Granny Takes A Dip Bubble Bar from Lush

Have you tried the @Lushltd @LushCosmetics Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar yet? here’s my review!

Granny Takes A Dip Bubble Bar

The Granny Takes A Dip Bubble Bar was released back in 2015 as a Lush Oxford Street, flagship store exclusive. Since its original release the Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar is now available everywhere.

Prior to the release of the Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar, it was actually a bath bomb. (Click here for my Granny Takes A Dip Bath Bomb review)

Last year, Lush decided to retire the bath bomb version making way for other new products. I do miss the Granny Takes A Dip bath bomb however the bubble bar is a somewhat worthy replacement.

The Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar shares its scent with the retired bath bomb. For the bath bomb super-fans this made the blow of taking it away a little softer.

As you can see from the photos the bubble bar is very bright and cheery. Its scent really is unique, packed with lemon, ginger and pepper oil it’s both zingy and spicy. Comparing the bath bomb and the bubble bar I find that the bubble bar is a tad more refreshing in the bath tub.

In the above picture I am about to use half of a Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar for one bath.

Half of it makes plenty of bubbles, I’d actually go as far as to say that you could easily get 4 fairly decent baths out of just one bubble bar.

I am always honest in my reviews, I do like the Granny Takes A Dip bubble bar however I feel that the bath bomb was just that little bit better.

With the bubble bar you still get the full effect of its beautiful scent, it just isn’t as visually theatrical in the water. I didn’t realise until I had used my very last Granny Takes A Dip bath bomb quite how fond of the exciting colours I was.

My skin after using the bubble bar was equally as soft and refreshed as the bath bomb used to leave me.

I know quite a lot of people have pointed out that the colour of the water after using the bubble bar is rather dull. I actually disagree with this, although it’s not quite on par as others for brightness sometimes something a little more gentle is a good thing.

I have got through several Granny Takes A Dip bubble bars since its release last year so it’s more than obvious how I feel about it. It’s the perfect accompaniment for an exciting Lush bath cocktail.

Fizzbanger Bath Bomb from Lush

The Fizzbanger Bath Bomb has long been one of my favourite Lush bath bombs, at the time of writing this review it is a part of the all-year-round range. If it was ever discontinued, I’d be a very sad Lushie…

The Fizzbanger bath bomb was inspired by the Roald Dahl book, The BFG. Growing up the BFG was one of my favourite books and Roald Dahl to this day is one of my favourite authors, even as an adult I love to go back and read his work.

Funnily enough, I associate a lot of Lush things with Roald Dahl; for example, the Lush Factory is right up there with Willy Wonker’s Chocolate Factory as one of my dream destinations.

The Fizzbanger bath bomb is the standard shaped Lush bath bomb and is bright yellow. Upon first sight the Fizzbanger bath bomb is quite plain in comparison to the other staple Lush bath bombs BUT looks can be deceiving…

Looking at the Fizzbanger bath bomb surrounded by all the other Lush bath bombs such as Frozen and Guardian of the Forest it is easy to see why it could be overlooked. Other bath bombs are much more heavily decorated whereas the Fizzbanger is all round with only one visible colour.

It is not until you place the Fizzbanger bath bomb into your bath water that you see and smell its true potential. It is described on Lush’s website as ‘a Catherine wheel of a bath bomb’ and that’s exactly what it is!

The Fizzbanger bath bomb contains popping candy, cinnamon leaf oil, petitgrain oil, ylang ylang oil and oak moss extract.

Created to have individual scented layers, the Fizzbanger is a feast for your nose as well as your skin. A lot of people wrongly assume that the Fizzbanger is lemon scented because of its colour, the scent is however more like an apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Delicious!

At first the Fizzbanger bath bomb creates a mound of yellow foam. Once the yellow, foamy explosion spreads itself around the bath a fleck of the Fizzbangers hidden blue interior makes an appearance.

Once the yellow, foam explosion begins to spread itself out a fleck of Fizzbanger’s blue interior makes an appearance. It slowly spins around the water creating blue and yellow lines until the very-middle of the bath bomb reveals itself. Inside is a paper-cut-out BANG surprise, similar to the hidden paper-insert found in the Blackberry bath bomb.

The bath art created by the Fizzbanger bath bomb is INCREDIBLE. The photos in this blog review do the bath bomb no justice at all. It doesn’t take very long after the paper insert makes an appearance for the popping candy to start crackling away.

Petitgrain oil (the supposed primary citrus scent that I think is completely masked by the cinnamon and baked apple scent in Fizzbanger) makes Fizzbanger a good choice of a bath partner if you’re in need of a pick-me-up.

Petitgrain oil is often used within aromatherapy becauseof its calming properties, it known to help reduce the feeling of anxiety and put alongside ylang ylang and cinnamon leaf oil makes the Fizzbanger bath bomb a truly joyful and relaxing bath time treat.

As the blue interior begins to show, the Fizzbanger bath bomb starts to spin making the most beautiful swirly blue and yellow patterns. It moves so quickly, it’s almost impossible to get a clear shot of.

At the end you are left with yellow and blue bubbles sitting on the surface of your bath water. Underneath is the most striking, electric green water, infused with skin softening essential oils that are relaxing for mind, body and soul.

I prefer to use a Fizzbanger bath bomb during the day/in the morning as I find it really awakens my senses if I’ve had a restless night before hand.

I was actually trolled by somebody a couple of years ago on Facebook when I mentioned that Fizzbanger was a good day time bath bomb. What a thing to troll someone about? It just goes to show that not everyone knows the benefits of each essential oil! If every bath bomb ingredient made you sleepy, they wouldn’t be nearly as interesting to use.

Apparently, I need to do more ‘productive things’ with my day other than ‘just bathing’. (Sorry I’m sat here laughing at the thought of me spending all day, every day in the bath… I’m clearly living the dream! and I’m not very wrinkly? maybe I’m part fish or a mermaid?

I have 2 incredibly painful medical conditions that have left me disabled, bathing in hot water helps ease this pain, without this pain relief productiveness of any kind wouldn’t exist in any part of my day (and I would have never found Lush!)

Let’s end this review with a message, if you feel the urge to write a nasty message to a stranger on the internet maybe try this bath bomb instead? 😊

Lush baths have helped me no end, if I need a boost to get through the rest of the day Fizzbanger is my go-to bath bomb.

Its scent is delicious and as for the visual theatrics of it while it fizzles away (popping candy too) it couldn’t be any more spectacular!

Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb from Lush

 luxury-lush-pud-bath-bomb
I was literally so, so excited when the Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb was released again last Winter. Regrettably I never had, had the chance to try it in years previous. I am so glad that they brought it back for Winter 2015 and pray that it comes back again this Winter.

Packed with Lavender Oil and Tonka Absolute, the Luxury Lush Pud is perfect for winding down on a cold winters night. Sharing its scent with my very first Lush bath bomb, Twilight  I just couldn’t wait to get hold of one to try.

If you’re a Twilight fan then you will love this bath bomb to the moon and back, I like to refer to it as the Twilight bath bomb’s cool auntie.

After a stressful day a Luxury Lush Pud bath is all you need. Containing tonka absolute and lavender oil, Lush describe the Luxury Lush Pud as the ‘perfect dessert for your skin’.

Its cocktail of various essential oils are perfect at helping you wind down after a long, hard day. The scent itself stays with you throughout the evening and even lasts on your skin for most of the next day. Not only do you benefit from its beautifully subtle scent hours and hours after using it, you also get soft, smooth and gloriously hydrated skin.

As soon as the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb is put in the bath water the show of colours and relaxing, lavender and tonka scent begin to work their magic. Colour-wise I think the Luxury Lush Pud is the best out there. The likes of The Experimenter and Intergalactic are close seconds but the Luxury Lush Pud is hands down the best.

There is something so enchanting about the Luxury Lush Pud, the photos speak for themselves. It is a very slow fizzer which is all the better as I always manage to get such an amazing amount of photos whenever I use it.

Blue, green, yellow, pink and orange galore it is more than mesmerising. No matter how many times I use it, I can’t help but take some photos.

Even once all of the bath bomb has dissolved you are still surrounded with pretty streaks of rainbow colour. I can never bring myself to get out until it’s got so cold that I HAVE to. It is just so relaxing. Your mind, body and soul feel so soothed, it is like you soak up all of its magic, it is paradise in a bath tub.

I cannot even put into words how essential this bath bomb is for my life. I am and always will stock up on the Luxury Lush Pud every Winter from now on. That is providing they bring it back for Winter 2016?! I am however pretty confident that they will.

Please note that this post was originally posted on this website on the 7th of October 2015. I have updated each post on this blog several times as with time my photos have got better as has my product knowledge. Lulu @ Lush Upon A Time
