Shrek Swamp Bath Bomb from Lush

This March Lush have hit us with, yet another influx of collaboration products and I’ve never been more excited with a collection.

The new mini line that came out online today is inspired by no other than DreamWorks Animations’ Shrek franchise.

The brand-new products from the Lush X Shrek collection celebrate everyone’s inner swampy self and contrasts with the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic of recent years.

Ahead of the products website release, I was lucky enough to be gifted most of the line by Lush. thanks again Lush, you’ve made my month with this surprise box of Shrek goodies!

The Shrek Swamp Bath Bomb is the first of the products from the Lush X Shrek collaboration that I tried, and it did not disappoint.

Shrek Swamp is a mixture of two colours, bright green and chocolate brown and has a big green ‘S’ on its top, ogre ears and all.

Shrek Swamp is the perfect bath bomb to turn your bath water into swamp-bathwater, I’m positive that Shrek and every other ogre in the world would be proud of it.

The Shrek Swamp bath bomb contains pine oil, vetitvert oil, peppermint oil, cocoa absolute, cocoa powder, carrageenan extract, Fullers earth, rhassoul mud, arame seaweed and dried oakmoss.

Scent wise, before using the Shrek Swamp bath bomb my nose can detect the peppermint in it, the cocoa powder gives it a chocolatey layer as well.

The dried oakmoss and pine oil adds a foresty like layer to its scent too. In ways this part of the bath bomb reminds me of a mixture of the Lakes bath bomb mixed with some Grass shower gel.

When the Shrek Swamp bath bomb first encounters your bath water there is an explosion of green froth, slowly bubbling away. Not long after placing it into the water, brown froth begins to spill out of it too.

Slowly but surely, little bits of dried oakmoss and arame seaweed breaks free from the bath bomb filling your bath with swamp debris.

At this point I’d like to point out that if you don’t enjoy floating pieces in your bath water it would be best to use the Shrek Swamp bath bomb in a sock or stocking. That way, any floating debris will stay in that sock or stocking, but you’ll still get all the benefits from the ingredients.

For example the arame seaweed will still soften the water you just won’t have it loose in the water.

I don’t mind the ‘swamp life’ and used the Shrek Swamp bath bomb as it was designed, to get the true ogre, swamp experience.

Clean up with products like this is always a huge topic amongst customers. But luckily for you, I’ve used thousands of bath bombs so know a thing or two about them and how to ensure clean up isn’t hard work…

Every bath bomb you use will leave some sort of residue in your bathtub IF it has any soap scum in (even the invisible bits you can’t easily see).

I recommend running a sponge with dish soap on it around your tub after each use, this cuts and wipes away any stubborn grease or residue that may be left behind, even the left-over bits you can’t see.

Doing this followed by a quick rinse makes the world of difference when using bath bombs.

I do feel like I need to point out that you should bear in mind that this bath bomb is to create swamp like water though; It’s not an ordinary bath bomb, it’s swamp chic not ‘clean girl’ chic!

Once in the hot water the scent of the Shrek Swamp bath bomb seems to change a little bit, the chocolate aspect seems to disappear and a new layer of scent seems to come through, there’s an almost smoky, slightly spicy air to it, it’s subtle but definitely there.

The peppermint and pine oil in it really shines through during use, filling your bath bomb with its forest-fresh fragrance.

It takes a good 5 minutes for the Shrek Swamp bath bomb to fully dissolve, and the water left behind is heavily fragranced and the exact shade of green that Shrek is.

The scent of the Shrek Swamp bath bomb lasted on my skin for the rest of the day, I was pleasantly surprised at how soft and hydrated it left my skin too.

As I said earlier, I didn’t use the bath bomb in a stocking, so I did have swamp debris in with me in the tub. The larger bits were very easy to fish out and place in the bin and the smaller bits went down the plug hole no problem.

The Shrek Swamp bath bomb does contain skin-loving Fullers earth and rhassoul mud so you will need to rinse your bath out after using it BUT if you stick with my sponge and dish soap trick, the rinse will take only seconds instead of several minutes.

Overall, I’m so in love with the Shrek Swamp bath bomb, it’s so well thought out and my skin adored soaking up all of its ingredients.

I can’t wait to review the other Shrek stock!

Sakura Shower Gel from Lush

The Sakura Shower Gel started off its Lush life as a Lush Japan exclusive.

Luckily for Lush customers in the UK, Lush decided to release a very small batch of it, making it possible for me to grab myself a bottle.

It was ridiculously popular and sold out within less than 24 hours of its UK release.

The shower gel is described by Lush as a ‘bouquet in a bottle’. If you’ve used the Sakura bath bomb, you’ll recognise its gentle and calming scent straight away.

The name Sakura is actually the Japanese term for cherry blossom trees; With this in mind, the Sakura Lush-scent-family was created to evoke the burst of optimism that the first signs of Spring bring.

The Sakura shower gel contains fresh lemon juice, Sicilian lemon oil, mimosa absolute, orange flower absolute and jasmine absolute. When Lush described it as a bouquet in a bottle, they couldn’t have been any more accurate.

Sakura is not an in-your-face strong fragrance, as I said earlier, it is very gentle. The light floral notes it gives off make the scent have a super-clean and refreshing feel to it.

The fragrance reminds me of the cherry blossom trees I had outside of my house when I was a little girl. They always seemed to smell fresher after a good sprinkling of rain and that’s exactly how I feel about the Sakura shower gel lathered up with your shower water.

A very small amount of the Sakura shower gel goes an incredibly long way; It has a creamy consistency and gets even creamier the more you lather it up.

The Sakura shower gel glides over your skin leaving it clean, hydrated, and fresh, it’s a true Spring-clean for your skin.

Its scent really shines through when combined with the hot water and steam from your shower and it feels incredible lathered up on your skin.

There is no need at all to moisturise after using this shower gel.

For such a gentle fragrance I was surprised at its staying power. I can still smell the scent on my skin long after using it.

If you are looking for a creamy shower gel that not only cleans but freshens up tired and dull skin too, look no further.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Sakura shower gel, I can only have my fingers crossed that Lush decide to make it more readily available so that everyone can give it a try, I already regret only getting one bottle!

Cheep Cheep Bath Bomb from Lush

The Cheep Cheep Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Easter line.

Weighing in at just 75g each, Cheep Cheep is one of Lush’s smaller bath bombs. With it being so small, it’s also very cheap, no pun intended!

When the 2024 Easter collection was first announced the Cheep Cheep bath bomb caught my eye straight away as I can never resist a bath bomb that has eyes.

Looking at ALL of the bath bombs in this year’s Easter and Mother’s Day lines, it has never been harder to believe that they are all handmade.

The Cheep Cheep bath bomb is a bright yellow chick shaped bath bomb. Some of its ingredients include both bergamot and lime oils, violet leaf absolute, fine sea salt and a generous helping of popping candy.

Its scent is very similar to the Ostara bath bomb and What’s Up, Doc? Shower gel from past Easter lines. They are pretty much identical BUT I feel as if the Cheep Cheep bath bomb has a stronger berry scent-layer within it, somehow it smells more tropical to me.

Cheep Cheep’s scent is refreshing and fruity making it perfect for the Springtime and all-things-Easter. It’s a very berry-led-scent, the more you sniff it the more layers of fragrance seem to come through. If you like the Lush products that are fruity but not citrus heavy, it’s a perfect choice for you.

I don’t quite know how, but the blend of bergamot, lime and other ingredients in this bath bomb really gives off a raspberry like scent. It’s not an easy one to describe, it is a little citrusy but completely different from any citrus-Lush-scent made before.

As soon as the Cheep Cheep bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a hiss of yellow bubbles.

The Cheep Cheep bath bomb doesn’t offer anything bath-art-wise but quickly turns your bath water the same bright yellow as the bath bomb.

While the bath bomb fizzes away, its inviting-fruity-scent fills your bathroom.

It took just a little over 2 minutes for the Cheep Cheep bath bomb to fully dissolve, I thought at first that I’d missed the popping candy in it but as I went to lay back to just enjoy the fruity scented hot-water, snap, crackle, and pops began to sizzle away!

As I said earlier, the waters left behind by the Cheep Cheep bath bomb were bright yellow.

Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved the yellow water is really soft and still highly fragranced. A good soak in a Cheep Cheep bath left my skin feeling brighter and more refreshed. The scent could still be detected in my bathroom long after the last drop of bath water went down the plug hole too.

The scent also remained on my skin for a good few hours after getting out of the bath.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Cheep Cheep bath bomb. Nothing can upstage its beautiful scent!
