Open Your Heart Bubble Bra from Lush

Open Your Heart Bubble BraBack in 2017 Lush released the Golden Pear soap as a part of their Winter line. Ever since the Golden Pear soaps release the Lush community have gone wild for its scent, due to its popularity  Lush have gone on to create several more products that share its scent.

Lush’s 2019 Valentine’s Day line features the Golden Pear scented Open Your Heart Bubble Bra. No, that isn’t a typo… it really is called the Open Your Heart bubble bra!

Inspired by Madonna’s pointed 80’s bra this bubble ‘bar’ screams to be bought, if you’re looking for a bubble bar with a unique selling point then a bubble ‘bra’ comes top of the list for sure…

Just like the Love Token reusable bubble bar which is also a part of 2019’s Valentine’s Day line, Open Your Heart is covered in gold shimmer, underneath its sparkly coating is yellowy-orange bubble bar. Designed in the same way as the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon, 2 edges are sandwiched together. These edges obviously being the cups of Madonna’s iconic and very peculiar shaped bra.

Lush instruct you to use one half or both pieces of bubble bar to ensure you have a ‘Valentine’s bath you won’t forget in a hurry’. I personally used the whole thing together. Usually I’d try and spread a bubble bar over at least 2 baths but with Open Your Heart being quite small I found it was best for me to use it all at once.

I found that using just one half of it didn’t leave me with very many bubbles at all. It does however depend on your baths water pressure though, by all means if you get enough bubbles with half then only use half, it’s all down to personal preference really.

The Open Your Heart bubble bar has a somewhat sour-pear fragrance, it’s not quite as strong as its soap equivalent but is close enough for me to consider both products as in the same scent family. It’s a scent that reminds me of cooked pears, slowly baked in a pie smothered in sugar; Delicious!

Although it’s not a scent I go mad for personally, I can see why so many people do like it so very much.

Placed under the tap, the Open Up Your Heart bubble bar fills your bath up with a shimmery golden-yellow water. Although it did create a lot of bubbles, they didn’t stay around for very long, completely disappearing long before I’d finished my bath. This is however a common occurrence with Lush’s bubbleroon bubble bars because of their buttery centre.

What bubbleroons such as Open Your Heart lack in bubble-longevity they well make up for with how silky-soft they turn your bath water. My skin felt amazing once I had left the bath, not only was my skin lightly fragranced with the scent of Open Your Heart but it also felt refreshed, silky smooth and perfectly hydrated too.

Overall I did enjoy using the Open Your Heart bubble bar, it’s not my favourite of the 2019 Valentine’s line and I feel it would have been better in a different colour, (we already had a gold sparkly bubble bar in this years collection with Love Token) but I did enjoy its ingredients and how relaxed it left me.

Aubergine Bath Bomb from Lush

img_360

Lush’s 2019 Valentine’s line is the cheekiest to date and with it being so fruit orientated, it’s not very difficult to attain your required 5 a day! 😉

Alongside the Peachy bath bomb is its unofficial side kick, the Aubergine Bath Bomb, aka the Eggplant Bath Bomb – Both Eggplant or Aubergine are the exact same product, the big purple fruit just goes by a different name depending on where you are in the world.

This tongue in cheek product has caused quite a stir within the Lush community, not only for its phallic shape but because it’s actually a very good bath bomb. The attention to detail and its design makes it very hard to believe that it’s hand made.

Just like the aforementioned Peachy bath bomb I was pleasantly surprised at how big the Aubergine bath bomb was, just a little bit bigger than my hand Aubergine is very good value for money, I couldn’t wait to see how it performed in the bath.

The Aubergine bath bombs scent smells just like a Lush shop, the scent is actually called 29 High Street and was purposely designed to emulate exactly how a Lush-shop-floor smells.

I have yet to review any of the other 29 High Street scented products but the Aubergine bath bomb is definitely my favourite product format of the scent so far.

The Aubergine bath bomb contains as its name would suggest, fresh aubergine – if it didn’t I know I’d have been disappointed so good move Lush! the aubergine has an abundance of skin loving vitamins and minerals, my skin lapped it up. I’d actually like to see it in more products.

Fresh aubergine isn’t the only ingredient in the Aubergine bath bomb either, bergamot, ho wood and tonka absolute also add different aspects to its beautiful, uplifting and fruity fragrance.

As soon as the Aubergine bath bomb touches the water it shoots out a burst of purple and then blue and green foam from both ends… Its colouring and the way it creates bath art reminds me of the very first version of the Northern Lights bath bomb.

The bath art was amazing, hence this review having so many photographs. I even managed to catch some footage of the slow popping bubbles.

What really impressed me with the Aubergine bath bomb was the colour of the water it left once fully dissolved. It’s unlike any bath water I have had before, sure the Blackberry and Jingle Spells bath bomb create beautiful purple bath waters BUT neither are on par with the Aubergine bath bomb.

Not only is the bath water the most inviting shade of sparkly, Cadbury-purple but the water is super soft too. I could sit in an Aubergine bath for hours. Very rarely do I like every bath bomb in a Lush line but this year I adore every bath bomb in the Valentine’s Day line. Lush, I hope this is a sign that 2019 will be your best year for products yet!

Love Token Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

love token reusable bubble bar

The first thing I noticed and admired about the Love Token Reusable Bubble Bar was that it’s not an in your face Valentine’s Day product. Even though I am happily married I’m not a huge fan of the day. My birthday falls on the week before Valentine’s so my husband and I don’t really celebrate it.

The only reason I even mention the ‘V’ word is because of Lush. It’s always so exciting to be introduced to a fresh line of products just after the new year, it’s when we’re all feeling the post Christmas blues and need some cheering up.

Love Token is a reusable bubble bar designed in the shape of a giant, shimmering-gold coin with the phrase, ‘Thank You’ engraved on its front. It’s the perfect gift for anyone you’d like to say thank you to, be that for your valentine (thank you for being my husband Joe) or maybe even giving it just as a ‘token’ of your appreciation to a great friend. It is the season of love, why not let everyone know they are loved and appreciated, whether you’re in a romantic relationship or not?

The Love Token shares its scent with the Gingerbread Man sparkle jar, if you’ve read any of my other reviews you’ll know I always favour the spicier products as I suffer with chronic pain. Love Token contains ginger and clove bud oil, both of those ingredients are great at relaxing and soothing aching joints and tense muscles.

In use, the spiciness of the Love Token creates a warming action on your skin, this warming action helps stimulate your blood circulation and it really does take the edge off of my pain while I’m laying in its waters, especially on my lower back, hips and shoulders.

Love Token is therefore such a luxury for me. I wish Lush did more products like this, I was very sad that the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar didn’t return for the Christmas just gone, that was hands down my favourite of the spicy bubble bars.

Decorated with golden lustre, the Love Token has a sparkly layer similar to the Star Light Star Bright bath melt. Obviously something this shimmery isn’t for everyone but in my personal opinion (and this is after being exposed to Lush’s lustre more times than I care to remember) is that you don’t have to be scared of it.

I used to be terrified of the glittery products that graced Lush’s shelves but after giving just one of them a go (accidentally might I add) I found out that they’re actually very enjoyable products. I’d envisioned death by glitter just like everyone else does when they first see sparkly Lush BUT after using the shimmery products such as Love Token, I’m still here and now believe the more glitter, the better!

A LOT of people who don’t bother to look up the ingredients of a sparkly Lush product go into a huge rant about how ‘Lush don’t really care about the planet’, otherwise they ‘wouldn’t be using micro plastics and plastic glitters in their products;’ LUSH DO NOT USE MICRO PLASTICS OR PLASTIC GLITTER. The golden lustre is in fact made with mica, seaweed and starch!

With Lush’s reusable bubble bars I find that the majority of them just aren’t as colourful or vibrant in use as the ordinary bubble bars are. This goes for the amount of bubbles you get out of a reusable bubble bar too. Lush have however upped their game when it comes to reusable bubble bars most recently, I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles being a perfect example of reusable bubble bars that are just as vibrant and bubble inducing as their ordinary counterparts.

Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with the amount of bubbles Love Token created. As soon as you put Love Token under the running tap the golden lustre spills off of it,  spreading across your bath water sparkling like a clear nights sky. Underneath the layer of lustre is a beautifully bright yellow bubble bar. I got 2 baths out of the one Love Token. I would have liked to have seen more bubbles but I really did enjoy using it none the less.

It left my skin soft and hydrated and worked a treat on my aching muscles. I think it’s great that Lush have released another spicy product this time of year, normally they only release products like this at Christmas but Winter is still with us come January the 1st and I’m glad Lush have addressed that. It’s made my least favourite season of the year that little bit more bearable.
