Error 404 Bath Bomb from Lush #KeepItOn

The Error 404 Bath Bomb is back for a really great cause and with a brand new scent!

All of the profits made from the sales of it go to the Digital Fund supporting Access Now.

The people behind Access Now defend the digital rights of users at risk around the world.

They are campaigning to make having internet access a human right.

Globally, internet has become an essential to everyday life, switching it off for a country completely is not just an inconvenience, it’s life damaging.

Shutting down the internet doesn’t just make it impossible to have a cheeky browse of your Instagram feed, it stops ALL online communication for everyone and every thing.

Without internet access families are torn apart unable to communicate with each other, emergency services are unable to share vital information, even businesses lose out on money.

Whole countries are silenced with one flick of a switch. Complete internet shutdown causes absolute chaos.

All profits from the Error 404 are going to the Digital Fund and they aim to raise a grand total of £250,000.

The Digital Fund support grassroot activists and charities protecting the ‘freedom of expression in the digital era,’ while also ‘fighting to keep the internet free, open and safe.’

Lush have previously done several campaigns like this before and all have been a real success.

The selling of the May Day bath bomb and the Love Soap were the most recent off of the top of my head.

I love companies that give instead of just take, take, taking.

The old scent of the Error 404 wasn’t one of my favourites so I was happily gloating when I found out that they had changed it. Its new scent is very strong, I was a little taken aback when I first had it in my hands, I however have decided that I do in fact like it, a lot.

Scent wise I’d describe it as burnt toffee. I know that doesn’t sound overly appealing but it’s just how my nose has envisioned it. It’s sweet, smoky and warming which is all I look for in a bath bomb during the cold winter months.

Error 404 is decorated with a coating of golden lustre, lustre sometimes puts people off of a Lush product, I even used to avoid them myself. I now know that there really isn’t anything to worry about with them, it’s exactly the same type of lustre you find in makeup, bronzers or highlighters, harmless.

I cannot emphasise enough that you do not need to be scared of the shimmery Lush products. Using them doesn’t make you look like you’ve had a fight with a fairy and lost. I promise!

Once in the water the scent of Error 404 fills your bathroom. It becomes a much more gentle scent which I really liked.

The water turns an aqua blue colour. Once the coating of gold lustre has dissolved a green layer is revealed. Other colours then come out of the bath bomb, blue and gold. The patterns it creates are so pretty and made me think of peacocks.

The calming pastel colours and the scent of 404 are a match made in heaven. My skin is silky smooth once I get out and I also feel warm, refreshed and super relaxed after using it.

Once the bath bomb has finished you find a surprise paper insert with a message.

I got a little impatient with mine and accidently ripped the corner and smooshed the text, whoops… It should read: ‘Visit AccessNow.org/KeepItOn to fight internet shutdowns #KeepItOn’.

Until this campaign started I was ignorantly unaware that internet shutdowns actually happened. Now I know about them and I am aware of the negative impact they have on a country, it has made me feel so grateful for what we have here in the UK. I will now always think twice before I moan about poor signal on my phone or laptop.

Mr Sandman Dusting Powder from Lush

mr-sandman-dusting-powder

Mr Sandman Dusting Powder is yet another brand new Twilight scented product that has been welcomed with open arms by the Lush community.

I am a little disappointed that it appears to have replaced my all time favourite festive dusting powder, First Snow. I am however always more than happy to try a new Lush product and even more so when it is Twilight scented!

If you have read any of my previous reviews on the other various Twilight scented products, you’d know that the Twilight bath bomb was the very first bath bomb that I tried from Lush. I of course became bath bomb bonkers on first use and just under four years later, here I still am raving about it.

When I first got into Lush I had no idea that their products even had scent families. I just thought that the Twilight bath bomb was lavender scented. I had no idea of the complexity of ingredients chosen to go into each and every single product that Lush have on offer.

Mr Sandman’s scent family happens to be one of the biggest sellers for Lush. This is reflected in the huge amount of Twilight scented products that they have created.

This year in particular, Lush have well and truly spoilt the Twilight fans with lots of new, never before released items. We have had the Twilight Shower Jelly in the Lush Kitchen and right now the Twilight and Luxury Lush Pud bath bombs are available to purchase as are the Sleepy body lotion and the Mr Sandman dusting powder. They have even re-released the much loved Twilight shower gel for the festive period in their flagship store in London, Oxford Street.

I’d say that the majority of newbie Lushies do not have any idea on the amount of products they actually do. When you say ‘Lush Cosmetics,’ the first thing that people say is ‘Oh the bath bomb shop?’ Once you’re hooked on the bath bombs that’s when you begin to explore what other products they have.

Mr Sandman is a dusting powder and is used in the same way as a talcum powder, it is applied all over the body after washing and/or moisturising or for a quick refresh in between.

Its purpose is to absorb your skin’s excess oils while also adding an extra layer of fragrance to your skin. After applying Mr Sandman my skin is not only fragranced with the Twilight scent but is also smooth to the touch. It makes your skin feel silky soft and works wonders in areas of your body that are prone to sometimes get excessively sweaty such as under your boobs. Although it’s not an antiperspirant it does help keep sweat away for a little longer than when you go without.

Some people may be put off by Mr Sandman as it does have a small amount of lustre in. Back when I first got in to Lush I was a lustre sceptic I however now know that it’s really nothing to worry about. It’s the same type of shimmer that you’d find in make up such as a highlighter or bronzer. It adds a slight gleam to your skin and I honestly don’t even notice if a product has it in or not anymore, either way it doesn’t bother me.

Pairing Mr Sandman up with Lush’s other new Twilight scented product Sleepy Body Lotion is a force to be reckoned with, this simple Lush cocktail aids restful sleep that makes Maleficent’s sleeping curse look weak.

The carefully selected ingredients that lull you into a relaxed state of mind, which in turn aids restful sleep are lavender, chamomile, tonka absolute and ylang ylang. Although I can’t give Mr Sandman or Sleepy all of the credit, every time I have used them both together, I have been able to drop off to sleep much quicker and easier, which is a huge deal for me considering that I had previously struggled to fall asleep full stop.

Over all I am very impressed with the Mr Sandman dusting powder, I was a little shocked at its high price however now I have used it I know it is worth every penny.

NEW Northern Lights Bath Bomb From Lush

When I found out that Lush were bringing the Northern Lights bath bomb back as a product in their Winter 2016 line I was ecstatic. I was even more excited to see that it had also been redesigned, its previous shape was in my opinion more fragile than glass.

Regardless of its fragility I never ever, passed up the chance to order a few when they appeared in the Lush Kitchen. Broken or whole, the old Northern Lights bath bomb always put on a fantastic show.

Above is a photograph of the newly redesigned Northern Lights. You can see a photo and my review oF the older design here.

15420935_1891659507729935_8570527621631102437_n

I managed to get hold of the new Northern Lights bath bomb at the Lush Creative Showcase last week so am lucky to be one of the first to try it.

Scent wise the Northern Lights bath bomb hasn’t changed at all which I am really happy about. The only real difference is that it’s shortened and got a little plumper around the middle. The only other noticeable difference is that one side of the bath bomb is visibly yellow and the other blue.

As soon as you pick up a Northern Lights bath bomb the scent really hits you, it’s not particularly strong although some may say it is because it is a very unique scent.

When I first used the older version of Northern Lights it actually took me a little while to get used to its scent, once it had finished fizzing away in the bath I was however in love with everything about it including its scent.

Containing Jasmine Absolute I always expected that when I first got my hands on a Northern Lights bath bomb that it would smell similar to the Sakura bath bomb. Although Jasmine Absolute is definitely in both bath bombs, they really don’t have that much in common scent wise. I’d label Sakura as a refreshing scent and Northern Lights as calm, musky and relaxing.

Summed up quickly Northern Lights has a musky, floral scent. I want to also say that it’s multi-tonal too but as I have said many times before, I am useless at describing scents. It’s a beautiful scent that has depth, the more you focus on its scent, the more your nose seems to pick up.

As soon as the Northern Lights bath bomb hits your bath water the most spectacular show begins. You are greeted with mounds of beautiful purple foam that is instantly followed by blue and yellow foam from either side of it too. Its scent becomes more gentle once in the water, helping you slip into relaxation, releasing any tension built up from your day.

The purple, blue and yellow colours all clash so well, the bath art it creates is also beautifully spectacular, my photos do not do the bath bomb any justice, you really have to try it for yourself to truly see how wonderful it is.

Unlike the older version of the Northern Lights bath bomb the new version of it seems to hydrate my skin a lot better. The older one I found a little drying so I am happy that the new version caters to my dehydrated skins needs.

I stand by my previous statement in my first review, Lush really do need to bring out a moisturiser/body lotion with the Northern Lights scent too. I always feel so cheated when I have to add another scent to my skin, especially when I like the bath bombs scent so very much.

Once in the water the bath bombs scent does soften slightly it doesn’t however go away, its scent stays with you all day through and I love how it lingers, there is no need to wear any perfume.

At this point of my review on the original shaped Northern Lights, I added a plea to Lush to rethink the bath bomb’s shape.

Lush obviously listened to all of our concerns otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this now. The big question is, is it better than the older version?

Yes!

It is far more robust and everything that needed tweaking slightly haS been tweaked taking it from being a lovely bath bomb to a perfect one instead.

I can’t quite remember what colour the bath water of the older version was once the bath bomb had all fizzled away, I think it was a blueish purple. The new version however leaves your water an emerald green. Which was another great surprise for me.

The Northern Lights bath bomb really is bath time magic, it has hypnotic colours and the most relaxing aroma. It really is a crime that Lush Cosmetics don’t have any more readily available products sharing its scent, here is my second plea to Lush… Please can we have a shower gel in its scent? A Northern Lights shower gel would really, really make me the happiest Lushie in the world! it would be amazing right?
