Avobath Bath Bomb from Lush

When I am completely zonked by fatigue or need a bit of a boost, my go-to Lush product is the Avobath Bath Bomb. I’ll admit that it’s not the most visually pleasing bath bomb that Lush have created, I would however advise you to look past this as there is so much more to a bath bomb than how it looks, beauty is not always about what you can visually see!

What the Avobath bath bomb lacks visually is well made up for with everything else about it. Its carefully selected ingredients make for one very hydrating, refreshing and uplifting bath. It not only awakens every single one of your senses but also leaves your skin feeling soft, well soothed and looking fabulous.

*This is what the Avobath bath bomb looked like prior to its reshape in 2021, all of the other photos of the Avobath bath bomb in this review are of its (as of 2021) new shape*

The idea that baths are strictly a night time, just-before-bed activity is a myth. YES, that’s right, there’s no truth in it, if you want a bath first thing in the morning or even at 2 in the afternoon, GO FOR IT! Bath Bombs don’t all have the same ingredients in and not every ingredient in a bath bomb makes you sleepy. I am explaining this as there are so many people out there that don’t know about essential oils and what properties and benefits each one has on us when used.

The Avobath is a brilliant bath bomb to use if you’re feeling tired and want to wake yourself up. It has a fantastically zingy, citrus fruit scent which really helps me fight the fatigue. If you’re unable to drink caffeine like me, an Avobath soak is the next best thing!

As I said above, you’re not going to get any bath art out of the Avobath bath bomb. It’s a very quick fizzer, which isn’t a bad thing if you just want to lie back basking in all of its glory without much delay!

As soon as Avobath hits the bath water you’re greeted with an awakening waft of lemon grass and bergamot. Avobath also has a considerable amount of crushed fresh avocado and olive oil in it which is what makes it so hydrating. It’s an excellent choice if you suffer with dry skin, I find that the moisture stays for at least 48 hours after using it too.

Once the bath bomb has completely dissolved you are left with beautiful, bright green bath water, I know you shouldn’t have hot, hot, hot baths but I love using the Avobath in a hot as I can stand it bath. There’s something so relaxing about all of the Avobath’s ingredients mixed together, it’s almost as if my stresses and worries dissolve away with the bath bomb.

Performance wise the Avobath is on par with the Blackberry bath bomb. Much like the Blackberry bath bomb, Avobath has secret magical powers because of the essential oils within it. I like that you may only be aware of these hidden powers if you have bothered to learn a little bit more about a Lush products ingredients…

Not everyone looks for bath bombs that only produce patterns and loads of colours so I can see why Avobath has thankfully remained so popular.

Although the Avobath bath bomb is plain to look at, I still hold it with high regard. I’d be very upset if Lush ever discontinued it. It’s high up in my list of bath bomb favourites.

Fox Bath Bomb from Lush

When I very first see this pretty, little Fox shaped bath bomb I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a few. I adore the character products that Lush create, past favourites include the Spring Bunny, Ickle Baby Bot and the Butterbear bath bomb.

The Fox Bath Bomb was a Lush Summit product exclusive back in February 2017. It was a charity bath bomb that was brought out to not only raise some money but also to spread awareness of the cruelty that the fox is up against when Fox hunting is in question.

With the UK’s general election only a few days away, foxhunting has been a frequent topic of conversation. Currently it is illegal to participate in foxhunting in the UK but there have been talks about making it legal again.

Even though this bath bomb is now no longer available, Lush are still pushing their campaign on it, I’m not here to preach politics but I will say that I am dead set against foxhunting. In all of the UK Lush stores they currently have posters displayed that read, ‘Dear 16%, we find foxhunting cruel. Sincerely, the 84%’

Once as a child I was sat in a car and we drove past a huge gathering of horses, riders and foxhounds. It was one of the most eeriest experiences I have ever had. It was almost as if I could smell the fear in the air. I am not a lover of foxes, in fact I am petrified of them, I would however never condone killing them just for fun.

No matter how much I love Lush and their products, sometimes there is the odd few that I don’t get along with. Unfortunately the Fox bath bomb is one of those products. I want to kick myself as to look at, it is such a beautiful and sweet design, the fact that it is also fronting a campaign I believe so strongly in makes me feel even worse, I however cannot get on with its scent. The scent it has is from the ‘Lust’ Lush-scent family meaning that the Fox bath bomb isn’t the first Lush product to have its scent.

The Fox bath bomb is heavily fragranced with jasmine and ylang ylang. I’m not entirely sure what it is about the mixture of those two ingredients that upsets my nose so much but I have tried and tried to like it with no joy. 9 times out of 10 I grow to appreciate a  product’s scent but as for the Lust scent, I don’t think it is ever going to happen.

Please do not take my word for it though, I have seen many Lushies raving about the Lust, Lush-scent. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean that you’ll feel the same. Recently the Lush Kitchen created an online poll of Lush scents in a bid to find out our favourites so that they could create brand new products with the most popular scents. The Lust scent came 5th, this proves that there are in fact a lot more people out there that love the scent, than there are people (like me) that hate it.

Although I didn’t stay in the Fox bath for very long due to me not liking its scent, I couldn’t help but notice how quickly it had softened my skin. It’s a fairly quick fizzer too, the quicker it fizzles away the quicker you can lie back in the bath and get your relax on! 😉

Bubbling Under Bubble Bar from Lush

The Bubbling Under Bubble Bar is one of my personal favourites, I like it because it is one of very few Lush products that really, really help me with managing the symptoms of my medical conditions, chronic pain and fatigue. Nearly all of Lush’s bath bombs and bubble bars help me to some extent, the hot bath water is great for loosening up tense muscles however, when you combine hot bath water with products that share similar ingredients to the Bubbling Under bubble bar you’ve hit gold.

Bubbling Under is the bubble bar equivalent of the Big Blue bath bomb. The very visible seaweed may put off some, after all it put me off of  the bath bomb back when I very first became a Lushie. Once I however used it I had no regrets and just like that I was eager to get my hands on anything else from the ‘Big Blue’ family.

Just one bar of Bubbling Under can be spread out and used over 2 to 3 baths, each having a more than generous amount of bubbles. Paired up with the Big Blue bath bomb there is no other bath combination quite like it. Apart from the obvious ingredients that make the Bubbling Under and Big Blue two different types of product, their ingredients are pretty much the same.

I personally break up my bubble bars then place the pieces into a sieve, holding it under the hot tap. Other people crumble their bubble bars under the tap with just their hands, I choose to however use a sieve as unfortunately I don’t have a dual tap, it’s either the hot tap or the cold tap for me, using a sieve stops me from freezing/burning my hands off!

Another benefit of using the Bubbling Under bubble bar with a sieve is that it has a similar effect as the stocking trick, (discussed in my Big Blue bath bomb review.) All of the seaweed stays in the sieve meaning no loose seaweed. With the hot water still running over it, the seaweed still softens and you still get the benefits of the seaweed’s soothing properties in the bath water.

The sea salt in Bubbling Under is also very beneficial, it is rich in sodium, magnesium, and other minerals, all of which are great for your skin. There is something that is just so relaxing about hot water and sea salt. I find that sinking myself into a Bubbling Under bubble bath is one of the most relaxing things I can do quickly and easily.

Visually I am also really impressed with how Bubbling Under looks in the tub, it turns the water such an amazing shade of blue, it reminds me of tropical blue seas. Closing your eyes, laying back in the tub and just breathing in Bubbling Under’s scent takes my mind to the beach, with the beach being one of my most favourite places to be (apart from Lush) I can’t help but be completely in love with this product. If it’s ever in the Lush Kitchen I totally recommend you grab one!
