Roses All The Way Soap from Lush

Roses All The Way Soap.png

We haven’t even finished the first quarter of 2016 and already Lush have brought out more new and exciting products than I can keep up with. We’ve had the Valentine’s Day range, the Mother’s Day range and of course the Easter range as well as everything else in-between.

In all honesty I am literally stuck in a state of disbelief that we have actually already entered March?! As the saying goes – time flies when you’re having fun and with all of the new Lush goodies on offer, by me, fun is most certainly being had!

Today I am reviewing the Roses All The Way Soap, never before been released – this beautiful heart shaped, rose detailed soap had me intrigued within seconds of stumbling across it.

The Roses All The Way Soap is a generous size that takes up the best part of my hand. Comparing it to the usual, rectangular soap slabs its unique design, size and shape make it a lot easier to grip when using it in the bath or shower. For me, as a disabled person my particular needs in a soap are catered for just on the fact that it is easier to grip. Until my Lush addiction hit me bad, I was never a fan of floral scents, I don’t know why but I had always associated rose, lavender and other flowery scents with getting old.

Slowly but surely the Rose Jam scent however grew on me, alongside that, a lot of other scents that I never thought I’d enjoy all of a sudden became desirable.  I’d go as far as to say that my sense of smell has matured since joining the Lush crowd. I am now recognising and appreciating scents I had never really taken much notice of before. Lush has opened my eyes and although I am still far from an expert when it comes to scents, I am getting better!

Roses All The Way Soap is of course primarily a rose scent. At first I thought it was the Rose Jam scent but after a while I realised it actually has a softer floral tone and is actually quite sweet, almost zesty.  The more I used it, the more prominent the lemon oil in it appeared to be.

The idea behind this soap was inspired by Alice In Wonderland’s ‘painting the roses red’ part of the book. The back of the soap is white, as you use it, its red side starts to turn a light pink, eventually fading to a bright white. Any one who is familiar with the Alice in Wonderland story will know that the Queen of Hearts angrily demands that all of the white roses in her court yard are to be painted red. Painting the white roses red is exactly what her pack-of-card guards set upon doing.

Several hours after my bath I can still smell this soaps soft and zingy fragrance on my skin. It lathered up well and didn’t dry out my skin which has amazed me as most bars of soap do, especially those that are primarily floral.

Overall I am really impressed with Roses All The Way, it’s a wonderful addition to the Lush Soap family. Since enjoying it so much I have made it my new Lush goal to try several more Lush soaps in the near future. Watch this space!

Yummy Mummy Shower Cream from Lush

Yummy Mummy Shower Cream

I have finally found a moment to blog about one of the new Mother’s Day products from Lush. This year (2016) we have been treated to a brand new product, the Yummy Mummy Shower Cream. Previous to this, Yummy Mummy had only ever been released as a shower gel.

*Lush did also create a body conditioner with the same name but for the purpose of this review I am talking about the change from Yummy Mummy shower gel, to Yummy Mummy shower cream*

I guess turning the shower gel into a cream brings the best parts of the shower gel and body conditioner into one product. I know that not everyone is happy with the switch from gel to cream, I however love the change. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Yummy Mummy shower gel, I just always seem to favour the shower creams over the gels. For me, the shower creams feel just that little bit more luxurious in comparison to the gels.

Obviously the first thing that catches your eye with Yummy Mummy shower cream is its beautiful lustre-infused purple colour. The Yummy Mummy shower cream looks and feels like liquid velvet, it’s a real treat for dehydrated skin.

Once you have used the shower cream its sweet, fruity scent lingers on your skin long after getting out of the bath or shower.

Yummy Mummy shower cream shares its scent with the 2015 winter ranges bubble bar, the Peeping Santa. I loved Peeping Santa and was very happy to see the Yummy Mummy scent making a return in yet another format for this years Mother’s Day line.

What pleases me even more is that the Yummy Mummy shower cream is not the only product available in this years Mother’s day range that shares the scent, there is also the Roller bath bomb and Flutterby bubble bar too.

Although I’d say this shower cream is primarily a fruity scented product, the added geranium oil within it, though not very strong, gives it a very unique and soft, almost musky edge. It reminds me of freshly chopped strawberries which makes a change as most of the other fruity products that I normally go for are citrus based.

I really do hope that they bring this wonderful shower cream back for next years Mother’s Day.  I am so tempted to buy several to keep in my Lush stock but I’m trying to be good. I will have to just use the shower cream sparingly, which might I add isn’t a negative at all as a little of this shower cream goes a very, very long way.

Sacred Lotus Bath Bomb from Lush

I have been waiting to try out this bath bomb ever since it was released as a Lush, Oxford Street exclusive, it has a design like no other bath bomb. It resembles the shape and appearance of a lotus flower, its uniqueness makes it one of the more attractive, exciting and greatly anticipated products that were created exclusively for the Oxford Street, grand opening collection.

In colour it is white and yellow with purple upright petals; Often described as ‘star-shaped’ the Sacred Lotus is a very pretty product. Unfortunately the shape of the bath bomb leaves it vulnerable. I still haven’t managed to transport one from Oxford Street to my home in North Yorkshire safely. I’m hoping that should Lush decide the bath bombs vulnerable shape is a fault, that the idea of a redesign outshines the choice to discontinuing it as they did the easily breakable Granny Takes A Dip bath bomb earlier this year (2015).

The Sacred Lotus Bath Bomb has neroli oil, jasmine and tonka absolute in. When I finally made it to Oxford Street and I had a big pile of them in front of me all I could really smell was the jasmine. I was completely oblivious to the neroli oil within it. I had expected the Sacred Lotus to have a very strong scent it was however quite the opposite, very gentle.

When I very first used the Sacred Lotus bath bomb it wasn’t until it was half way through its show, fizzing away in my bath water that I realised its scent had so much more depth to it. All of a sudden I was hit with a wave of fruityness and I realised that it  also had neroli oil in.

Neroli is one of my favourite essential oils as it not only smells beautiful but it has been scientifically proven to increase the production of serotonin levels in the brain, a.k.a the happy hormone.

Apart from its delicacy, Sacred Lotus is a very enjoyable bath bomb. A real sacred lotus is an aquatic plant, similar to a lily pad and it is found in India. I like how the bath bomb resembles this in use.

Jasmine absolute is a very popular ingredient throughout India too. It therefore made perfect sense for Lush to pair the jasmine ingredient in with the Sacred Lotus bath bomb.

Upon hitting the water Sacred Lotus begins to fizz, leaving a trail of white, purple and yellow foam. During the bath bombs reaction with the water near the end, the purple petals break off going off on their own little journey of purple fizz.

Sacred Lotus is a truly unique Lush bath bomb that every Lushie has to experience in the flesh at least once, it isn’t until you see a bath bomb like this in action that you appreciate how much work goes into each and every Lush product.
