Butterball Bath Bomb from Lush

butterball-bath-bombThe Butterball bath bomb is one of those products that forever live in the shadow of other more attractive and pleasing on the eye, bath bombs.

With the likes of Frozen and Yoga Bomb to compete with, you can see why Butterball may get ignored and left at the bottom of your drawer…

This year I however promised myself that when it comes to Lush, I would stop just going for the products that speak to me straight away. This is when I decided to give the Butterball bath bomb a go and ever since I’ve been kicking myself for not using it sooner.

Butterball is a small bath bomb compared to most of the other Lush ones. Its smaller price tag however reflects its size so I do not see its smaller size as an issue.

For comparison purposes I’d say that the Butterball bath bomb is close, if not the same in size to the Think Pink bath bomb.

I’ve said many times before and I am sure to say it many times again but never judge a bath bomb until you’ve given it a go in the bathroom.

Believe it or not, not everyone goes for the bath bombs that are bright, colourful and whizz-pop, whizz-bang. Some prefer the softer coloured ones and want to enjoy the bath bombs ingredients rather than just watch a colourful, bath time show.

Butterball is a very gentle bath bomb that has a soft and creamy scent. It contains small chunks of cocoa butter pieces in it that slowly melt as the bath bomb fizzes away.

I was advised to use the Butterball bath bomb in a ‘hot as I could stand it’ bath and wow does it make a difference when you do.

The cocoa butter in this bath bomb soothes tired, dry and irritated skin. My skin absolutely adores the carefully selected ingredients of Butterball. There isn’t very much in it, but that by no means dictates that it’s a bad or boring bath bomb.

My skin just soaks up all of the goodness of its ingredients and once I get out of the bath my skin stays silky smooth and I smell good enough to eat.

As I said earlier the Butterball bath bomb doesn’t put much of a show on in the bath tub and is better desired by those that are looking for something gentle and a little less in your face.

It’s a very good choice of bath bomb to use if you haven’t tried any before and it’s also one that works great as an ingredient for a Lush-bath-cocktail.

I recommend using it with one of Lush’s shower creams, Prince Charming and Yuzu and Cocoa in particular, although any shower gel or cream would work as the Butterball bath bomb is reasonably plain and therefore very versatile.

Pip Gift Set from Lush

I don’t normally buy the Lush gift sets, I however couldn’t resist picking up a few after I spotted them in Lush Oxford Street when I visited in October.

My favourite of what I could find was the Pip Gift Set. I just couldn’t resist this happy little penguin and his funky orange scarf!PIP Gift Set.png

Inside the Pip gift set is 1 Butterball bath bomb and 1 Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb.

Yes, buying the 2 bath bombs individually is slightly cheaper but I quite like the idea of presenting them in a knot wrap like this, it’s creative, different and sure to impress.

Not only does it look super cute but it also saves you some time and that’s something that everyone needs more of, especially at Christmas!

As well as saving you time, using a knot wrap instead of gift wrap helps the planet. I am marrying a site manager of a recycling center so I cannot escape this knowledge… I know there are different rules for different areas but where we live a very high percentage of the gift wrap used at Christmas just goes straight to landfill and that’s not good.

Using knot wraps as an alternative to wrapping paper is a great solution to help the planet. Knot wraps can be used time and time again. Tying them up may appear tricky but it is in fact very easy, there are hundreds of different ways of doing it, I learnt how to do them from watching Youtube tutorials.

If you aren’t any good at stuff like that and the Youtube tutorials still have you puzzled do not worry! – The Pip gift set comes ready wrapped and if you did want to try another for someone else the shop assistants at Lush are always more than happy to help you knot-wrap your product purchases!

As mentioned above the 2 bath bombs included in the Pip gift set are the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb and the Butterball bath bomb.

Overall I really like this gift set and I think it would make a very good present to someone who you want to turn into a Lushie or for a Lushie you already know of.

Mr Sandman Dusting Powder from Lush

mr-sandman-dusting-powder

Mr Sandman Dusting Powder is yet another brand new Twilight scented product that has been welcomed with open arms by the Lush community.

I am a little disappointed that it appears to have replaced my all time favourite festive dusting powder, First Snow. I am however always more than happy to try a new Lush product and even more so when it is Twilight scented!

If you have read any of my previous reviews on the other various Twilight scented products, you’d know that the Twilight bath bomb was the very first bath bomb that I tried from Lush. I of course became bath bomb bonkers on first use and just under four years later, here I still am raving about it.

When I first got into Lush I had no idea that their products even had scent families. I just thought that the Twilight bath bomb was lavender scented. I had no idea of the complexity of ingredients chosen to go into each and every single product that Lush have on offer.

Mr Sandman’s scent family happens to be one of the biggest sellers for Lush. This is reflected in the huge amount of Twilight scented products that they have created.

This year in particular, Lush have well and truly spoilt the Twilight fans with lots of new, never before released items. We have had the Twilight Shower Jelly in the Lush Kitchen and right now the Twilight and Luxury Lush Pud bath bombs are available to purchase as are the Sleepy body lotion and the Mr Sandman dusting powder. They have even re-released the much loved Twilight shower gel for the festive period in their flagship store in London, Oxford Street.

I’d say that the majority of newbie Lushies do not have any idea on the amount of products they actually do. When you say ‘Lush Cosmetics,’ the first thing that people say is ‘Oh the bath bomb shop?’ Once you’re hooked on the bath bombs that’s when you begin to explore what other products they have.

Mr Sandman is a dusting powder and is used in the same way as a talcum powder, it is applied all over the body after washing and/or moisturising or for a quick refresh in between.

Its purpose is to absorb your skin’s excess oils while also adding an extra layer of fragrance to your skin. After applying Mr Sandman my skin is not only fragranced with the Twilight scent but is also smooth to the touch. It makes your skin feel silky soft and works wonders in areas of your body that are prone to sometimes get excessively sweaty such as under your boobs. Although it’s not an antiperspirant it does help keep sweat away for a little longer than when you go without.

Some people may be put off by Mr Sandman as it does have a small amount of lustre in. Back when I first got in to Lush I was a lustre sceptic I however now know that it’s really nothing to worry about. It’s the same type of shimmer that you’d find in make up such as a highlighter or bronzer. It adds a slight gleam to your skin and I honestly don’t even notice if a product has it in or not anymore, either way it doesn’t bother me.

Pairing Mr Sandman up with Lush’s other new Twilight scented product Sleepy Body Lotion is a force to be reckoned with, this simple Lush cocktail aids restful sleep that makes Maleficent’s sleeping curse look weak.

The carefully selected ingredients that lull you into a relaxed state of mind, which in turn aids restful sleep are lavender, chamomile, tonka absolute and ylang ylang. Although I can’t give Mr Sandman or Sleepy all of the credit, every time I have used them both together, I have been able to drop off to sleep much quicker and easier, which is a huge deal for me considering that I had previously struggled to fall asleep full stop.

Over all I am very impressed with the Mr Sandman dusting powder, I was a little shocked at its high price however now I have used it I know it is worth every penny.
