Butterball Shower Gel from Lush

img_8652
Regrettably I only got into the Butterball products last year (2016). I am now however well and truly making up for it as every time a Butterball product becomes available I snap it up.

The Butterball Shower Gel is the thickest shower gel I have tried from Lush Cosmetics. Its consistency resembles more of a shower cream. It is however, much stockier than Lush shower creams, I can completely understand why some confuse it with a body butter or shower smoothie.

The Butterball shower gel shares its scent with the Butterball bath bomb. In my opinion they aren’t exactly the same, the shower gel is a lot more chocolatey than the bath bomb equivalent. Despite this, both are products I like and would recommend.bbb123The Butterball scent always reminds me of Christmas, this is because of the Butterbear bath bomb. Butterbear is identical to the Butterball bath bomb the only difference being its shape and weight. For the last few years Butterbear has been a very popular Christmas-time Lush product, it was the first product I tried in the Butterball scent and I guess this is why I associate the scent with Christmas.

I find that the smallest blob of the shower gel goes a very long way especially when used alongside hot-as-you-can-stand-it water.

My skin adores Butterball and because of this I always go back for seconds. If I have used the shower gel I do not need to moisturise after getting out of the shower or bath. It leaves my skin perfectly hydrated, soft and smelling of chocolate chip, shortbread biscuits.butterball group.pngMy other half seems to like it a lot too, he would never admit it but I can always tell when he does take a shine to one of my shower gels, they run out at such a ridiculous rate when he does. I know I said I go back for seconds when it comes to the Butterball shower gel but I honestly use such a small amount as it’s all you need.

He has no idea of how precious some Lush products are, Butterball is only available in the Lush Kitchen so I can’t just grab another bottle, he isn’t even that much bigger than me yet in just one shower he manages to use triple the amount I would do. He obviously can’t get enough of it, I think it is one of his secret favourites for sure.

The last thing I’d like to point out is how versatile Butterball shower gel is, it works well alongside so many other Lush products making it a very good ingredient to add to any Lush cocktails you may have in mind. It is because of this, its beautiful scent and its skin loving ingredients that makes the Butterball shower gel an essential product in my bathroom.

Jingle Spells Bath Bomb from Lush

jingle-spells-bath-bomb

The Jingle Spells Bath Bomb was one I had been desperately in search of for what seemed like an eternity. Every time it came up in the Lush Kitchen it managed to fall on a part of the month where I didn’t have the luxury of being able to treat myself, my luck however changed almost 4 weeks ago as I managed to grab a few.

What first attracted me to this bath bomb was how it looks. Before I had it in my hands, I had no idea what it smelt like. All I could do was look at photos of it on my laptop or phone. I was of course instantly seduced by its colour. As you can see from the photos featured in this review, Jingle Spells is the most beautiful shade of purple adding to its design is a very light dusting of gold and white stars on it’s top.

To look at, Jingle Spell reminds me of the old version of the Northern Lights bath bomb, both in colour and in regard to the scattered star decorations. Online I have seen a few people compare it to the Blackberry bath bomb, after using it I can’t put my finger on why it has been compared to it, other than maybe its colour I can’t see or smell anything that makes them alike.

The Jingle Spells bath bomb shares its scent with the Wizard bubble bar. It is very different from anything I’ve used from Lush before. The fennel oil within it gives it a sweet yet spicy edge. Alongside the fennel oil is a splash of tangerine and juniperberry oils too, altogether these ingredients give the Jingle Spells bath bomb a slight fruity, warming and woody scent. The only other way I can think of describing its scent is with the words warm and magical.

As soon as the Jingle Spells bath bomb hits the bath water a feeling of relaxation hits you. The scent intensifies slightly as the bath bomb floats and fizzes away. It isn’t long until you start to feel super relaxed, normally it takes me a few minutes to start to notice a difference but, I was ready for bed before the bath bomb had even finished dissolving.

Was the Jingle Spells bath bomb worth the wait? Yes! It wasn’t as theatrical as the likes of the Intergalactic or Fizzbanger bath bomb, but it’s warming and relaxing scent got me so chilled out in such a small amount of time that I could look past any lack of potential bath art.

The oils in Jingle Spells make the bath water silky smooth, if my skin could speak it would be sending Jingle Spells a whole lot of praise. Not only does it feel fabulous on your skin, but its gorgeous scent also remains with you hours and hours after getting out of the bath.

Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved the light dusting of stars float to the top of the bath water and although this isn’t colourful like the above-mentioned bath bombs, I loved it.

Sometimes less really is more. I’d love for Lush to bring out a body lotion with this scent, I think I’d sleep peacefully for a week after using it!

Melomint Bubble Bar from Lush

Whenever a product with peppermint in becomes available I snap it up. I wouldn’t say that peppermint was one of my most favourite scents, it however works wonders on the dreaded feeling of nausea which is a common side effect for me because of the medication I have to take.

My go to minty products are normally the Mask of Magnaminty face and body mask and the Intergalactic bath bomb. When I am however lucky and the Lush Kitchen have blessed us with one of their wonderful menus I also love the Magic and Abombinaball bath bombs.

All of the above go beautifully with the Melomint Bubble Bar. To look at, Melomint clearly resembles a watermelon slice. At first I thought great, I love watermelon! Its design and colours are however misleading… Melomint is not a fruity product at all, it’s minty through and through.

The only clearly, noticeable connection between it and a watermelon is its design. I  do however feel that the Melomint bubble bar is super refreshing. Both while I am in the bath with it and when I also get out. I just feel so, so refreshed and that feeling really reminds me of how my mouth feels after eating a watermelon. Call me crazy, I don’t mind… It’s just how the bubble bar makes me feel. Clean, rebooted and as fresh as a daisy.

The Melomint bubble bar doesn’t smell strictly of peppermint either. It also has spearmint in it, this gives it a softer minty edge making it a very gentle mint. Although the peppermint is probably the strongest of its ingredients scent wise, you can also detect a tiny layer of cypress oil. This ingredient adds a slight earthy tone to its scent and is a key ingredient as it calms your senses and also tones your skin.

Nine times out of ten I normally say in my Lush reviews that a little of the product goes a long way. I am however always honest and that rule doesn’t apply to every Lush product. Some do not share well, while others do but I find them best enjoyed in full.

If you want an invigorating and energizing bath use as much of the Melomint as you can bear to part with for one bath. I find that I can really enjoy Melomint to the best of its ability over 2 baths, although using the whole thing leaves me flying in minty heaven. It not only freshens and hydrates my skin but also clears my head.

A quarter of it DOES give me enough bubbles for a fabulous bath I am just permanently tired so I find the more Melomint the better, it wakes you up just as good as a very large cup of coffee!
