Ghost Shower Gel from Lush

The Ghost Shower Gel was on my Lush-must-haves list for a very long time before I finally got my hands on a bottle. It wasn’t on my list for quite as long as the Celebrate shower gel was, it was however on there long enough for me to breathe a sigh of relief once my online order of it had gone through.

The Ghost shower gel has a very gentle scent, on paper it isn’t actually a scent I would naturally gravitate towards as it is primarily floral. Be that as it may, my mind on its scent was soon changed after I had, had a sniff of my friends Moon on a Stick bath bomb, (it shares a scent with the Ghost shower gel). Without further a do, I quickly added everything Ghost scented on to my list of Lush-must-haves.

The Ghost shower gel has a long list of floralesque ingredients; Jasmine, ylang ylang, dove orchid, rose water and one of my favourites neroli. Looking at this long list you’d expect this shower gel to smell like your nan’s handbag, yet it doesn’t. It has a really creamy scent, I have seen some people over Instagram comparing it to Dove soap.

Ghost shower gels consistency reminds me of the So White shower gel. It needs a bit of a shake just before you use it. A lot of Lush’s shower gels need to have this done before use as the fresh ingredients used in them sometimes start to separate, this doesn’t mean that the product is going off it’s just the natural order of things when dealing with such fresh ingredients.

Ghost takes a little longer to lather up than other Lush shower gels, I also find that I need to use a little more of the product than I am used to with this type of Lush product. This is by no means a negative point though as I normally use very little of the shower gels per shower, I’d say a good 80% of Lush shower gels are ones where a little amount goes a long way, even though I am using more of Ghost it still isn’t nearly as much as I’d use from other shower gel brands.

I was pleasantly surprised at how soft and hydrated Ghost shower gel left my skin, I don’t know why but I seem to always convince myself that floral products will dry my skin out. I think the inclusion of rose water in this shower gel has helped a lot when it comes down to your skin. This shower gel would be a great product to use whilst on a sunny holiday as I can imagine it being very soothing on the skin after a day in the sun.

Ghost’s scent stays on your skin for a couple of hours after getting out of the bath/shower. I don’t dislike its scent, I just have other shower gels that I like more such a Hot Toddy, Twilight or Plum Rain. It is however a very good shower gel and it has opened up my senses, I am now eager to step out of my comfort zone and try other floral based products that I have avoided previously.

The Olive Branch Shower Gel from Lush

The Olive Branch Shower GelFor the longest time I didn’t give any attention to the The Olive Branch Shower Gel at all. Stupidly I just turned my nose up without even giving it a sniff, I see the word Olive and that was that. It wasn’t until I used the Lava Lamp bath bomb that I realised I had a soft spot for the products with orange flower absolute in.

Back when Lava Lamp was very first released (2015) it was an Oxford Street exclusive, after a few weeks it was unfortunately discontinued as it needed reformulating and I was heart broken. I went on a Lush mission and searched for alternative Lush products that also contained orange flower absolute. The first product that came up on the Lush website was the Pop In The Bath bubble bar. I quickly fell in love with Pop In The Bath’s scent, it’s not the same as the Lava Lamp bath bomb but it has a beautiful, delicate citrus scent that always leaves me wanting more.

The Olive Branch shower gel shares its scent with the Pop In The Bath bubble bar, as soon as I found this out I grabbed a bottle and I am now never without one.

Another thing that puts people off of the Olive Branch shower gel is the fact its ingredients separate in the bottle, this is not a sign of it going off, it’s just the olive oil in it collecting up at the top of the bottle, it’s simple science, all you have to do is give it a quick shake before use and it’s as good as new.

Once shaken the Olive Branch shower gel is a pastel orange colour, consistency wise the gel is quite runny, at first this annoyed me slightly but after I tried it a few times I realised that a little of it went a long way and that it lathered up a lot quicker than any other Lush shower gel that I have tried.

The olive oil in this shower gel is a real treat for your skin, the inclusion of it is why the shower gel is so watery. I can never get enough of it in the shower, especially in the Summer, it is perfect for this time of year. As described on Lush’s website using it really does make you feel like you’re chilling out and relaxing in the Mediterranean sunshine.

The Olive Branch shower gel went from being a product I never gave much thought on, to one of my all time favourites from first use. It works fantastically well as a shampoo too, I have really fine hair and sometimes conditioning it is a lost cause as it just makes it heavy and greasy straight away. My hair always washes great when I use The Olive Branch as a shampoo, at the same time as cleansing my hair it also keeps it well hydrated and conditioned. There’s no need for a conditioner and my hair looks and feels fabulous. The same goes for my skin when I use it just as a shower gel.

The Olive Branch is one of my all time favourite Lush scents, I have collected many different products that share its scent since first falling in love with it in 2015. I have the body lotion, the solid perfume and the, The Christmas Penguin bubble bar just to name a few.

The moral of the story is don’t let a products name put you off of even giving it a sniff, you could be pleasantly surprised!

Celebrate Shower Gel from Lush

Celebrate Shower Gel
Celebrate Shower Gel was (and still is to some extent) one of the rarest, most sought after Lush shower gels ever made. When it was first released it was an exclusive product to Lush Japan. I’m not completely sure of the exact ins and outs but from what I understand, Lush UK didn’t have the rights to make it. With it only being available to buy within Japan the demand for it world wide was through the roof. Unless you could get someone in Japan to ship it to you directly it was near on impossible to get hold of.

Back in 2016 Lush UK released a shower gel as a part of their winter line called Bubbly. It’s not the same as Celebrate shower gel but it does come from the same scent family. As there are so many beautiful Lush scent families to choose from it is impossible for me to pick just the one favourite, anything Celebrate scented is however always a hit with me.

Lush Kitchen reached 3 years young back in March 2017 and to celebrate they brought out Celebrate shower gel as a surprise! It was a dream come true for me and I did not see it coming. For me, it was a sit down and fan yourself type of surprise, Lush is my life, don’t judge me. Just as I had come to terms with the fact that I would probably never get my hands on a bottle, I did! Thank you Lush Kitchen, you rock my world!

As soon as you open the lid of Celebrate shower gel you are greeted with the comforting and refreshing scent of warming cognac, sweet orange and zesty lime. Much like the Bubbly shower gel, Celebrate is a fairly thick formula, to me it feels like more of a cream than a shower gel.

The smallest amount of Celebrate shower gel goes a very long way, this is a great trait to have in a product you love, especially when it is also a very rare product! it lathers up in your hands effortlessly and works even better with a shower pouf or washcloth. As you work it onto your body the scent really hits you. It’s a very delicate citrus fragrance that I can never, ever get enough of.

My skin adores it, as does my nose. Using Celebrate shower gel is great anytime of day but I love to use it of an evening after a long, hard day. It not only lifts my mood but also eases me into a relaxed state of mind, helping me wind down for bed time. Its scent reminds me of happy times. The first time I experienced the Celebrate scent was when I used a Golden Wonder bath bomb, I fell in love with it within seconds of using it and have been desperate to try every Celebrate scented product since.

I am curious as to whether Celebrate shower gel will be making a return as a part of 2017’s Winter line now that Lush UK have got the okay to make it here. I honestly wouldn’t mind either Celebrate or Bubbly though, they are both very good shower gels that I find work just as good as a shampoo too.  I would however be really upset if neither came back this year.

I can clearly see and smell why the Celebrate shower gel is so sought after and I am so thankful to the Lush Kitchen for pulling so many strings and finally giving us UK Lushies a chance to experience it!
