb (So White 2016 edition) I ordered 2 as soon as they became available.

The Atom Heart Mother bath bomb is light blue in colour and decorated with 3 white clouds on its top part, a lot of people have been comparing the cloud design to the ‘Woody wallpaper’ used in Andy’s bedroom in the Disney film, Toy Story.

A lot of Lush customers have become rather perplexed at the point of discovering the Atom Heart Mother bath bombs peculiar name. I myself was very confused, as well as slightly annoyed with its name. As someone who never stops talking about Lush a name that doesn’t roll off of the tongue can be some-what bothersome! 😉

After a quick Google I learnt that Lush didn’t just throw 3 random words together; The Atom Heart Mother bath bombs name was in fact inspired by the name of Pink Floyd’s first number 1 album.

I personally couldn’t name or sing/hum a single Pink Floyd song even if my life depended on it. I am however confident that many older customers (or those with a wide range of musical knowledge) will get the reference immediately.

According to Google, the rock band came up with the albums bizarre name after coming across an article in a newspaper that was about a woman who had been fitted with a ‘nuclear-powered pacemaker’. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether that is true or not!

Now that the Atom Heart Mothers peculiar name has been explained some-what, I can begin to let you all know my thoughts on the bath bomb itself.

When my parcel containing the Atom Heart Mother bath bombs arrived, I was pleased to see (or should I say smell) that its scent was exactly the same as the So White bath bomb that I mentioned earlier. Containing a blend of rose absolute, bergamot, neroli and Brazilian orange oils the Atom Heart Mothers scent smells just like crisp, freshly sliced apple chunks.

As soon as the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb comes in to contact with your bath water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of small blue and white bubbles. After a minute or so pink bubbles begin to materialise from it as well.

It doesn’t take long for the pink bubbles to become the most dominant of the 3 colours spurting out of the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb. Slowly but surely pink, white and small flecks of blue-bubbly-foam make beautiful swirling patterns on the bath water’s surface as the Atom Heart Mother charges around like a miniature power boat.

Underneath the blanket of beautiful bath art left behind by the bath bomb is silky soft, lilac coloured bath water. Unlike some Lush bath bombs the Atom Heart bath bombs scent remains through-out the entire time you are in the bath. Once out of the bath the apple scent also remains on your skin for the rest of the day.

I always come out of an Atom Heart Mother bath feeling instantly refreshed, its scent is incredibly uplifting and always gives me a real happiness-boost. I can’t help but top up its scent with the Once Upon A Time body sprayAtom Heart Mothers body spray equivalent.

Any product that has the So White/Once Upon A Time fragrance will always be one of my favourites as, as I said earlier it is one of if not my favourite Lush scent family. Since taking the colour out of the So White bath bomb back in 2019 the Lush Community have been crying out for a colourful tantamount and the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb does not disappoint! 😊

Violet Cream Bubble Bar from Lush

The Violet Cream Bubble Bar is 1 of 2 limited edition flower-shaped-bubble-bars from 2021’s Mother’s Day line. When my Mother’s Day order first arrived, before I’d even had a chance to scoop out the packing peanuts the Violet Cream bubble bar was the first product my nose picked up on.

Sharing its scent with Lush’s much-loved Daddy-O shampoo, I knew immediately that Violet Cream would sell well. SPOILER ALERT, if you like Parma Violet sweets, then Violet Cream really is the bubble bar for you!

The Violet Cream bubble bar is around the same size at the Peachy bath bomb. It is just the right size to fit snuggly in to your hand. While it’s not as big as the likes of the Brightside bubble bar it’s definitely substantial enough to be spread out over 2 baths.

The Violet Cream bubble bar is a bright and beautiful shade of purple. As well as its striking colour, Violet Cream is decorated with a sprinkling of plastic-free-natural shimmer which is very similar to the shimmer used to decorate the Melusine bath bomb. To finish off its flower-look, a single yellow tapioca pearl is placed in its middle, surrounded by its petals.

As I said earlier, if you like Parma Violet sweets Violet Cream is well worth trying. Containing both violet leaf and rose absolute, Violet Creams scent is one of the most inviting and uplifting fragrances available in this year’s Mother’s Day selection.

For violet coloured water and plenty of fluffy white bubbles simply crumble the Violet Cream bubble bar under the tap as your bath fills up. It wasn’t until I broke the Violet Cream bubble bar up that I realised how it got its name. Inside the Violet-flower-shaped bubble bar is its ‘cream’.

When I first see the ‘cream’ inside of it, I thought it was the same as the substance that holds a Lush bubbleroon together, the cream in this bubble bar is however a little different. It’s a really soft and workable cake/biscuit like icing.

When crumbling the ‘cream’ part under the running tap it was a lot more robust than the bubble bar part, taking a lot longer to break up.

I did find that it took a little more effort to make bubbles with the Violet Cream bubble bar than normal, whether this was something to do with the ‘cream’ part I’m not sure but other than that I can’t fault it. The water was luxuriously soft and it left my skin feeling even softer. I really enjoyed using Violet Cream and have ordered a few more as the scent really is to die for.

4:20PM CBD Bath Bomb from Lush

The 4:20pm CBD Bath Bomb is a brand-new product and is the first of its kind from Lush. It was released back on Christmas Eve, 2020. CBD is short for cannabidiol, cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants which I am sure many sceptical people will be pleased to hear, means that using this bath bomb will not get you high.

There has been a lot of research conducted around the use of CBD oil and it is said to have a long list of health-benefits. In particular it helps with stress management and those suffering with anxiety and/or sleep problems.

CBD has also been proven to help people like me, who suffer from medical conditions that cause wide-spread chronic pain. The very reason I first got into Lush Cosmetics was because I was looking for natural alternatives to prescription painkiller medications. With this in mind I of course ordered a couple of the 4:20pm CBD bath bombs without hesitation as soon as they became available.

The above photo shows you both sides of the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb, it has to be the oddest shaped bath bomb I have seen from Lush to date. One side of the CBD bath bomb is round and green, and the other side is baby-pink with a peculiar square and triangle crystal-like-design. The green side has 4:20 etched into it and the baby-pink side has the words LUSH CBD etched into it.

There are several unconfirmed theories behind how the 4:20pm bath bomb got its name, I thought it was because during the first UK lockdown that is when Mark, the co-founder of Lush Cosmetics liked to take his daily bath. My husband however says it’s to do with a ‘special time’ associated with getting high. A sort of secret code between groups of friends.

I think I prefer the bath time theory but both could be the reason behind its name. Lush do like to poke fun at certain things and are well known for being and saying things that are a little tongue-in-cheek.

As soon as the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb comes into contact with the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of green and light pink bubbles. It’s a fairly quick fizzer and doesn’t create any bath art. This gives you ample time to sit back, relax and reap the benefits of this carefully crafted bath bomb with no distractions.

The 4:20pm CBD bath bomb contains cannabidiol, patchouli and sandalwood oils, it scent is earthy, woody and calming. Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with silky soft, moss-green bath water. It left my skin looking brighter and more hydrated yet not at all oily.

Once I was out of the bath I did feel very relaxed, I wouldn’t say I was anymore relaxed than I’d normally be after just an ordinary Lush bath though. I will have to try the CBD bath bomb a few more times before I can be sure as to whether the cannabidiol had any real/extra effects on me pain-relief wise.

After my bath I did go on to have quite a stressful day and I admit I got through it better than I normally would have, whether this was to do with the lingering effects of the bath bomb will remain a mystery but I’d certainly be happy to use this bath bomb again either way. 😊
