Sleepy Shower Bomb from Lush

Sleepy Shower Bomb

I am so in love with Lush’s brand new invention, the Lush Moods shower bomb. They are the exact type of product that first got me into Lush. They make the practice of aromatherapy at home so quick and easy. Each of them showcase essential oils at their best.

Essential oils have so many positive benefits on your body and I’m excited to see Lush getting back to its roots by reintroducing us to long-loved essential oils, stripping them back in an attempt to enjoy the powers they hold, in ways people before us thousands of years ago used to use them too. Great examples of essential oils and some of their benefits are lavender oil to soothe and lime oil to uplift and refresh.

The new shower bombs redefine aromatherapy with their ingredients by engaging your senses, transforming your mood and altering your state of mind, all from just simply taking one of the 4 new shower bombs in to the shower with you.

The first one I tried was the Sleepy Shower Bomb. Shaped like a cloud with the word ‘Sleepy’ engraved onto its bottom (see below photo) it got my attention straight away.

I am no stranger to sleepless nights so I always gravitate towards the Lush products that are going to help me relax and wind down of a night time. The desired result is that I hopefully drift off into a deep and restful sleep, long before I’ve had a chance to check my clock, stressing over how many hours of sleep I have missed and how many I could get if I could fall asleep at that precise moment.

If this sounds familiar to you I’m sure you feel the same way as me and are open to trying anything that you think could help. I felt exactly like this, lost, stressed and tired when I first got into Lush a good few years ago. After researching essential oils I went into my very first Lush store and asked if they could point me towards anything with lavender oil in it. I left with a Twilight and Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb.

My first trip to a Lush store was obviously a success otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this now! Although Lush haven’t cured my insomnia I find that several of their products do make the process of falling asleep a lot easier. One of those products is the aforementioned Twilight bath bomb. I was therefore delighted to learn that the Sleepy shower bomb actually shares its scent with the Twilight bath bomb.

This technically makes the Sleepy shower bomb the Twilight bath bombs shower equivalent. Which is a huge deal for all Twilight bath bomb fans who don’t always have the time to take a bath.  Rich with essential oils such as soothing lavender and comforting tonka absolute, I knew that I’d like Sleepy just from reading its ingredients list.

To use a shower bomb all you do is take it into the shower with you and hold it under the water, it will instantly expand and foam up. Lush then advise that you take a deep breath, allow the essential oils to surround you and then begin to cleanse yourself with the foam, just as you would use a shower gel.

The Sleepy shower bomb begins to foam within seconds, as soon as you put it in the stream of water the hot steam begins to spread its relaxing scent. Although the shower bombs aren’t as smooth as shower gels they pretty much work the same way. With the shower bombs being half foam half almost foam (solid) they are surprisingly good exfoliants too.

For the Sleepy shower bomb in particular I recommend breaking it in half and using it over 2 showers. By all means enjoy all of it in one shower if that’s what you want, I just found that there was way more product than what I actually needed in just the one shower.

I always use new Lush products with an open mind and if I am going to be honest I wasn’t very excited when I first see ‘shower bomb’s’ in the Lush Lab. I have however been swept away by the Sleepy shower bomb and I am pleased to announce that all 4 shower bombs are now available in all stores too!

Fun for all the Family Bubble Spinner from Lush

Fun For All The Family Bubble Spinner.png

The Fun for all the Family Bubble Spinner is a limited edition bubble bar that was a part of Lush’s 2018 Father’s Day line. When Lush first released the bubble bar equivalent of a fidget spinner last year (the Bubble Spinner) I had no idea what a fidget spinner even was. Just in case you’re new to fidget and bubble spinners I’ll briefly explain the ins and outs below. A fidget spinner is a small toy that usually has two or three prongs arranged around a central bearing. They are designed to be spun by the fingers as a means of improving concentration and a reliever of stress.

The bubble bar equivalents of a fidget spinner, like Fun for all the Family do not however work in quite the same way as the toy fidget spinners – (the water from the tap is what essentially makes the bubble spinner, spin). Getting in on the fidget spinner craze has been a very clever move on Lush’s part and one that seems to have made a great impression on the bubble bath industry. Fun for all the Family is just one of the many bubble spinners Lush have created since the original bubble spinner was released back in August 2017. They just keep getting better and better.

What makes the Fun for all the Family bubble spinner unique to all of the others that have been released prior to it, is the fact that it has five prongs. This not only gives the bubble spinner a new star-like-shape but it also ensures that upon contact with the water running out of the tap, the bubble spinner will ALWAYS spin. Which is something that not all the others have been guaranteed to do (without a little help anyway.)

Jam packed with plentiful feel-good ingredients such as sweet orange and lime oils, the Fun for all the Family bubble spinner is the perfect pick-me-up product. Sharing its scent with the hugely popular limited edition bath bomb, Never Mind the Ballistics I couldn’t resist grabbing one to try. As soon as the Fun for all the Family bubble spinner is held under running tap water its cheerful scent fills your bathroom, it’s like fizzy sherbet sweets but so much better. Bubbles also start to appear very quickly while the bath water underneath them turns the most beautiful shade of blue.

What really impressed me about Fun for all the Family is how quickly it created copious amounts of fluffy, white bubbles, I didn’t need to hold it under the tap for very long at all. More than 60 seconds felt wasteful to me and I got at least 10 baths out of just one bubble spinner making it worth every single penny. Its scent lasts throughout your bath and my skin always felt well hydrated after getting out of the bath whenever I used it, this is very rare on my sensitive skin when it comes down to reusable bubble bars.

Another thing I noticed is how it has held its colour, every other Lush product that I have owned that is largely blue, are always the first to fade in colour. Examples of blue bubble bars that have lost their colour within a month or so are The Christmas Penguin and Bubbling Under. Fun for all the Family is however still very blue and I think my last one was purchased mid-June-time. Its scent although subtle, stays on your skin a good few hours after getting out of the bath too. For a reusable bubble bar Fun for all the Family really blew me away. Lush’s bubble spinners just keep getting better and better!

Candy Bubble Brush Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

What a time to be alive, especially if Lush’s notoriously sweet, Winter-popular ‘Snow Fairy‘ scent is one of your favourites. I honestly didn’t think there were any more products that Lush could give the Snow Fairy treatment to. However here we are with the Candy Bubble Brush Reusable Bubble Bar. – I must admit that I’m not a huge Snow Fairy fan BUT it’s a pink product so of course I had to give it a go.

The 3 bubble brushes that are currently available in pink, blue and yellow, are all reusable bubble bars BUT with a twist. You use them just as you would any other reusable bubble bar, once you have the desired amount of bubbles in your bath, you are then supposed to dip the bubble bar in the bath water just as you would a paint brush. Next you are meant to glide the bubble brush back and forth over the foamy bubbles to create colourful, bubbly-bath-art. (See below photo).

Although my version of ‘Candy bubble brush bath art’ in the above photo isn’t art gallery worthy, if you do a quick search on Instagram almost immediately you will find copious amounts of photos that have done the most fantastic job of showcasing how wonderful and unique the bubble brushes can be.

Underneath the blanket of Candy scented bubbles is brilliant pink bath water. I often find that Lush reusable bubble bars aren’t as vibrant as the single use ones, the Candy bubble brush is however perfectly vibrant. Below is a photo of the Candy bubble brush being dipped into a small jar of water, obviously this isn’t anywhere near as much water as you’d have in your bath but all it took to create this bright pink water was 60 seconds of the bubble brush sat in it, just as pictured.

Out of the 3 bubble brushes currently available, Candy has been the one I have used the most purely because of its colour. Not only does the Candy bubble brush leave your bath water bright pink but also silky smooth too. Bathing in it for just 10 minutes leaves my skin feeling soft and well nourished. I am surprised that the scent lasts throughout the whole of the bath. Its scent could also be detected on my skin hours after getting out of the bath too, this is something that rarely happens with a reusable bubble bar.

The only thing that irritates me about the bubble brushes is that they are so hard to store without making a huge mess. I leave them to dry on a plastic mat before storing them and that seems to be the easiest and cleanest way that I have found to handle them in between uses (so far anyway.)

Much like the Snow Fairy body conditioner and Snow Fairy jelly bomb the Candy bubble brushes scent is sugar-sweet, anything Snow Fairy scented is always hugely popular with younger customers, however I am almost 30 and although it isn’t my favourite scent family, I do enjoy using the odd Snow Fairy fragranced product every now and again. After all, it wouldn’t be Winter without a bit of Snow Fairy something.

I don’t think that the bubble brushes target audience is specifically just children either, they have proven extremely popular with ALL ages, who doesn’t want to take 10 or 20 minutes out of their day to do something fun and relaxing? I love the bubble brushes because they get my creative juices flowing and also help me clock up those ‘me time’ minutes –  and we can all relate to needing more me time! If you’re looking for something a little different and quirky then the new bubble brushes are a must have, I look forward to reviewing the other 2 for you in the near future. Watch this space!
