Roller Bath Bomb from Lush

The Roller Bath Bomb was released back in February 2016 as an Oxford Street, Mother’s Day exclusive. My birthday is in February and in aid of it, I had booked to visit the flagship store as Oxford Street is quite literally the best Lush store in the universe.

I had, had a cheeky Synaesthesia treatment with all thanks to Lush and was eager to kill 2 birds with one stone by also doing a little bit of shopping after it, focusing on the Oxford Street exclusives from 2016’s Valentine’s and Mother’s Day range. Unfortunately the Roller bath bomb had been held back on its release and it was the only product I didn’t manage to get hold of that day.

I was born in London and had lived there for 24 years before moving to North Yorkshire for a quieter, better life.

If I had known about the flagship store opening almost directly opposite to where I once worked, I often wonder if I would have moved over 200 miles away? Luckily living so far away isn’t too much of a heartache as I have family and friends in London. My sister-in-law lives a short bus ride away from the flagship store and she goes above and beyond with her sister-in-law duties and picks me stuff up from there all the time. She’s a diamond, you should all be insanely jealous.

Of course while running my Lush errands she has also become a hardcore Lushie, which was inevitable as all Lush stores have a contagious atmosphere, especially Lush Oxford Street!

Although I was a bit late to the Roller bath bomb party as it had sold out almost as soon as it was restocked several times, I finally got hold of some of my own and I have honestly never experienced a bath bomb quite like it.

The Roller bath bomb is completely unique to any other Lush bath bomb I have had before.

It is actually part bath bomb, part bath melt. The top half of Roller is dipped in a waxy-like purple melt, while it’s bottom half is the standard bath-bomb-formula that we are all used to getting from Lush.

At first I wasn’t sure of the Roller bath bomb. It looked and smelt fantastic, I am however not a fan of any bath products that are too oily because I am not steady on my feet. I already require assistance to get in and out of the bath and don’t want to over-complicate things.

Roller is however in my opinion, the perfect balance of both bath bomb and bath melt. It’s formula always leaves my skin the softest it has ever felt, I also didn’t feel like an over oiled engine part as I had feared.

It’s as if my skin soaked up all of the Roller’s goodness, conditioning my skin into the best I have ever seen or felt it.

The Roller bath bomb shares it’s scent with the Yummy Mummy Shower Cream that was also released earlier this year for Mother’s Day, it was however not an Oxford Street exclusive as it was available everywhere for a short period. I hope they bring it back next year as it is perfection in shower cream form. If you’d like to read my review on it click the link above.

The Yummy Mummy scent is a strawberry fans idea of heaven, the Roller bath bomb makes for a very delightful, strawberry-cream, bath time delicacy.

When the Roller bath bomb first hits the water it’s purple-melt-half floats just below the water surface, with it’s white side just above. it slowly froths up, spreading sweet and fruity scented foam around your bathtub.

It then slowly starts to spin, so that the purple side is now sometimes in vision. Slowly but surely the Roller bath bomb decorates your bath water with streaks of white, purple, blue, aqua green and pink swirls.

After some time the Roller bath bomb appears to break into two white pieces. Even though the Roller is now in half, it still carries on making the most gorgeous patterns of breathtaking colours.

I don’t normally include so many photographs in my Lush reviews but can you blame me for not wanting to miss a single moment of this precious bath bomb?

Whenever the Roller bath bomb becomes available to buy I strongly recommend you grab as many as you can. Actually scratch that… Don’t buy any at all, that way I can buy them all for myself!

Humpty Dumpty Bath Bomb from Lush

‘HUMPTY DUMPTY FELT A SHARP WHACK, HUMPTY DUMPTY HEARD A GREAT CRACK. ALL THE KING’S HORSES AND ALL THE KING’S STAFF FOLLOWED SWEET HUMPTY STRAIGHT INTO THE BATH…’

The wording above isn’t quite the same as the nursery rhyme you will remember from your childhood BUT I think I might just like this Lush-version a little bit more. It could actually be written about me.

As a sufferer of EDS I’m always losing balance and getting ‘sharp whacks’, I also always hear ‘great cracks’… Which is mostly my joints moaning that I’ve moved them too fast or too far, ha, ha… As for always being in the bath, it’s no secret. I am a loud and proud bath addict, it’s how I keep productive 😉

With so much in common me and Humpty Dumpty where obviously meant to be!

The Humpty Dumpty bath bomb was a part of the 2016 Lush Easter range and was quite the size.

The idea behind the bigger Easter bath bombs is that you crack the egg (bath bomb) in half (just like you would an Easter egg) and inside is a surprise… A miniature bath bomb in the shape of a fried egg!

Once you can get to the fried egg insert you should have 3 pieces of bath bomb that you can share between 3 baths. That is unless you are greedy like me and just end up chucking them all in together…

All pieces of the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb are Honey I Washed the Kids scented. Honey I Washed the Kids is one of Lush’s most famous scents. It can be found in a number of their products all year through. The Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar is probably my favourite out of all of the every day range products that share its scent.

The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is very sweet, I can pick out honey, toffee and hints of gooey caramel… It however isn’t at all sickly. When I first got into Lush I was really worried that I wouldn’t like anything from the Honey I Washed the Kids family, I could see so many products sharing the scent and was concerned as most sweet scents I just can’t hack.

I have never had much of a sweet tooth and my preferred tastes are the same as my preferred scents. The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is however one of my favourites as it’s sweet but not sickly. I now always jump to try any of the Lush products associated with it.

Although the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb is huge, it doesn’t take long to fizz away once it comes in to contact with your bath water. This is the reason I always end up putting the 3 separate pieces in all at once.

Comparing the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb to other Honey I Washed the Kids scented bath bombs, I do favour the alternatives. The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb appeals to me more as it’s a slow fizzer and its scents has more throw.

Humpty Dumpty is a lovely Easter bath bomb, I however only had 2 from this years range as I found it more of a novelty product than anything else. If it does come back next year I think I will buy it again but not for myself, I’d get it for my nieces and nephews as an alternative to a chocolate Easter Egg. I like to get them something a little bit different than everyone else and they all love bath time so it’s perfect for them as a treat.

Cyanide Pill Bath Bomb from Lush

The first thing that entered my head when I heard about Lush’s Cyanide Pill Bath Bomb was, what the hell, CYANIDE?!

I left school 10 years ago now but I do remember learning a little bit about cyanide poisoning in history. Please do not expect this post to be a recap of my knowledge on all things historical. I got a D in my history GCSE which was actually my lowest grade, I’m not at all confident delving into the who, what’s and where’s of the original cyanide pill but I feel a brief introduction is needed within my review of this strange but very alluring bath bomb.

A cyanide pill is more commonly know as the suicide pill. During World War II they were developed and given to agents who were entering enemy territory. Unfortunately there was every chance that the agents would be captured and tortured for information. The ‘suicide pill’ sat in their mouth and was cleverly disguised as a false tooth.

Someone wishing to activate the cyanide pill would only need to bite down on it. Filled with a highly toxic compound of concentrated potassium cyanide, death was supposedly very quick and a much better alternative for those that would have been put through the most despicable levels of torture.

Do not panic! The bath bomb equivalent of the cyanide pill is a lot more friendly than its original pill form.

As soon as the Cyanide Pill bath bomb hits the water, yellow and white frothy bubbles appear. You are immediately hit with a strong scent of sweet almonds alongside a light but noticeable fragrance of lemon zest.

The Cyanide Pill bath bomb isn’t as big as other bath bombs, I have seen people online stating that they think it’s a lot bigger than they imagined, I however disagree. I find it very small in comparison to others. I have however learnt that size is not a characteristic that makes a Lush product any better than others. Good things come in all shapes and sizes!

The Cyanide Pill bath bomb was one of the Lush products that was exclusive to Lush Oxford Street when it first opened a little over a year ago. It is still an Oxford Street exclusive so is quite hard to get hold of.

When I very first used this bath bomb I was completely unaware of the silver and pink that is found inside of it.

As seen in the above and below picture, the silver mixed with the yellow, left an abundance of beautifully decorated bubbles floating on top of my bath water.

Another surprise that the Cyanide Pill bath bomb has is the ingredients of popping candy!

Despite the sad and rather disturbing story behind how the Cyanide Pill first came about, I can’t help but really like the concept that Lush have come up with in this bath bomb. It is not only a highly moisturising product that creates the most beautiful of baths, it also helps teach another generation things long forgotten about.

I love how each and every Lush product has a meaning. Someone doesn’t ever say ‘ooo let’s mix lemon and almond oil together, just because!’

Every last aspect of a Lush product is carefully picked and designed. Be that a Lush products scent, ingredients, shape or colours, Lush consider and think about everything. Everything has a valid reason for being a part of that Lush product. Almond oil as a main ingredient wasn’t used within the Cyanide Pill bath bomb because it ‘smells nice,’ real cyanide supposedly tastes just like almonds! Eeek!

Every last detail is thought about within a Lush product. I am sad that the people behind all of the research and reasons of a Lush product do not get more credit, they do such an amazing job capturing and portraying an idea into an enjoyable and popular cosmetic product.

If you do ever get the chance to try a Cyanide Pill bath bomb I am positive that you’ll love it, grab a few while you can, Lush products have an awful habit of going into retirement… 😉
