Yog Nog Shower Gel from Lush

After somewhat of a Yog Nog drought, Lush have suddenly decided to use the Yog Nog fragrance in every format you can possibly think of, prepare yourself for the oncoming onslaught of Yog Nog scented reviews over the next few weeks! This year (2019) Yog Nog seems to be just as popular (if not more) as the long-term staple Christmas-product-family, Snow Fairy.

Todays review will be on the Yog Nog Shower Gel, SPOILER ALERT it’s probably my favourite product format of the Yog Nog fragrance to date. My first experience with Yog Nog was back in 2015 when the Yog Nog bath bomb was a part of the Christmas line it wasn’t my favourite from that year but I didn’t dislike it.

Yog Nog scent has grown on me quite a considerable amount, its fragrance is in simple terms absolutely delicious. If you have a sweet tooth and love Christmassy scented baked goods then you’ll be a fan of anything Yog Nog for sure. The fragrance makes me think of hot-sticky-toffee, custard and cinnamon sugar. Yum.

2019 has been a very good year for new Lush shower gels; If you thought that the Intergalactic shower gel was sparkly then you’ll think that the Yog Nog shower gel is full of super-sparkly, microscopic diamonds! it’s so dazzling, photos do it no justice at all. You really have to experience it for yourselves to see just how visually beautiful a shower gel it is, it’s liquid gold!

Yog Nog shower gel contains Maple syrup water, carrageenan extract, jojoba, clove bud and ylang ylang oil. It is a truly luxurious shower gel, it’s warming, moisturising and lathers up quickly. A little of it also goes a very long way but if you’re anything like me you won’t be able to help yourself and use a lot just because it looks so pretty coming out of the bottle.

Once the shower gel is in your hands and exposed to the hot water and steam its fragrance becomes oh-so-biscuity, again a little goes a very long way but I find myself using more than I need just because it looks and smells so good. Consistency wise it’s a little runnier than I’d like but still very effective as a shower gel, it leaves my skin moisturised, soft and noticeably brighter.

Its scent stays on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day, I have however heard that some people can’t smell it on their skin after an hour or 2.  I did a little research into this as I wanted to find out why and how this was possible; I discovered that there’s actually a scientific reason for this, it all depends on your skins pH levels. Mystery solved!

Overall I am really, really impressed with the Yog Nog shower gel, as I said above it’s my favourite product format in the Yog Nog scent and I am looking forward to reviewing some of the other Yog Nog goodies for you all very soon.

Fireball Bath Bomb from Lush

With December just around the corner the weather has (for everyone living my side of the world anyway; Shout out to my readers in New Zealand and Australia! 😉) turned bitterly cold. I am a Summer girl through and through and I think if it wasn’t for Lush’s amazing Winter line coming out every year, I would quite happily hibernate in a big fluffy dressing gown from now until late Spring.

Fireball is yet another brand new bath bomb from Lush this year (2019). There’s nothing quite like curling up in front of a warm fire but if like me you live without a working fireplace, the Fireball Bath Bomb really is the next best thing!

Fireball shares its scent with a much loved past-Christmas bath bomb called Cinders, I am lucky enough to have tried both and their scents really are identical, they both however perform so differently once in the water.

Containing mustard powder, cinnamon leaf and Brazilian orange oil Fireball is one of the warmest bath bombs I have come across, its scent is both warm and sweet. Lush products with cinnamon in are always welcome in my house. Cinnamon is a wonderful spice, I suffer with chronic pain and it is really good at soothing aching muscles, its warming effects stimulate blood circulation too.

Living up to its name, the Fireball bath bomb is shaped and designed to look just like a burning ball of fire. It isn’t like any other bath bomb that Lush have made before. Fireball is bright and bold, if its scent doesn’t warm you up then it’s yellow, orange and red colouring certainly will.

As soon as the Fireball bath bomb touches the water an eruption of orange, yellow and red bubbles fizzle out of it. Its warm and sweet scent fills your bathroom and once it’s been in the water for a while a smokey scent-layer seems to appear, reminding me even more of a real log fire.

After the Fireball bath bomb has bobbed around the surface of your bath water sending swirls of orange, red and yellow patterns across the water surface for a bit, the bath bomb suddenly begins to snap, crackle and pop… 😱

Lush have cleverly added popping candy to the ingredients of the Fireball bath bomb and what a show it puts on! the popping candy truly completes this bath bomb, it really is just like sitting in front of a real log fire, the popping and crackling every now again takes me right back to being a kid trying to warm myself up in front of the fire place. It’s such a brilliant idea and really does capture so much of an actual log fire.

The bath art that the Fireball bath bomb creates more-than-surpasses the non existent bath art created by the aforementioned Cinders bath bomb. Think of Fireball as Cinders’ much cooler little sister. It leaves the bath water a blood orange colour and also makes it silky smooth to touch. On a relaxation scale, the Fireball bath bomb is through the roof.

Once out of the bath the scent of the Fireball bath bomb remained on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it was subtle but present. I found that it left my skin feeling soft, hydrated and also brighter appearance wise.

I wish Lush would have rereleased the Cinders shower gel this year (shares a scent with Fireball) as pairing the both of them would be a legendary mix. The Fireball/Cinders fragrance screams Winter and I just can’t get enough of it. Even writing this review is tempting me into using the Fireball bath bomb again.

Overall I am really impressed with the Fireball bath bomb, it’s probably one of my favourite releases from this year. If you think the Magma bath bomb is a little too expensive then I’d definitely recommend giving the Fireball bath bomb a go instead, both are really warming, I will be sad to see Fireball go once the Winter line wraps up.

Galaxy Lip Scrub from Lush

Another season, another brand-new Lush lip scrub! This year Lush have spoilt us rotten with several brand new lip scrubs. Today my review is on their most recent release, the Galaxy Lip Scrub. Just like the Pop Art bath bomb, Galaxy is actually a part of this years (2019) Christmas line, which leads me to the first thing I love about it; It’s not an in-your-face Christmas product.

The main ingredient in Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a simple blend of natural ingredients can do such a great job. Lush lip scrubs are ridiculously underrated and more people need to try them; And I hope the influx of all of the new ones released this year have inspired people to do just that.

Using a Lush lip scrub requires minimum effort and they cover everything your lips need to always look their best. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry, chapped lips and are also very good at softening and hydrating them at the same time. Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits and has never been easier or tastier thanks to Lush!

As well as caster sugar the Galaxy lip scrub also contains organic jojoba oil, shea butter, cold pressed raspberry seed oil, buchu oil and lemon myrtle oil. You may be wondering why a raspberry scented lip scrub is called ‘Galaxy’ and I promise you there is method behind the madness. On Lush’s website it explains that ‘astronomers discovered the substance Ethyl Formate at the centre of the Milky Way, and it just so happens this sweet little compound also gives raspberries their fruity juicy sweetness.’

This makes the Galaxy lip scrub a true taste of space! Earlier on in the year I wrote in my review of the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub that it was the best tasting lip scrub that I had tried to date. Move over Pumpkin Spice, Galaxy lip scrub is now top of my list. OBVIOUSLY you’re technically not supposed to eat the lip scrubs but if you do end up swallowing a bit, you’ll live. 😉

I’m a huge fan of raspberries and the Galaxy lip scrub is just like the Slush Puppy ice drink I used to go mad for as a kid. I will warn you though, as tasty as Galaxy smells and tastes, less really is more. With it being so scrumptious I over indulged on my first few uses and unfortunately it gave my lips a slight blue tinge… Making it even more like the Slush Puppy ice drink, it came off easily enough but isn’t ideal if you’re in a hurry.

I have found if you only use a small amount (a small amount is more than sufficient too) there’s no risk of blue lips which I’m very thankful for as I do really, really like the Galaxy lip scrub and if this wasn’t the case I would have had to abandon it.

I have also found it to be a much more gentle formula (scrub wise) than other Lush lip scrubs. The less-coarse formula actually works just as well, It’s almost as if the finer consistency helps the level of exfoliation go that little bit further. I find Galaxy very hydrating too but again, don’t use to much or leave it on for too long because of the blue!

Overall I am head over heels in love with the Galaxy lip scrub, it smells amazing, tastes delicious and works a treat when used sensibly. 😉 I really do hope to see Lush try and make more Lush products with the same scent as the Galaxy lip scrub, now that they’ve mastered it in the lip scrub format I’d love to maybe see it in a bath bomb or body scrub.
