Happy Hippy Body Lotion from Lush

At the time of writing this review the Happy Hippy Body Lotion was an exclusive item only ever available in the 49th Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.

The Happy Hippy scent is one of Lush’s older scent families and therefore considered one of their retro fragrances. It was created long before I became a Lushie and has always been popular.

The Happy Hippy body lotion shares its scent with the Happy Hippy shower gel and half of the Happy Pill bath bomb.

The Happy Hippy scent is best described as a light grapefruit fragrance; Normally grapefruit scents are super bitter and quite often so strong that just one sniff can make you wince, the Happy Hippy scent is however very gentle, making it quite a unique grapefruit-based-scent.

Happy Hippy’s scent although gentle still has a lot of power, it adds a spring to your step but without blowing your head off; It’s the ideal fragrance for those that want a boost without a heavy scent.

Some of the ingredients included in the body lotion are almond oil, fair trade organic cocoa butter, grapefruit oil, bergamot oil and olibanum oil.

The Happy Hippy body lotion came in a 250g bottle which really impressed me as last month’s Lush Kitchens subscription box’s body lotion (the Tender is the Night body lotion) was only 100g.

The body lotion itself is a very light shade of yellow, in some lights it could almost be white. Whenever I see a Lush body lotion sold in a bottle and not in their standard black pots, I think it may be because it has a runny consistency. Happy Hippy is however thick and creamy much like the recently released Let the Good Times Roll body lotion.

It’s not too thick that it takes forever to rub in and not so runny that you accidentally waste it when getting it out of the bottle. In my opinion, the consistency is more or less perfect for a body lotion.

A small amount of the Happy Hippy body lotion goes a very long way. This is one of my favourite things about Lush, their products may be a little more expensive because you’re paying for important extras like ethically sourced ingredients, but you really do get a lot of product for your money when so little of it goes so far.

The scent of the Happy Hippy body lotion doesn’t last for very long, I’ve tried to use more to see if that helps but it’s always very subtle at best; Not everyone likes big, bold scents though. Although its scent isn’t strong it does leave my skin looking and feeling well nourished. It feels particularly good on my legs after shaving.

I haven’t used it alongside the shower gel with the same scent yet but would be interested to know if this makes the scent go a little further?

It is quite often the case that citrusy scents don’t have as much staying power as others and sadly the Happy Hippy body lotions scent doesn’t last on my skin for any more than an hour, BUT I do still really like it.

It’s an ideal body lotion if you’re a fan of more subtle fragrances, I can see myself using this daily. Especially when I’m not in the mood for smothering myself in stronger scents.

Happy Hippy Shower Gel from Lush

The Happy Hippy Shower Gel has been a staple product both online and in Lush stores for so long that it’s practically part of the furniture. It first came out long before I got into Lush, which makes me wonder why it has taken me so long to get a review of it up on my blog? Well, here it is. Better late than never! 😉

Back in March Lush were kind enough to send me a bottle of it so what better time to review it as a thank you, I always appreciate the PR parcels more than words can explain.

The Happy Hippy shower gel is a transparent light yellow shower gel. Lush describe it as ‘a zesty wake up call, that awakens your skin and enlivens your mind.’

At the time of writing this review I have only reviewed one other product that shares its scent, one side of the Happy Pill bath bomb is Happy Hippy scented, and the other side shares its scent with The Olive branch shower gel.

The Happy Hippy shower gel contains grapefruit water, fresh pink grapefruit infusion, fresh grapefruit juice, grapefruit oil, bergamot oil and olibanum oil.

I’d describe its scent as a gentle grapefruit fragrance; Normally grapefruit scents are super strong and can make you wince a little from the sharpness.

Happy Hippy’s scent is powerful enough to add a spring in your step but not so powerful it blows your head off. The bergamot and olibanum seem to round off the sharpness of all of the grapefruit ingredients in it, making it a much more tolerable yet still very energising scent.

A small amount of the Happy Hippy shower gel goes a very long way, it’s quite a thick consistency too but not at all difficult to get out of the bottle. on several occasions I have even used it on my hair as a shampoo.

The Happy Hippy shower gels scent really steps up a notch when it is combined with the hot water and steam from your shower. It lathers up easily and feels delightful on your skin. I have never found it a particularly moisturising shower gel, but it does cleanse your skin well, while also leaving it looking brighter too.

Unfortunately, the Happy Hippy scent doesn’t remain on my skin for very long after use BUT when I use it in my hair the scent can still be detected for a few hours after – although it is very subtle.

I don’t use it on my hair very often but if I’m away from home and limited to what I can take with me it works as both a shower gel and a one off shampoo every now and again.

If you are looking for a new shower gel to use to help wake you up in the morning, Happy Hippy would be a very good choice for you.

I can only apologise as to why it has taken me so long to write up and post this review. My lack of review is not a reflection on how I feel about the product AT ALL. I just get so caught up in the seasonal stock that sometimes the stock that has always been there like the Happy Hippy shower gets completely overlooked.

One Long Soak Bath Bomb from Lush

The One Long Soak Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Mother’s Day line.

The first thing I noticed about it when I see it online was how many colours it had, move over The Experimenter bath bomb, there’s a new rainbow-bath-bomb in town and I believe it is after your crown…

Once the One Long Soak bath bomb arrived, I audibly gasped at its size. IT’S HUGE!

The One Long Soak bath bomb is designed to look just like an old school fairground ticket. It is bright blue, with the pink words ‘one long soak’ chiselled into it.

The bath bomb also has punch holes in it just like an actual fairground ticket does and some are coloured pink, green, yellow and I can also see orange and purple too.

I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but I knew as soon as I see this bath bomb that it was going to be incredible during use.

You can see from the photo above just how big the One Long Soak bath bomb is in comparison to my hand.

The One Long Soak bath bomb contains the following essential oils: lemon myrtle, ylang ylang and grapefruit.

One Long Soak shares its scent with the Mermaid bath bombSnow Dragon bath bomb and Mermaid Tail bubble bar products, (just to name a few!)

The One Long Soak bath bomb’s scent is best described as refreshing and zingy. It’s sharp, citrusy, and packed full of energy.

If you’re feeling groggy from the Winter months a bath with the One Long Soak bath bomb will do more than put a spring in your step.

As soon as the One Long Soak bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of blue foam.

Slowly, the blue foam thins out and pinks, yellows, oranges, greens, and purples begin to spill out of the One Long Soak bath bomb too.

The scent of the bath bomb really comes to life once placed into the water, it’s so crisp and sharp, it’s one incredibly refreshing bath bomb.

The bath art never seems to end, all of the colours of the rainbow stream out of the One Long Soak bath bomb right up until the end, creating rainbow swirls and a kaleidoscope of colourful bubbles too.

With the One Long Soak bath bomb being so big, it took just over 15 minutes to fully dissolve, I think it may have gone on for a little longer had I not decided to crush it to hurry the bath along.

What with all of the colours coming out of the One Long Soak bath bomb, I was expecting the bath water to be brown or grey, however, it was a khaki green!

The One Long Soak bath water not only smells delicious but also leaves your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. You can visibly see that your skin appears brighter.

My skin still feels silky smooth several hours after getting out of the bath and the scent although subtle remains on my skin too.

Overall, I am so in love with the One Long Soak bath bomb and can see it working well as an all-year-round product not just for Mother’s Day. I’m very, very impressed!
