The Mother of Pearl Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited edition product from Lush’s 2021 Mother’s Day collection. As its name suggests, the Mother of Pearl bath bomb is designed to look just like a fresh water pearl. Every last detail of a pearl has been captured and crafted into this truly beautiful bath bomb, even its outer layer is a true representation of a pearls pearlescent finish.
The Mother of Pearl bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients; Lush have blended ylang ylang, vanilla absolute, benzoin resinoid, borage, hibiscus seed and organic rose hip oils to create a brand new scent family. Described as an ‘orchid-scented, delicate floral fragrance’ on Lush’s website I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one.
If you’re a fan of the softer, less in-your-face Lush products such as the Sakura or Avobath bath bombs then the Mother of Pearl bath bomb would be a good choice for you. It’s a very simple bath bomb but I’ve said this before and I’m going to say this again now, sometimes less really is more, especially when it comes to Lush.
What the Mother of Pearl bath bomb lacks in bath art, it well makes up for in how it transforms your bath water into a pool of silky soft, super creamy and milky coloured waters.
As soon as the Mother of Pearl bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water, it begins to slowly fizzle away. Inside the Mother of Pearl is a hidden layer of oils making this a real treat for your skin. Its gentle, orchid fragrance slowly fills your bathroom as the bath bomb dissolves.
Prior to using the Mother of Pearl bath bomb I wasn’t expecting much from it at all, I knew there wouldn’t be any bath art yet when I got round to trying it, I was still completely mesmerised by its beauty, I was just as captivated as I would be with a bright and colourful bath bomb.
There’s just something so refreshing and heavenly about the pearlescent white colour of the Mother of Pearl bath bomb.
Once the Mother of Pearl bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with silky, pearly-white bath water. The hidden oils and butters within it subtly soothe your skin, it’s not super oily either, skin-hydration wise it’s just right. The Mother of Pearl bath bomb is the perfect product to help your dry, Winter battered skin, adjust to the (not much warmer but warmer) Spring weather.
Overall I really enjoyed using the Mother of Pearl bath bomb, so much so I ordered a few more straight after using it. I’ll be very sad to see this bath bomb retire once the Mother’s Day holiday is over. I hope to see this little gem return for Mother’s Day year in, year out.
