Mumkin Bubble Bar from Lush

mumkin bubble bar

The Mumkin Bubble Bar is hands down one of the cutest Lush products to date. It was last available in the Lush Kitchen back in March and before that December 2015. The Mumkin bubble bar pictured above is the one I ordered back in December last year. I am obviously very behind on my product reviews as it is now May 2016, Sorry! My excuse is that you can’t rush perfection. *wink, wink!*

To be completely honest with you all, I am literally so overwhelmed by all of the amazing Lush products that have been available over the last 18 or so months, I just simply can’t keep up.

The first question that springs to mind when people first come across a Mumkin bubble bar is ‘What’s it supposed to be?’ I talk a lot in my sleep and last night I apparently told my fiancé that a ‘Mumkin is like a pumpkin but nice.’ .Hearing that, I couldn’t help but want to do my Mumkin bubble bar review today. It was obviously meant to be.

A Mumkin isn’t anything like what I described while asleep. Lush in fact describe it as an unknown, friendly, cute and curious creature. With its big brown, dairy-free chocolate chip eyes how can you resist? Decorated with a yellow star on its deep pink head, a green leaf and a marshmallow-like stalk, the Mumkin bubble bar is more than unique.

In a way I get a little sad when Lush make their products into little creatures, it’s easy to break up and work your way through a bubble bar such as the Brightside one. When the bubble bar has eyes however, my inner child wakes up and doesn’t want to mash him up at all, ‘Mum, can we keep him?’

My inner child soon disappeared when I first smelt the Mumkin bubble bar, I didn’t care that it had eyes I just had to get it into the bath!

MUMKIN REAL

The Mumkin bubble bar has a floral bergamot and gentle raspberry scent. I can’t actually think of another Lush product that even has a similar scent. On paper the Mumkin bubble bar sounds as if it would be very similar to the Rose Jam scent, it is however nothing like Rose Jam. Mumkin has a soft zest that mixes perfectly with its ingredients. Bergamot, Sicilian lemon and violet leaf oils blend so beautifully together, I can only hope that Lush use the Mumkin’s scent in future alternative products such as a Mumkin shower gel, solid shampoo bar or even a bath bomb.

The Mumkin bubble bar creates copious amounts of silky-smooth bubbles, its unique aroma gently, intensifies as the bubbles multiply. Buried underneath the canopy of the fluffy white bubbles you will find warming-orange-tinted water. I always use a sieve for my bubble bars as unfortunately I don’t have a mixed tap. I have the choice of a scolding hot tap or a freezing cold one.

In the sieve I like to run it under the hot tap as I feel that makes the most bubbles. I however find that not all bubble bars work in the same way. Some work best in a sieve if crumbled up (as above) where as others work better in a sieve in chunks. In regards to the Mumkin bubble bar, after much trial and error I’d probably advise you to sieve it in chunks. I found that crumbling it up weakened its beautiful scent somewhat.

As for the Mumkin’s bubble bars ability to freshen up my tired and often dehydrated skin, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Not only is my skin soft and hydrated, it also feels refreshed and ready to face the rest of the day.

I really hope that Lush Cosmetics use the Mumkin’s scent in alternative future products, ever since I first tried the Mumkin bubble bar I haven’t been able to stop eating raspberries. I fear that if I don’t stop eating them soon I will turn into a Mumkin!

Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream from Lush

When I first got into Lush I was so focused on the bath bombs and bubble bars that the other products didn’t really have much of a chance to impress me. Bath bombs, bubble bars and shower jellies are unique to Lush, there’s not many other cosmetic companies that specialise in them and it’s those 3 specific, quirky products that initially got me into their store in the first place.

After I had pretty much exhausted every choice of bubble bar and bath bomb currently available at Lush I decided to try some more of their products. – Enter the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream.

I knew of the Yuzu and Cocoa scent from the yellow bubbleroon that goes by the same name, I thought it had a beautiful scent but I always favoured the bigger bubble bars as I felt they were better value for money. When the flagship Lush store in Oxford Street opened their doors for the very first time one of its exclusive products was the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream.

As liquid shower products go, the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is slightly thicker in consistency to others I have tried before, a little however goes a very long way. The tiniest of drops can clean my whole body as well as keeping my skin soft and well hydrated – there is no need to moisturise after using this.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is amazing, it’s like swimming in a sea of Jaffa Cakes. It really is my idea of heaven. My mum was pushing me around Sainsbury’s once and I had used the shower cream earlier that day, I noticed that I could really smell the box of jaffa cakes on the shelf, it wasn’t until a little while later when we were in the freezer section that I thought to myself wow I can still smell the jaffa cakes, I then realised it was in fact me that smelt like jaffa cakes! The Yuzu and Cocoa scent stays with you ALL DAY, I haven’t come across another Lush scent that lasts so long, it truly is beautiful.

Packed with tonka, grapefruit and bergamot oils Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is the perfect pick me up product, I always find using it lifts my mood. Since discovering Lush I have completely changed my mind set on grapefruit. Growing up I hated it but for some reason, every product that Lush creates with grapefruit in really, really impresses my nose. So there you go, Lush have persuaded me to break a habit of a lifetime, I now, thanks to this shower cream and the Frozen Bath Bomb, have a level of appreciation for grapefruit that I have never had before.

Lush Kitchen really need to make a whole load more Yuzu and Cocoa scented products as the bubbleroon and shower cream just isn’t enough for me any more, I NEED MORE! Imagine a Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly or body lotion, wow.

You have got to try the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream at least once, it is now also available in all Lush stores not just Oxford Street!  there really isn’t an excuse to not try it now, do it! you will not regret it.

Intergalactic Bath Bomb from Lush

Intergalactic Bath Bomb
The Intergalactic Bath Bomb was first released as an Oxford Street exclusive back in 2015. A little over a year later it was made a permanent in store product. Originally only available in one shop in the world, Lush fans far and wide were naturally super excited to see it added to the everyday line. This was a very wise decision made by Lush as now the Intergalactic bath bomb is Lush’s best selling bath bomb EVER.

The Intergalactic bath bomb is a deep, dark blue with hot pink, yellow-gold and white patches. I would love to have a go of making my own one day. The colours used in this bath bomb clash so well, it’s a truly beautiful design, it’s almost too pretty to use.

Before I had tried the Intergalactic bath bomb my go to bath bombs when I needed a refreshing smack in the face was Avobath or Dragon’s Egg. Containing peppermint, grapefruit, vetivert and cedar wood oil the Intergalactic bath bombs scent more than stands out.

It’s primarily a peppermint scent, the grapefruit in it however adds a fruity and citrus sharpness to it, it’s a very hard scent to describe and really is one you have to experience to appreciate.

At first I was really unsure on the Intergalactic bath bombs scent, my friend Bella had kindly sent it in the post to me all the way froom Lush Oxford Street, alongside the Intergalactic I also got a Frozen and a The Experimenter bath bomb in that same parcel.

All 3 of these scents are some of Lush’s most powerful and I think I just got a little overwhelmed. Once I had the Intergalactic on its own that’s when I fell in love with everything about it.

The Intergalactic bath bomb soon became one of my favourite products from Lush, with it being so rich with peppermint oil I often use it to help with a symptom of my long term illness, nausea. A quick dip in an Intergalactic bath really does help me manage it better.

When the Intergalactic bath bomb first hits the bath water, it instantly fizzes up with a  blue foamy hiss.  As it fizzes away yellow, white and pink streaks begin to spiral out of it. Once the outer foamy layer disappears it begins to dance around the waters surface.

Once in the water it doesn’t take very long for the Intergalactic bath bomb to introduce you to its secret ingredient, popping candy! The popping candy is hidden inside of the Intergalactic bath bomb, slow but loud pops last right up until the bath bomb is fully dissolved.

Even though I have been using the Intergalactic bath bombs since 2015 I often forget about the popping candy, it always seems to take me by surprise which in turn makes me smile. 😊

What appears on first glance to be a very dark and mainly blue bath bomb actually creates some seriously colourful and super impressive bath art.

It turns your bath water a beautiful and deep shade of blue, it’s is so shimmery that it reminds me of the night sky. Inspired by the Milky Way, I like nothing more than to sit back and relax in its waters, becoming the guardian of your very own, do it yourself, miniature galaxy.

An Intergalactic bath could really only be described as the bath equivalent of a deep space adventure, however on this occasion no astronaut suit is required. Your birthday suit will be more than adequate attire for this space age, bathing experience!
