Disco Duck Bath Bomb from Lush

The Disco Duck Bath Bomb was first released by Lush in their 2022, Easter line. It’s yellow all over with a small dark green beak. Designed to look like it is put together in little square pieces (just like a reflective disco ball) it is quite the eye catcher!

Out of this years’ (2022) Easter line, I think it is one of the more interesting products to look at and I looked forward to trying it in the bath.

The Disco Duck bath bomb is a smaller sized bath bomb at approximately 110g each. For comparison purposes the Butterball bath bomb is 95g and an Intergalactic bath bomb is 200g.

On Lush’s website the Disco Duck bath bomb is described as being a ‘quacking good pick-me-up’. It contains; juniper berry, Persian lime and rosemary oils alongside menthol crystals, guarana powder and a sprinkle of popping candy too.

The Disco Duck bath bomb’s scent is quite an acquired taste. I first experienced its scent in the Party On shower jelly back when the Lush Kitchen had a weekly menu. Being honest as always, it wasn’t a product I liked. In fact, I disliked it so much that I didn’t bother to review it on here and quickly gave the shower jelly away.

You may wonder why I even bothered to try the bath bomb after I didn’t enjoy the shower jelly equivalent. I however always strive to try everything from the limited-edition, seasonal lines at least once. Quite often I find that different product formats carry the same scents very differently too.

It was a bit of a gamble ordering a Disco Duck online, but it was a gamble that paid off, as in the end I really did enjoy using it!

Upon cold sniff, the Disco Duck’s scent is zesty with a heavy menthol and aniseed-rich edge. I feel as if the scent disappeared completely as the bath bomb dissolved which in most cases would I annoy me, however, with me not being a huge fan of its scent, it actually worked in this products favour.

As soon as the Disco Duck bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss, as a thin layer of green and yellow foam fizzles out of it.

It feels like Lush haven’t released a bath bomb that creates bath art like Disco Duck does in forever. Bath art wise, the Disco Duck bath bomb didn’t disappoint. Yellow and green swirls are created as Disco Duck charges around the bathtub like a mini speed boat.

The water left behind is bright green, so bright that it reminds me of a high-vis safety jacket. The water turns silky to-the-touch too. My dry skin loved soaking in all of the bath bombs’ goodness and the guarana powder in it really shines through, Lush weren’t lying when they said the Disco Duck bath bomb was a pick-me-up, it left my skin positively glowing!

I do think the bath bomb could have had a little more popping candy in it, I actually had to double check the ingredients after I had used it as it didn’t snap, crackle and pop very much at all, – so little that I thought I had imagined it…

… Overall, I did very much enjoy using Disco Duck. It’s saving grace for me was the fact its scent completely disappeared during use. I know this may however be a negative for most customers, as it would be for me if it was made in a Lush-scent-family that I really liked.

Besties Bubble Bar from Lush

The Besties Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited edition, Lush product that is a proud, stand-out member of this years (2022) Mother’s Day line. It first became available in the middle of February 2022 and has proven very popular since its release.

The Besties bubble bar is designed to look like an adult and baby giraffe having a cuddle, can a bubble bar get any cuter? I think not…

This year’s Mother’s Day line is packed full of some of the cutest products Lush have ever created, there seems to be a bit of an animal theme going on and I can’t get enough of it!

Besties bubble bar is bright yellow with bright pink spots, its scent is a part of Lush’s Celebrate scent-family. The Celebrate scent is hugely popular and features in many Lush products, I believe the most recently released products that share its fragrance are the Golden Pudding bath bomb and Celebrate body spray.

Besties contains, Brazilian orange and lime oils. Its scent is warm, bubbly, and full of citrusy goodness. It literally smells of happiness. Even just a quick whiff of it always puts a smile on my face.

The scent seems to work in whatever product format Lush make it into. To this day, Lush have never released a Celebrate scented product that I haven’t liked.

The Besties bubble bar is 120g so a little bit smaller than the, The Comforter bubble bar. The one thing I love about Lush’s bubble bars over their bath bombs is that they can be spread out over several baths. You could easily get 3 adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Besties bubble bar.

I know some people will use the whole bar in one bath and it’s all down to personal preference, I do however recommend spreading it out so that you get more for your money.

Spreading it out over 2 or 3 baths does not hinder how well it works bubble and scent wise either. A small amount of this bubble bar goes a very long way!

To use the Besties bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubble bars.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubble to form, underneath is bright yellow, citrusy scented, silky-smooth bath water.

The scent and bubbles last throughout my whole time in the bath and the silky-smooth water leaves my skin feeling and appearing brighter. I wouldn’t say the Besties bubble bar is particularly moisturising, but it didn’t dry out my skin at all.

Overall I really enjoyed using the Besties bubble bar, its scent is perfect, and its design is one of the cutest I have seen from Lush. There’s just something about Lush products with faces! Besties was almost too cute to use but I can never resist using a Celebrate scented product!

I hope Besties comes back for Mother’s Day next year although I doubt it will as Lush are famous for making ‘one time’ products.

Yummy Custard Body Wash from Lush

The Yummy Custard Body Wash is a brand-new, limited edition, 2022 Mother’s Day product. This year’s range isn’t as large as those from years before BUT each product in it is of the highest standard. I much prefer quality over quantity and this year’s Mother’s Day line is the best seasonal line we’ve had in a long time.

Yummy Custard body wash contains vanilla oat milk, fair trade organic aloe vera gel, corn starch, vanilla pod powder and glycerine.

It shares its scent with the Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser and the now discontinued, Nana shower gel. Both of those products are loved by all in my household so the chance of trying a body wash equivalent had us all eager to try it.

In October 2021, Lush released another body wash called Posh Chocolate. Yummy Custard is very similar consistency wise. It’s a lot like the butter icing you get on the last slice of a big cake, almost solid on the outside but fluffy and creamy underneath that very thin outer layer.

As you can see in the photo above, Yummy Custard is a creamy off-white colour and is speckled with tiny black vanilla seeds. A little amount of it goes a very long way making it excellent value for money.

It’s creamy consistency just glides onto your skin, melting and sinking in like butter on hot toast; It’s amazing for my dry skin. It’s quite literally the best in-shower-product that I have used on my dry skin.

It instantly soothes and my skin has never looked so well nourished and smooth in such a short space of time. One minute my skin is dry, the next I use Yummy Custard and it’s like my skin was never dry at all!

To use, all you’re meant to do is scoop a little amount of it out of the pot and then slather it all over your body. You just massage it in, concentrating a little more on your dryer areas such as your elbows and knees, then you simply rinse it off. I then just pat myself dry with a towel.

The tiny black vanilla seeds in it do not scratch or irritate you at all, if I’m being honest, I don’t even notice them – Amazingly, its sweet popcorn like fragrance remained on my skin right into the next day, my skin is also just as smooth and nourished 24 hours after using it too, something I was pleasantly surprised with.

I will most certainly be taking a large pot of this on my next sunny holiday, I can imagine it feeling amazing on your skin after a long day in the sun. I love how gentle the formula is too. My skin has never felt so good!

If you love the Posh Chocolate body wash then I highly recommend you trying out Yummy Custard. I think I may in fact like Yummy Custard more than I do Posh Chocolate…

Overall, I LOVE the Yummy Custard body wash, it is so much more than just your standard body wash, my skin is quite dry but I could see it working just as well as on all skin types. I can’t get over how amazing it makes my skin feel. You really do have to grab a pot while it’s still available.
