Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel from Lush

Up until the release of the Lush Kitchen June 2023 box, Lush’s Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel had never been available in a vegan formula before.

Back when the Lush Kitchen did weekly menus, the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel was always fiercely popular, I’m surprised it took Lush up until subscription box 37 to include it as an item.

Although, the delay is likely to have been caused by the fact that every item included in the subscription boxes are now strictly vegan. I suspect that the delay was because quite a lot of tinkering had to be done to get a vegan version of Yummy Yummy Yummy just right…

Back at the 2016 Lush Creative Showcase there was a tower of the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel stacked high within their Lush Kitchen room. I do miss Lush events, there truly is no other day out like it!

The Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel is a very light pink and shares its scent with the Peeping Santa bubble bar. Its scent is also fairly similar to the one used in the Roller bath bomb and Yummy Mummy shower cream.

I think both Roller and Yummy Mummy are slightly less sweet strawberry scents in comparison to Yummy Yummy Yummy but I can see why so many people say that they are in fact all a part of the same Lush-scent-family.

The Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel is a very watery formula, I recommend giving it a good shake before using it. I was hoping that with it being an all-new vegan formula it would be a little thicker than the old vegetarian version BUT it seems both are just as runny as each other.

Even though the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel is quite thin it’s still a very good shower gel. You have to be careful when you do use it, as it’s quite easy to waste with it being so runny BUT a very small amount goes a long way making it excellent value for money.

Yummy Yummy Yummy contains a long list of ingredients; it has fresh strawberry infusion, fine sea salt and the following essential oils; Bergamot, olibanum, geranium, almond and organic pressed passion seed.

The Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gels captivating scent is best described as just like a bowl of freshly sliced strawberries sprinkled with icing sugar.

The scent of the shower gel quickly fills your bathroom and remains in the air and on your skin, long after you’ve got out of the shower. After use, my skin is left feeling clean, more hydrated, and silky-smooth to the touch.

I am devastated that the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel was only available to customers subscribed to the Lush Kitchen boxes. I feel that now Lush do have it in a vegan formula it would sell really well in stores, maybe it could be a Valentine’s or Mother’s Day item next year? Hint, hint, Lush!

Overall I am very impressed with the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel and I have my fingers crossed that we will see it again soon!

Supernova Bath Bomb from Lush

Another day, another retro Lush product review… Today I will be reviewing the Supernova Bath Bomb. It was most recently available as one of the exclusive items in the May 2023 Lush Kitchen subscription box.

During the old format of the Lush Kitchen’s 3 year reign, the Supernova bath bomb made regular appearances. I’ve been waiting ever since the Lush Kitchen subscription boxes started for it to appear and finally in box 36, it did!

The Supernova bath bomb is bright pink and laced with paper confetti. The confetti makes it similar in design to the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb, although, Supernova has a lot more confetti in and the confetti in it is paper, Dragon’s Eggs confetti is more of a jelly in the water.

Supernova shares its scent with all of the products in the Celebrate scent family. Most recent product releases that share its scent include the Celebrate foaming body scrubTea Party bath bomb and the NEW Golden Pudding bath bomb.

Alongside copious amounts of paper confetti the Supernova bath bomb also contains, sweet wild orange oil, lime oil and wine lees oil. Older versions of it (which I think smelt boozier) contained plenty of cognac oil instead of wine lees.

Lush fragrances are often hard to describe but the Celebrate scent family smells just like its name. A real celebration. The Supernova bath bombs scent is warm and bubbly. The sweet wild orange and lime oils come together giving off a champagne like scent, hence the word ‘celebrate’.

As soon as the Supernova bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water there is an explosion of bright pink foam. As the Supernova bath bomb bobs around the bright pink foam starts to pale and little pieces of confetti begin to burst out of it, spreading out upon the surface of the water.

The Supernova bath bomb is quite a messy bath bomb because of the confetti but it’s not hard to clean away as it dissolves just like the bath bomb, a quick blast of water and it’s like it was never there.

It takes a good 10 minutes for the Supernova bath bomb to fully dissolve. The water left behind is a clear but very bright pink.

I find the hotter the water the quicker and easier it is for the confetti to disappear; I’ve said it’s a little messy in this review but as long as you use it in a clean bath it really isn’t something that should put you off of at least trying it once.

The orange and lime rich scent lasts right up until the last drop of water goes down the plug hole. It does leave my skin a little dryer than I’d like but the scent remains on your skin for several hours after exiting the bath.

If you’re lucky enough to own some Celebrate body lotion and Celebrate body spray, I totally recommended using them both after a Supernova bath. There’s nothing quite like layering up the same Lush scents from different products!

Overall, I do really like the Supernova bath bomb, it’s a fun take on a bath bomb equivalent of a celebration. It’s not my favourite Celebrate scented bath bomb but one I enjoy, nonetheless.

Hot Java Bath Bomb from Lush

My favourite thing about the Lush Kitchen is that it gives Lush customers the chance to try long-forgotten, discontinued products from Lush’s product archive. I first got into Lush because I was looking for non-medicinal ways to help me deal with chronic pain. After a little research into ingredients and what-not, the Hot Java Bath Bomb was one of the first products on my list that I wanted to try.

Years later, Hot Java is still one of my favourites purely for how it soothes my aching muscles. Sadly, with the closure of the weekly-Lush-Kitchen in 2017, I had to get used to the fact that we’d probably never get the chance to purchase it separately again. BUT in 2020, the Lush Kitchen made a return in the form of a monthly subscription service, and I have remained hopeful that the Hot Java bath bomb would make an appearance sometime.

Finally in the 18th Lush Kitchen subscription box, the Hot Java bath bomb was included! Its scent doesn’t feature in any other Lush product but because of its spicy nature, a lot of people compare it to the likes of the Hot Toddy shower gel.

The Hot Java bath bomb is the standard shape and size Lush bath bomb but is quite unique to look at, it’s a dusty red colour and decorated with flakes of cinnamon-stick. These flakes of cinnamon-stick continue inside of the bath bomb which I’ll touch upon again later.

Alongside the cinnamon-stick flakes the Hot Java bath bomb also includes cinnamon and ginger powders, ginger absolute, and the following essential oils; Ginger, coriander, ylang ylang and juniperberry. My nose picks up mostly on the ginger element of the Hot Java bath bomb, it’s not a scent I’d describe as pleasantly moreish but it’s one I don’t mind because I know how good each ingredient in it is for soothing aching muscles.

As soon as you place the Hot Java bath bomb into your bath water you are greeted with an explosion and gentle hiss of small red bubbles, it’s a fairly fast fizzer and within the first few seconds the flakes of cinnamon stick start to scatter across the water too, slowly but surely, sinking to the bottom of your tub. Sadly, these flakes are a huge factor as to why so many customers don’t enjoy using the Hot Java bath bomb.

Yes, the Cinnamon flakes do create quite a mess BUT when soaked with the hot bath water it really does make for a toasty-warm bathing experience like no other.

As I said earlier, the Hot Java bath bomb is a very quick fizzer, fully dissolving in just under 4 minutes. I can’t help but wonder if it would sell better if it was in a muslin cloth like the Deep Sleep and Love Me Do bath bomb are. This would stop all of the cinnamon pieces from making a mess, keeping them all in one place while you still get the benefit of the cinnamon stick being soaked in the hot water.

The bits don’t bother me much, but I know they can make or break a bath bomb for some people.

Overall, I am a fan of the Hot Java bath bomb, it could maybe have a few things about it tweaked to make it more desirable for all but if I’m looking at it from a perspective where I just want a bath that will warm me up and help relax my tired muscles, it’s perfect. There’s just something about the blend of cinnamon and ginger that makes me feel like I’m being massaged by lots of tiny little hands…

If you look through Instagram under the hashtag #HotJavaBathBomb you can see that the bath bomb is either a huge hit or miss with customers. Back in the day, when it came up on the Lush Kitchen menu some customers would bulk buy them, worried that they wouldn’t be available again for a very long time.

I do miss the older Lush Kitchen purely because the subscription box only allows you 1 of each item BUT I really did appreciate getting to use Hot Java once again thanks to the Lush Kitchen subscription box!
