American Cream Shower Gel from Lush

American Cream Shower Gel

The American Cream Shower Gel first became available as a limited edition, Lush Kitchen exclusive last year (2018).

I’m not a huge fan of the American Cream scent, I have tried the hair conditioner equivalent but it isn’t suited to my hair as it’s quite a heavy product. Apart from the conditioner I hadn’t really ever used anything else from its scent family until I got this shower gel.

Being honest as always, the  American Cream scent has always reminded me of one of those car-air-fresheners making it a fragrance that hasn’t ever really appealed to me. I decided to however give the American Cream shower gel a go as it’s ridiculously popular within the Lush community.

While I still believe that the American Cream scent is one of Lush’s most overrated scent families it isn’t unpleasant. As I said earlier, the American Cream scent is hugely popular within the Lush community and the shower gel went down a storm when it was first released by the Lush Kitchen in 2018. It was so well received by the community that Lush decided to bring it back as a part of their 2019 Valentine’s Day line.

The American Cream shower gel is a dusty shade of pink and as shower gels go is actually the perfect consistency, not to thick and not too thin. Containing vanilla, lavender and fresh strawberry juice American Cream has a gentle, fruity-fresh fragrance, many describe it as smelling just like fresh strawberries and cream. I can see what they mean but to me it’s still smells a little too artificial for my liking.

As I said above, I actually really like the consistency of the American Cream shower gel, it takes a little longer than I’m used to, to work up a good lather but once it gets going it’s an excellent shower gel. A little goes quite a long way and it leaves my skin clean, smooth and hydrated too.

At the time of writing this review the American Cream scent still isn’t a favourite of mine BUT it’s a light enough fragrance for me to use every now and again. That’s not to say that one day I could have a complete change of heart; Before now many Lush scents have grown on me overtime. The, The Comforter shower creams scent being one of them!

Although I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to get another bottle of the American Cream shower gel I can appreciate why it is so popular.

Now that the Mother’s Day and Easter 2019 ranges have been released I wanted to mention how disappointed I am to not see any other shower gels in either line. Not great if you’re on the fence about American Cream shower gel like me, I’d have loved a couple more shower gels to choose from.

Eve’s Cherry Lip Scrub from Lush

Eve's Cherry Lip Scrub.png

2019’s Valentine’s Day range has landed at Lush and what an amazing line up of products it has! It’s by far the best Valentine’s Day line to date. I hope that this is a sign of things to come through out this year and that Lush have started 2019 as they mean to go on.

Eve’s Cherry Lip Scrub is the first of this years brand new products that I am going to review. The main ingredient in Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a basic and natural formula can do such a good job. I use lip scrubs every other day so I am always very happy when Lush releases brand new ones for me to try.

Lush’s lip scrubs are ridiculously underrated. Using them requires the minimum of effort and they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel their best. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips while also softening and hydrating them too. Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits, it improves the texture of your lips and lifts any build up of dead skin that may still be hanging around. I never put a lipstick on unless I have used a Lush lip scrub first.

Ingredients wise the Eve’s Cherry lip scrub just like the Cranberry Fizz lip scrub, has a little more to offer. Before Eve’s Cherry and Cranberry Fizz most Lush lip scrubs had very few ingredients in, for example the Bubblegum lip scrub only has caster sugar and jojoba oil in.

Along side the caster sugar, Eve’s Cherry also contains the following oils; jojoba, cherry kernel, buchu and lime to name just a few. I can’t get over the scent of Eve’s Cherry lip scrub, it’s beautiful. As soon as I take its lid off I am greeted with a mouthwatering fragrance of sweet cherries. It takes me right back to being at school eating Cherry Drop sweets all day long.

I thought all Lush lip scrubs were great at balancing both the tasks of exfoliation and hydration of the lips BUT alongside Cranberry Fizz, Eve’s Cherry is absolutely incredible at it. I think Eve’s Cherry is now my favourite Lush lip scrub to date. Sorry Cranberry Fizz. I know I said that about you only last month but Eve’s Cherry has stolen your short-lived-title of my favourite lip scrub of all time.

As well as smelling incredible Eve’s Cherry also tastes delicious too. I just can’t get enough of it. Lush lip scrubs are obviously not meant to be eaten but if a bit of it does end up in your mouth in the process of scrubbing your lips with it, don’t worry, you’re not going to die.

There’s not much more I can say about a lip scrub (even one as good as Eve’s Cherry.) As lip scrubs go, Eve’s Cherry does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it very well too!

Cranberry Fizz Lip Scrub from Lush

Cranberry Fizz Lip Scrub (1)The Cranberry Fizz Lip Scrub was brand new to Lush at the back end of 2018. It was a part of their Winter 2018 line and what an impression it has made on me. The main ingredient in Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a basic and natural formula can do such a good job. I use lip scrubs almost every day so new flavours always get me very excited. A change is as good as a holiday, after all!

Lush’s lip scrubs are ridiculously underrated. Using them requires the minimum of effort and they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel their best. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips while also softening and hydrating them too.

Ingredients wise the Cranberry Fizz lip scrub has a little more in it than the others I have used from Lush before. For example the Bubblegum lip scrub only has caster sugar and jojoba oil in.

Along side the caster sugar, Cranberry Fizz also contains the following oils; Peach kernel, cranberry seed, Brazilian orange and lime. This is what gives Cranberry Fizz its super hydrating edge; I thought all of the other Lush lip scrubs were great at balancing both exfoliation and hydration but Cranberry Fizz is absolutely incredible at it.

Cranberry Fizz also smells and tastes incredible. Super sour and fruity, I just can’t get enough. It’s obviously not meant to be eaten but if a bit does end up in your mouth in the process of scrubbing your lips with it, don’t worry, you’re not going to die. – I’m not quite sure how Lush have done it but the Cranberry Fizz lip scrub really does smell fizzy.

Taking its lid off and having a sniff feels just like the very first swig of a fizzy glass of lemonade, it even tickles your nose!

There’s not much more I can really mention for this scrub, it does its job perfectly and has become my favourite of the Lush lip scrubs so far. Lush have released another new one for Valentine’s 2019 and I can’t wait to try it, especially if it’s as good as Cranberry Fizz!
