Whoosh Temple Balm from Lush

Temple balms aren’t new to Lush, I first tried the Whoosh Temple Balm on one of my very first visits to Lush Oxford Street. I think at the time of my first visit, both it and the Dream Time temple balm were only available in spa stores.

Fast forward to 2024 and both the Whoosh and Dream Time temple balms have been revamped with new packaging and are now available to purchase online.

Previously, the temple balms have only been sold in little tins, now they are in twisting capped tubes (a bit like a school glue stick) that you push up from the bottom. As a disabled woman who often struggles to open small tins, this has pleased me no end!

We can also all get excited as the new temple balm packaging is a part of Lush’s plastic pot return scheme. If you didn’t know already, you can bring your clean, empty pots into a Lush store to swap them for money off your next purchase!

Temple balms are meant to be applied directly on to your temples but can also be applied on all of your pulse points too. Personally, I like to put the Lush temple balms on the inside of my wrists a bit like you would a perfume.

The Whoosh temple balm is meant to be used when you’re in need of a boost, Lush’s website describes it as a ‘sweet and zesty aroma of get-up-and-go grapefruit’ as well as claiming that it is ‘perfect for perking up a dull morning.’

Whoosh contains organic jojoba oil, organic castor oil, organic candelilla wax, grapefruit oil, rosemary oil and geranium oil.

The most dominant ingredient my nose picks up on is the grapefruit, Lush weren’t wrong when they said that the Whoosh temple balms scent would leave you bright and alert.

The Whoosh temple balm glides on to your skin easily and a very small amount goes a long way, like the Dream Time temple balm it’s a very strong scent too. Only a dab of it on your pulse points is necessary.

I’m quite funny with things that could potentially make my already oily face oilier. The Whoosh temple balm is however not a greasy formula and soaks into your skin super quickly so I’m happy to use it on my temples. The scent lasts for a good few hours too.

There’s just something so energising about the Whoosh temple balms scent, it smells just like something I’d be served for breakfast to set me up for the day at a really fancy hotel!

While I can’t say for certain that it’s only the Whoosh temple balm that has helped put a spring in my step of a morning, I do seem to feel a little more cheerful on the days that I have used it.

Dream Time Temple Balm from Lush

Temple balms aren’t new to Lush, I first tried the Dream Time Temple Balm on my very first visit to Lush Oxford Street. I think at the time of my first visit, both it and the Whoosh temple balm were only available in spa stores. Fast forward to 2024 and both the Whoosh and Dream Time temple balms have been revamped with new packaging and are now available to purchase online.

Temple balms are meant to be applied directly on to your temples but can also be applied on all of your pulse points too. Personally, I like to put the Lush temple balms on the inside of my wrists a bit like you would a perfume.

The Dream Time temple balm’s name is self-explanatory; Meant to be used before bed, Lush’s website describes it as a ‘soporifically scented balm that works hard to calm hardworking minds and promote relaxation.’

Dream Time contains organic jojoba oil, organic castor oil, organic candelilla wax, lavender oil, ginger oil, sandalwood oil, chamomile blue oil and jasmine absolute.

The most dominant ingredient my nose picks up on in Dream Time is the lavender, next is the chamomile. It is a really relaxing scent.

The Dream Time temple balm glides on to your skin easily and a very small amount goes a long way, it’s quite a strong scent too. My husband can always tell when I’ve put only the smallest amount of it on.

I’m quite funny with strong scents (especially before bed as my brain will try absolutely anything to distract itself from getting some rest) Dream Time temple balm is however not a greasy formula and soaks into your skin super quickly. The strength of the scent doesn’t last for long, but I still feel just as relaxed even after the fragrance has lessened.

While I can’t say for certain that it’s only Dream Time that has helped me sleep better, I do seem to drop off a little easier after using it.

If I have had a stressful or upsetting day I do reach for it and I’m excited that now it is more readily available I can make it a proper part of my every day routine!

Karma Yantra Bath Bomb from Lush

The Karma Yantra Bath Bomb started off it’s Lush life as a Lush Spa exclusive, it wasn’t available to purchase and was exclusively used only within the Karma spa treatment. I haven’t been lucky enough to have the Karma treatment yet BUT I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to experience it one day in the not so distant future. 🤞

Back in 2019 Lush released a shed-load of limited edition bath bombs in celebration of 30 years since one of the brains-behind-Lush, invented the bath bomb.

Luckily one of the bath bombs out of the long list of limited edition releases happened to be the Karma Yantra bath bomb; Therefore for a small amount of time, people could buy it and try it outside of the spa treatment!

Karma Yantra’s scent is from the Karma scent family. Karma is a hugely popular fragrance that features in copious amounts of different Lush products, in several different formats.

The Karma Yantra bath bomb has a long list of ingredients, on paper you’d think all of them would never work together but in reality – all of them blended together really work. Each ingredient compliments one another perfectly.

The most prominent ingredients that come through when I sniff the Karma Yantra bath bomb are the patchouli, orange and pine oils. The scent is very refreshing – which I think is down to the orange and pine oils in it. The patchouli also adds a peppery almost spicy layer to its fragrance.

The Karma Yantra bath bomb quite simply oozes happiness and good vibes.

Karma Yantra is a flat, rather large bath bomb. Its size and thickness is very similar to the Skydancer Far From The Madding Guns and Granny Takes A Dip bath bombs. It is a fantastically bold orange colour with raised yellow indents; the yellow indents show a sun-frame-like circle with an equilateral triangle inside; Inside that triangle is another equilateral triangle and so on.

Once placed in to the bath water you are greeted with a hiss of fizzing orange bubbles. With the bath bomb being flat and therefore skinnier than the normal round bath bombs, it doesn’t take very Long to dissolve. It’s not a bath-arty type of bath bomb either, it’s beautifully designed but I think the highlight and main selling point for this bath bomb is its breath-of-fresh-air, welcoming scent.

Overall I really enjoyed using the Karma Yantra bath bomb, my skin felt fabulous after use and the Karma scent remained on my skin well into the next day too.

I hope that I can experience the Karma spa treatment one day. I have my fingers crossed, it’s very high up on my bucket list! 🤞
