Magik CBD Bath Bomb from Lush

Lush have recently added four new ‘Magik’ products to their CBD range, today I will be reviewing the brand new Magik Bath Bomb, also known as the Magik CBD Epsom Salt Cube.

As someone who often struggles to switch off and relax, anything that can help me get to that state of mind quicker is worth a try.

I was lucky enough to be gifted all four of the new CBD products from Lush, I am so incredibly grateful for Lush’s generosity yet again; Every time I get a package from them it’s like all my Christmases have come at once!

Before we delve deeper into my review of the Magik bath bomb I want to talk about the CBD element of all the new products…

CBD is short for cannabidiol; Cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive and non-addictive compound found in hemp plants, in simple terms it means using this Lush product won’t get you high.

There has been a lot of research conducted around the use of CBD oil and it is said to have a long list of health-benefits.

It is said to help with stress management as well as aiding those suffering with anxiety and/or sleep problems, it has also been proven to help people like me, who suffer from medical conditions that cause wide-spread chronic pain.

The very reason I first got into Lush was because I was looking for non-medicinal alternatives to prescription painkillers, so it is only natural for me to jump at the chance to try each of the new CBD products.

The Magik bath bomb is pink and green and made into a cube shape, it’s the same design as the Salt Water Soother and Deep Sleep bath bombs.

All of my reviews on this blog are my own personal experience with Lush products. I’ve had a few messages from people who haven’t tried the Magik products yet but have some experience with CBD say things like, ‘this won’t work for…’

I’m always open to listen to other people’s thoughts and opinions but I feel my job in a review like this is to tell you how I found the product AFTER I have used it and not before, so here we go!

As well as the CBD hemp seed oil, the Magik bath bomb also contains Epsom salts, chamomile blue oil, jasmine absolute, violet leaf absolute, ylang ylang absolute and shiitake mushroom powder.

Its shares its scent with the Ultra Violet bubble barWild Violet Co-Mingle body scrub and the other three products from the same new ‘Magik’ line.

As soon as you place the Magik bath bomb into your bath water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of light pink and green bubbles. The hot bath water ensures that as soon as the Magik bath bomb encounters it, you’re hit with the gentle but sweet smell of violets, it’s an incredibly fresh and natural fragrance.

There are herbal and grassy elements to its scent too. I find this bath bombs blend of ingredients as incredibly grounding and surprisingly warming in a Summertime way; A weird description I know but it’s what I smell and how I feel using it.

It only takes the Magik bath bomb two minutes to fully dissolve leaving you with more time to sit back and relax in the hot water that hasn’t had too much time to cool down yet… BLISS!

Magik is not much of a bath art bath bomb but the small amount of green and pink bubbles it does create are very pretty.

As soon as the bath bomb is put in, the Epsom salts fall to the bottom of the bath before also dissolving. Any Lush product that has Epsom salts in ALWAYS creates the most incredibly soft water and the Magik bath bomb did not disappoint in this department.

After use, my skin is perfectly hydrated and feels clean and silky-soft too. For me in particular, I have always found this products Lush-scent-family quite calming so it wouldn’t be fair to assume that my feeling more relaxed was all down to the CBD content in it. BUT I did leave the bath feeling very relaxed and refreshed, CBD or not. Overall, I love the Magik bath bomb!

Botanomancy CBD Bubble Bar from Lush

The Botanomancy CBD Bubble Bar is a brand-new product and is the first of its kind from Lush. It was released alongside the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb back on Christmas Eve, 2020. CBD is short for cannabidiol, cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants.

There has been a lot of research conducted around the use of CBD oil and it is said to have a long list of health-benefits. In particular it helps with stress management and those suffering with anxiety and/or sleep problems.

CBD has also been proven to help people like me, who suffer from medical conditions that cause wide-spread chronic pain. The very reason I first got into Lush Cosmetics was because I was looking for natural alternatives to prescription painkiller medications. With this in mind I didn’t hesitate to buy Botanomancy when it became available.

The Botanomancy CBD bubble bar is the same size as the bestselling bubble bars, Brightside and The Comforter which has certainly pleased the masses. After all everyone likes more for their money! As well as the cannabidiol, Botanomancy also contains patchouli, sandalwood, ginger and dried peppermint leaf and rose petals. Its scent is really herbilicious, earthy and refreshing.

The first time I  used the Botanomancy CBD bubble bar I decided to stick half of the bar into my bubble bar sieve, this was way too much and a complete waste. The smallest amount creates more than enough bubbles, you can easily get 6 baths out of one bar, more if your water pressure is strong.

A blanket of fluffy white bubbles doesn’t take very long to form at all. Underneath the bubbles, the water is an earthy green scattered with the dried rose petals.

There is no better feeling than sinking yourself into a nice hot bath after a long day. If I am being honest, like the aforementioned 4:20pm CBD bath bomb, I wouldn’t say I was anymore relaxed than I’d normally be after just an ordinary Lush bath BUT I was relaxed enough to get straight into bed and a good nights sleep followed.

There are some aspects I’d like to tweak to this bubble bar, I personally would prefer it without the dried petals but I’ve seen plenty of people on Instagram who really liked their inclusion.

Other than that I really liked this bubble bar and I hope that Lush decide to bring out a few more CBD products as it’s something I’d love to try more of.

4:20PM CBD Bath Bomb from Lush

The 4:20pm CBD Bath Bomb is a brand-new product and is the first of its kind from Lush. It was released back on Christmas Eve, 2020. CBD is short for cannabidiol, cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants which I am sure many sceptical people will be pleased to hear, means that using this bath bomb will not get you high.

With this in mind I of course ordered a couple of the 4:20pm CBD bath bombs without hesitation as soon as they became available.

The above photo shows you both sides of the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb, it has to be the oddest shaped bath bomb I have seen from Lush to date. One side of the CBD bath bomb is round and green, and the other side is baby-pink with a peculiar square and triangle crystal-like-design. The green side has 4:20 etched into it and the baby-pink side has the words LUSH CBD etched into it.

There are several unconfirmed theories behind how the 4:20pm bath bomb got its name, I thought it was because during the first UK lockdown that is when Mark, the co-founder of Lush Cosmetics liked to take his daily bath. My husband however says it’s to do with a ‘special time’ associated with getting high. A sort of secret code between groups of friends.

I think I prefer the bath time theory but both could be the reason behind its name. Lush do like to poke fun at certain things and are well known for being and saying things that are a little tongue-in-cheek.

As soon as the 4:20pm CBD bath bomb comes into contact with the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of green and light pink bubbles. It’s a fairly quick fizzer and doesn’t create any bath art. This gives you ample time to sit back, relax and reap the benefits of this carefully crafted bath bomb with no distractions.

The 4:20pm CBD bath bomb contains cannabidiol, patchouli and sandalwood oils, it scent is earthy, woody and calming. Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with silky soft, moss-green bath water. It left my skin looking brighter and more hydrated yet not at all oily.

Once I was out of the bath I did feel very relaxed, I wouldn’t say I was anymore relaxed than I’d normally be after just an ordinary Lush bath though. I will have to try the CBD bath bomb a few more times before I can be sure as to whether the cannabidiol had any real/extra effects on me pain-relief wise.

After my bath I did go on to have quite a stressful day and I admit I got through it better than I normally would have, whether this was to do with the lingering effects of the bath bomb will remain a mystery but I’d certainly be happy to use this bath bomb again either way. 😊
