Rumba Shower Jelly from Lush

Rumba Shower Jelly

At the time of writing this review, the Rumba Shower Jelly is a Lush product that is exclusively available only at Lush’s brand new, flagship-super-store in Liverpool, England. Sharing its scent with my all time favourite Lush product the So White bath bomb(the 2016 version with coloured insides being my favourite version) I almost screamed the shop down with excitement after just one sniff.

Yes, we do already get a So White scented shower jelly that never fails to be released year in year out for Lush’s Winter collection the Santa’s Belly shower jelly but Rumba seems to be a much sturdier jelly, plus I love its bright and bold colour.

Rumba is a beautiful shade of green, on its scent, colour and almost indestructible structure (in jelly terms) alone I was left very impressed before I’d even given it a proper go in the shower.

Rumba Shower Jelly2

Rumba contains apple juice, bergamot, neroli and orange oil. Scent wise Rumba smells just like freshly, sliced apple pieces. It’s a real fairytale fragrance, something that inspired the name of the body lotion that shares Rumbas scent the Once Upon A Time body lotion.

There are so many ways to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. This method is definitely best if you were planning on sharing the jelly (something I never do! 😉)

Most shower jellies I find are fairly robust. There are others such as the Ghost shower jelly that do not last well through use when left as a whole. Rumba is however one of the most robust shower jellies I have used to date. Something I have found is a running trait amongst the jellies that are exclusive to the Liverpool Lush store.

Rumba Shower Jelly3

Rumba lathers up quickly and easily, as you work it over your body the steam of the hot water really helps carry its crisp-apple-fragrance around your bathroom. People have asked me if Rumba is as good as the So White shower gel and I have to say it is actually better. As much as I love the So White shower gel and the Santa’s Belly shower jelly, after using Rumba it’s made me realise I prefer the thicker shower gels and/or the sturdier shower jellies.

I have used Rumba several times now and it’s not showing any signs of wear and tear at all, this is something that has really impressed me, with it being such an exclusive product it makes me feel a lot better about using it so frequently, I don’t have to ration it!

After getting out of the shower, the Rumba shower jellies scent lasts for a good few hours on your skin, it isn’t hugely moisturising but a quick splash of Once Upon A Time body lotion (as mentioned earlier it shares the So White scent) sorts out any dryness left without masking its scent with another Lush scent family.

Cookie Dough Lip Scrub from Lush

cookie dough lip scrub

At the time of writing this review the Cookie Dough Lip Scrub is exclusively only available from the flagship Lush store in Liverpool, UK. There are rumours that it may however be a part of April’s Lush Labs release. I have my fingers crossed that it will be available as I know plenty of people that would like to get their hands on a pot or 2.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a basic and natural formula can do such a good job. I use lip scrubs every other day so I am always very happy when Lush release brand new ones for me to try; With Cookie Dough being super-duper-exclusive too, it left me wanting to try it even more!

I have said it before and I will say it again, Lush’s lip scrubs are so underrated. Using them requires the minimum of effort AND they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel their best. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips.

Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits, it improves the texture and lifts any build up of dead skin that may still be hanging around. Once you have tried a Lush lip scrub, you won’t be able to wear lipstick without using a Lush lip scrub beforehand ever again.

Cookie Dough was one of the first products that I picked up on the opening day of the new flagship super store in Liverpool. Piled high on a wooden-display-barrel they were just sat there screaming to be purchased, ‘BUY ME, BUY ME, BUY ME!’ so I did just that.

Ingredients wise Cookie Dough lip scrub contains bundles of caster sugar, jojoba, shea butter, sea salt and vanilla absolute. I’m not a huge fan of super sweet scents/flavours, Cookie Dough is however very pleasant and makes the likes of the Bubblegum lip scrub smell seem sickly-sweet.

Consistency wise the Cookie Dough lip scrub isn’t as chunky as previously released lip scrubs. It actually has a really soft, almost sand like texture. At first I thought this would mean the lip scrub wouldn’t be as exfoliating as other lip scrubs such as Eve’s Cherry and Cranberry Fizz. I however found that Cookie Doughs less-coarse formula actually worked just as well, if not better for lip exfoliation.

I would recommend Cookie Dough to anyone who thought the older lip scrubs were a little harsh for them. Where the consistency isn’t as thick in Cookie Dough a little amount of the lip scrub goes a very long way, I would however recommend using a lip balm after using it just because it can be a little drying without (which is the complete opposite of what you want out of a lip scrub.) a quick coat of lip balm after using Cookie Dough will help keep your lips moisturised, soft and smooth.

Overall I am very impressed with the Cookie Dough lip scrub, it isn’t my favourite lip scrub, I don’t think anything will ever over take my favourites place (the Eve’s Cherry lip scrub) but it does an amazing job and makes for a nice change from using the others! 😊

Mamma Mia Shower Scrub from Lush

Mamma Mia Shower Scrub.png

The Mamma Mia Shower Scrub is the latest of the shower scrubs to be released. Up until last year, Lush for as long as I can remember only had the one potted shower scrub on offer; The Rub Rub Rub. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Rub Rub Rub but when it was the only potted shower scrub available I did begin to grow a little bored of it.

Just as I’d noticed the lack of variety when it came down to the potted shower scrubs Lush must have read my mind. The Magic Crystal shower scrub was randomly released closely followed by another called Scrub Scrub Scrub.

The Mamma Mia shower scrub is a part of the 2019 Mother’s day line and shares its scent with one of the most underrated (in my personal opinion) bath bombs created by Lush, Stardust. Its mixture is also bright pink which happens to be my favourite colour. Including ingredients such as pink grapefruit, vanilla, rosewood and bergamot, Mamma Mia smells just like creamy vanilla ice cream.

To use Mamma Mia shower scrub all you have to do is scoop out a small amount from the pot and work it into your skin just like you would a shower gel. A little amount does go a long way but please feel free to over indulge while using it, I won’t tell anyone if you don’t! 😉

With any exfoliator I recommend that you pay particular attention to any dry patches you may have such as your knees and elbows.

Other ingredients that are also in the Mamma Mia shower scrub are Himalayan salt and rose clay, these 2 ingredients are Mamma Mia’s secret weapon when it comes down to perfect skin exfoliation and hydration all in one product.

It’s rare to find a product that aids both skin hydration and exfoliation so well, Lush have mastered the art and formula in all of their potted shower scrubs for both of these aspects. All in all, I have however found Mamma Mia to be the most moisturising out of all of the shower scrubs I have mentioned in this review.

I will be taking a pot of this with me on my next holiday as well as sun lotion, I do not have a holiday booked right now but if I ever do get the chance to get away, a sun, sea, sand and reading my book by the pool holiday is my idea of heaven. The Himalayan salt in Mamma Mia will help get rid of any dead skin making way for a nice sun tan and the rose clay will help soothe your skin after a day in the sun too. It’s a perfect sunny holiday product. 👌

I’m really sad to know that the Mamma Mia shower scrub will be gone with the rest of the Mother’s day stock soon. Its scent is light and unique, I liked Mamma Mia so much upon first use that I immediately ordered another pot of it as soon as I stepped out of the shower. Not just a small pot either, I am now the proud owner of a 600g pot and my husband isn’t allowed to touch it!
