Bubble Lugosi Bubble Bar from Lush

The Bubble Lugosi Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2022 Halloween line. Designed to look just like a vampire, this glow-in-the-dark bubble bar was one of the first of this year’s Halloween products to catch my attention.

You may recognise the Bubble Lugosi bubble bars scent as it also features in one of Lush’s all-year-round products the Blackberry bath bomb. Bubble Lugosi is also not the first Halloween bubble bar to share its scent with the Blackberry bath bomb as it can also be found in the now-retired, Bewitched bubble bar from past Halloween lines.

The Bubble Lugosi bubble bar is approximately 100g so small in comparison to other bubble bars in its price range such as The Comforter – The Comforter is twice its size and the same price.

The Bubble Lugosi bubble bar contains bergamot and olibanum oils, a combination that has to be one of the most relaxing blends Lush have ever come up with. Anything with this bubble bars scent is a hit in my house. It’s fruity yet warm, to me, it is completely irresistible!

It brightens your mood while lulling you into a more relaxed state of mind, I find it particularly effective before bed, using it always helps me drift off to sleep much quicker. If you favour the products with a less-complicated scent, then Bubble Lugosi would be a great choice for you to try out.

As mentioned above, Bubble Lugosi glows in the dark – See above photo. While this doesn’t really make much difference in use; The bubbles glow very faintly but not enough for me to really notice it (this may differ depending on where your bathtub and bathroom lighting is) it does make bath time a little more interesting.

To use the Bubble Lugosi bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubble bars.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

One of my favourite things about Lush’s bubble bars is that unlike bath bombs, bubble bars can be spread out over several baths. You could get at least 3 adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Bubble Lugosi bubble bar without it hindering the quality of it at all, making it good value for money.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubbles to form. Underneath the blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns a blue-like-purple, the photo above does the colour of the water no justice at all.

A Bubble Lugosi bubble bath leaves your skin silky-smooth and well nourished. Its scent lasts on your skin for several hours after getting out of the bath too.

Overall, I am glad Lush released this. At first I wondered what the point was considering we’d already had a bubble bar with the same fragrance in past Halloween lines BUT it was actually really fun revisiting the scent in a slightly different way. I can see this bubble bar selling very well, especially with it being glow-in-the-dark!

Tarantula Shower Jelly from Lush

This year I am starting off my Halloween Lush-product-reviews with the Tarantula Shower Jelly. The Tarantula shower jelly is a brand-new, limited-edition, Halloween product that first became available in the UK at the end of August 2022.

Designed to look just like a tarantula, when news of its existence first leaked online, I wasn’t even sure if I was even going to buy the shower jelly. I am absolutely terrified of spiders due to an unforgettable experience with an African bird eating spider in my bedroom in Cyprus when I was just 5 years old.

I won’t go into detail as you’re here for my review of the shower jelly BUT I just wanted to explain that there was a real life, childhood experience behind my irrational fear of spiders… 😬

Despite my fear of the 8-legged-beast, I braved giving the Tarantula shower jelly a sniff in-store and after discovering it smelt absolutely delicious, I decided to take one home with me. I just have to keep reminding myself that it is not a real spider

The Tarantula shower jelly contains a long list of ingredients including cherry infusion, activated charcoal and some of the following essential oils; Davana, lime and almond.

As I said earlier, its scent is delicious, people have asked me to compare it with something and for me, it really reminds me of the drink, Dr Pepper but with hints of boozy, cherry amaretto too.

With Tarantula being a character shaped shower jelly, I was hesitant to use it in the same way as I would an ordinary pot-shaped shower jelly as unfortunately I find more often than not, that the character shaped jellies aren’t always as sturdy and robust as the normal pot-shaped ones.

As predicted, The Tarantula shower jelly did begin to fall apart after just one use even when I was gentle with it. However, I’ve used it 2 more times and although it is showing wear and tear, there’s still plenty more of it to go around yet.

There is no right or wrong way to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. – I used its 8 legs to my advantage, placing my fingers in-between them, this made it so much easier to grip it in the shower.

The Tarantula shower jelly lathers up quickly and creates a super creamy foam. A little goes a very long way and glides over your skin with ease. Its gorgeous cherry scent fills your bathroom as soon as you take its lid off BUT it’s not until the shower jelly is in use that its scent really comes alive. Mixed alongside the hot water and steam of the shower, its scent literally engulfs you in yummy cherry-ness!

At first its attention to detail (especially its made-to-look-hairy back and its 8 legs) made me feel uneasy but the biodegradable, holographic-rainbow-shimmer inside of it alongside its scent made it easy to fall in love with. After stepping out of the shower my skin is left feeling soft, clean, and fresh, it also appears somewhat brighter. It isn’t a hugely moisturising shower jelly but doesn’t leave me desperate to coat myself in body lotion after I have used it either.

Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Tarantula shower jelly and I am glad that I didn’t let the fact it is spider-shaped put me off of buying it, I can’t wait to see if Lush create more products that share this shower jellies scent in the near future! 🍒

Alien Bubble Bar from Lush

The Alien Bubble Bar is yet another brand-new, product from Lush’s limited-edition 2021 Halloween line. Designed in the shape of a bright-green-alien-head with 2 big, jet-black eyes, it’s both cute and creepy.

I wouldn’t ordinarily match aliens up with Halloween but alien films scare me a lot more than films with serial killers, blood, and guts so I suppose they are definitely spooky enough to fit into the Halloween range…

Many customers including myself had hoped that the Alien bubble bar shared its scent with the Calacas shower gel (a much loved Halloween favourite) Alien however contains bergamot, litsea cubeba and benzoin resinoid.

Its scent is zesty but is not a part of the Calacas scent family. It’s a lot more zesty and much more potent, it reminds me of a mixture of the Avobath and Melusine bath bombs. If you’re looking for a bubble bar to give yourself a boost, look no further.

Alien fits snuggly in my hand, it’s roughly the same size as last year’s Halloween bubble bar, Bewitched. You can easily get 2 bubble baths out of the one bar. Or one super luxurious one!

To use the Alien bubble bar I recommend breaking it up and running it under the hot tap as your bath fills up. Some people just run it under the tap in their hand, others use it in a sieve. I find the sieve method a lot more effective as it stops any product from escaping, helping you reach its maximum bubble potential!

Once the bubble bar has gone from the sieve, another trick for extra bubbles is to use the shower head. While it’s on, holding the shower head close to the water, pointing it right into the bath for just a minute will help the amount of bubbles you have almost double.

The bubbles form very quickly as the tap runs over the bubble bar, underneath the blanket of bubbles the water turns a beautiful shade of neon green. The scent fills your bathroom leaving you feeling refreshed, uplifted, and ready to take on the day.

The bubbles from the Alien bubble bar last throughout your bath. Some bubble-bars’-bubbles don’t hang around in the same way, disappearing long before you pull the plug. Alien’s bubbles however stick around lasting longer in the bath than you do!

Once out of the bath its scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day – which is quite rare for zesty and citrusy products. My skin feels hydrated and also appears brighter too.

Overall, I am really impressed with the Alien bubble bar, I love how green it turns the water and how its scent wakes me up. While I don’t think I can ever forgive Lush for not bringing the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb back for Halloween, I’m glad they’ve given us this zesty bubble bar to fill part of the void that its absence has left.
