Avocado Wash Shower Gel from Lush

Avocado Wash Shower Gel

As soon as I heard that the Avocado Wash Shower Gel was a part of this years Lush Valentine’s Day range I ordered the biggest bottle available. I hate to give the game away so early on in a review but this shower gel is quite simply, gorgeous! When the shower gel first came out as a Kitchen exclusive last year (2018) I only ordered one bottle and after first use I instantly regretted not ordering several more.

I left my one and only bottle of Avocado Wash shower gel on my bathroom shelf; BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. The second time I grabbed it ready to use I was horrified to discover that the shower gel bottle was half empty. I had only used it once so knew exactly who to blame for its sudden and rapid disappearance – my husband. He is a glass half full kind of person whereas I am a glass half empty one.

I was not impressed. Luckily a few days later more of the shower gels became available on the Lush website, my husband ordered 3 more bottles to say sorry for being so selfish and greedy. I forgave him but am still a little bit mad that he’d used up half of a bottle over just 3 showers, it’s such a waste of product. I’m known to over indulge with Lush but my husband took it to the next level!

I want to warn everyone about this shower gels addictiveness, a little of this shower gel does in fact go a very long way and there really is no reason other than being driven completely crazy by its irresistible scent, to use as much as my husband did in such a short space of time.

The Avocado Wash shower gel shares its scent with the Avocado Co-Wash shampoo and conditioner. Its scent has always been one that I have liked but unfortunately the shampoo and conditioner doesn’t suit my hair so I only ever tried it the one time. I was therefore over the moon at the prospect of a shower gel equivalent.

The Avocado Wash shower gel contains copious amounts of fresh avocado, uplifting bergamot, refreshing litsea cubeba and the comforting olibanum oil too. It’s the perfect blend of ingredients if you’re running a little low on energy or sass, there is just something so rejuvenating about it. Its scent is one of the most refreshing and awakening fruity scents Lush have made and I’m so excited that they’ve recently released several more Avocado Wash scented products that I will be reviewing very soon.

Consistency wise the Avocado Wash shower gel is a little runny but this isn’t a negative aspect at all, I actually prefer the runnier shower gels in comparison to the thicker ones. As I mentioned earlier, a little of this shower gel does go a very long way. This makes it excellent value for money (unless you live with my husband of course).

The one thing I do recommend that you do before using the Avocado Wash shower gel is giving it a good shake, like the, The Olive Branch shower gel its ingredients separate when left for too long. This is completely normal but is often mistaken as a sign of the product being out of date. In fact Avocado Wash shower gel is self-preserving so quite the opposite!

I find Avocado Wash shower gel incredibly hydrating, it leaves my skin silky smooth, bright and revitalised. Its scent can also be smelt on my skin long after using it which is a huge plus for me. It would have been a crime to leave this shower gel as only a Lush Kitchen exclusive, I’m so glad that it’s become available again even if it is only for  Valentine’s.

Calacas Body Spray from Lush

Calacas Body Spray.pngThe Calacas scent happens to be one of my most favourite Lush scents of all time. My first experience with a Calacas scented product was when I ordered the shower gel of the same name. I fell hopelessly in love after just one use and just like that, my Lush-lifes mission became trying anything and every thing Calacas scented.

I have been putting in requests to Lush for a Calacas perfume for what feels like an eternity, it has been my most wanted product for well over 5 years now. On the 1st of December 2018 Lush finally came through. The Lush Kitchen made a Calacas Body Spray!

Although I had always wished for Calacas to be released in the perfume format, I was more than happy to see that it was only being made into body spray. I find that the body sprays last so much longer than the liquid perfumes, they also go further and are much better value for money.

The Calacas body spray scent is to die for and funnily enough is inspired by the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead is celebrated throughout Mexico during the last week of October and first few days of November (Halloween). It is a celebration in honour of family and friends who are no longer with them.

With its lime, frankincense and neroli ingredients the Calacas scent is a sharp and zesty mood boosting fragrance, some even joke it’s so zingy it could wake the dead!

The Calacas scent is hugely popular within the Lush community and it has been replicated into many different product formats. Sometimes even though 2 different products are from the same scent family, their scent can differ slightly because they are different formats. With the Calacas scent I don’t see (or should I say sniff) much difference between the product formats at all, last years Man in the Moon bubble bar has exactly the same Calacas scent as the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb.

I was therefore a little surprised when I smelt the Calacas body spray for the first time…

The difference in scent between the body spray and other Calacas scented products is very subtle and not so different that I dislike it. I am as a matter of fact loving the Calacas in a liquid format, it’s so much fresher and even more zingy than any other Calacas scented product I have tried before.

Most importantly though, the Calacas body spray isn’t super-duper strong, it’s just right. One spritz on my clothes leaves me smelling of sweet and zingy Calacas all day. I have also sprayed it on my dressing gown and 3 days later the beautiful Calacas scent is still detectable!

Another thing I like to do with it is spritz it once on the ends of my hair. Several people have asked me what shampoo I use as my hair smells so lovely. Overall I am over the moon with this body spray. It and my So White body sprays are now on my dresser pride of place.

Tender is the Night Bath Bomb from Lush

Tender is the Night Bath Bomb

One of the very first products I bought from Lush was the Tender is the Night massage bar. Its scent has great sentimental value to me as it always reminds me of my first trip into a Lush shop. On that day, my addiction and journey with Lush began. – I mentioned in a previous review of the Harajuku bath bomb about the new Japanese superstore that opened earlier this month. The Tender is the Night Bath Bomb is just one of the products exclusively available from that store.

Luckily for everyone that can’t get to Tokyo, the Lush Kitchen released 12 of the bath bombs online giving the rest of the world access to purchase them too. As of the 13th of December several of the 12 bath bombs were also made available to purchase from a few of the Lush Spa stores too. Sadly these won’t be permanent fixtures to the stores, once they’ve sold out, they won’t be coming back.

When all of the new Harajuku store bath bombs were showcased on social media the Tender is the Night bath bomb was the one that I desired the most. Packed with all of the same ingredients as the aforementioned massage bar, the Tender is the Night bath bomb is a Lush-dream come true for me.

Its scent is a beautifully subtle, floral-sweet mix of vanilla, jasmine and ylang ylang oil. I find it incredibly relaxing, I’d love to see this bath bomb become a part of Lush’s Valentine’s Day 2019 range as its scent reflects romance and love perfectly. Matched up with the massage bar and the Tender is the Night naked shower cream they would make the ultimate Valentine trio!

As soon as the Tender is the Night bath bomb touches the water an array of soft pink and creamy white bubbles fizzles out of it. As the bath bomb bobs around the waters surface it creates delicate swirls of pinks and whites while turning the bath water a most-welcoming shade of pink.

What pleased me the most about the Tender is the Night bath bomb was how its scent lasted both through out the bath and on my skin, I could still smell it on me well into the next day. The bath bomb made the water silky smooth too, my skin lapped it up. I got out of the bath not only smelling delicious but also with soft, well hydrated and bright skin.

I thoroughly enjoyed using the Tender is the Night bath bomb, I’m going to be bold and say that it is probably one of my favourite bath bombs of all time. It wasn’t particularly good from a bath art perspective but wow does it smell and leave me feeling good.

I have fallen head over heels in love with the Tender is the Night scent all over again thanks to this beautiful bath bomb. I am at a loss as to why Lush hadn’t made this amazing bath bomb before now, it’s gorgeous. I admit that the price is a bit high but that’s because of its vanilla ingredient. I do however believe that it’s worth every penny and out of all of the exclusive bath bombs, Tender is the Night is the only bath bomb that I ordered more of, straight after using it. It’s a must have!
