Out Of This World Bath Bomb from Lush

Up until 2023, Lush’s Father’s Day lines have always been small and (dare I say) the least exciting of all of the seasonal lines released throughout the year. This year Lush have however broken the cycle, the 2023 Father’s Day line is incredible!

The line is still small but with its quirky outer-space theme it has gone down a storm with customers, I don’t think I have ever liked the Father’s Day line so much before.

Today, I’m going to be reviewing the astronaut shaped Out Of This World Bath Bomb.

The Out of This World bath bomb contains green tea powder, olibanum resinoid, popping candy and lime and sweet wild orange oils and shares its scent with the Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb.

The scent is bold and sweet, the lime oil is the first ingredient my nose recognises, then second is the sharp and juicy orange, it’s a tropical medley that leaves you wanting more.

The Out of This World bath bomb is super-sparkly! It is mainly white with hints of blue and pinky-purple edges. As I said earlier, it’s designed to look like an astronaut, it reminds me a little of Disney’s Buzz Light Year’s ‘to infinity and beyond!’ pose.

Size-wise the Out of This World bath bomb is about the same size as the Rocket Science bath bomb, I’m a little sad that I can’t try them both together as the bath art of both together would be amazing.

As soon as the Out of This World bath bomb touches the water, blue and purple foam begins to spill out of the bath bombs edges. Soon the water takes over the bath bomb, as it bobs around just under the water’s surface, white foam slowly begins to spill out of it too.

If you look carefully you can also see little stars decorate the water surface, although they disappear very quickly.

The bath art photos in this review do the Out of This World bath bomb no justice at all. The bath art was on par with some of the best Lush bath bombs such as RollerIRL and the Ghostie. I wish I could have got a photo of the mini stars I mentioned above.

The Out of This World bath bomb is quite the slow fizzer taking approximately 10 minutes to fully dissolve, leaving you with plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the bath-art-show that it puts on.

I found the light purple waters left behind by Out of This World incredibly soothing on the skin.

The scent of the Out of This World bath bomb is quite powerful when compared to other bath bombs currently available, the scent of it can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath. My skin still feels incredibly soft throughout the next day too.

I really loved this bath bomb, it has to be one of my most favourite products from all of the Father’s Day releases combined.

It smells great, performs beautifully, and leaves me feeling refreshed and upbeat. I hope Lush bring it back again for next year’s Father’s Day line!

Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime from Lush

With a name like ‘shower slime’, the product is to-say-the-least quite a conversation starter. I have heard mixed reviews on the concept of shower slime product format BUT, I have yet to hear a single negative review from anyone who has actually given a shower slime a go.

Today I will be reviewing the Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime. The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime first made an appearance in Lush’s 2022 Halloween line and is set to make a return for Halloween 2023. It shares its scent with another much-loved Halloween product the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar.

The only annoying aspect of shower slimes (from a practical point of view) is that they are potted. With me being disabled most of the time it’s just easier to reach for a bottled shower gel as they are easier to get out when you and your hands all wet!

The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime contains grapefruit oil, Juniper berry oil, lime oil, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh orange juice and plenty of corn starch. This unique blend of essential oils makes the Sparkly Pumpkins scent a woody and gentle citrus blend, I find myself feeling really uplifted after using it as well as my skin feeling soft, clean, and refreshed.

If you favour Lush products with a more subtle scent, then Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime would be a great choice for you.

Shower slimes work in the same way as a shower gel, they are very slime-like BUT great at leaving your skin clean and refreshed. A small amount of the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime goes a very long way making it great value for money. Shower slimes have a lot of corn starch in them which is what gives them that slightly thicker, tacky, milky-dough-like-consistency.

With just a little bit of water the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime easily lathers up into something that better resembles as a shower gel. The shower slime is not at all sticky and as stated above just feels like a tacky, slightly thicker shower gel.

Out of all of the shower slimes Lush have released before this, none of them have been quite as inviting as the bright orange Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime. You’ll find yourself using more than is necessary just because of its gorgeous bright colour.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime, I’d go as far as to say it is my favourite shower slime that Lush have released so far. I am glad to see that it is making a return for this year’s Halloween line (2023).

Pirates of the Carrageenan Bath Bomb from Lush

Very recently I found an old USB full of photos of Lush products that I thought I’d lost in a house move. I thought I’d explain that, as I am sure that a lot of my readers will be wondering where the sudden influx of old-Lush-product reviews have come from.

I have had notes on certain products written up for years sat without any photos to use, hence me not ever officially reviewing them on here BUT with my old USB of photos, it’s now possible to finally finish my reviews on all of them!

Today I am reviewing the Pirates of the Carrageenan Bath Bomb. The Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb started its Lush life as a Harajuku, Japan-store-exclusive and then went on to be a worldwide, readily available bath bomb as it was a part of Lush’s 30 years of the bath bomb celebration.

Sadly, the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb has long been discontinued but you never know when a Lush product will make a return, so here is my review; Better late than never…

…The Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb came out in the UK in a sea of new and old bath bombs due to the 30 years of the bath bomb celebration back in 2019, out of all of the bath bombs released at that time, the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb had my attention straight away because of its unique shape.

It’s a bright green treasure chest with skull and crossbones embossed on its lid. The little details of the treasure chest are decorated with a sprinkling of golden shimmer so really stand out. There’s never been a bath bomb quite like it.

The Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb contains carrageenan extract, kombu powder, patchouli oil, petitgrain oil, pimento berry oil, sandalwood oil and ginger oil. With it being so packed with seaweed it’s super softening for the skin, very much on par with the Big Blue bath bomb.

The Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb shares its scent with the 4:20pm bath bomb and Botanomancy bubble bar.

Its scent is herbaceous, earthy, and refreshing. It’s not to everyone’s taste, my husband doesn’t like it much, but I love it, it makes me think of a hot but rainy Summers day.

As soon as you place the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb into your bath water, green foam begins to pour out of it. It’s rich earthy scent really comes to life in the water, and it doesn’t take long for the seaweed within the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb to start to soften the water either.

The hotter your bath water the better, it really does make a huge difference when you’re using a bath bomb with seaweed in.

I wasn’t expecting the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb to create any bath art but after a short while a lighter green foam appears out of it too. You can see how both greens swirl together in the photo below.

Once the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb has fully dissolved the water is perfect to soak your skin in, my skin laps up all of its goodness. The scent isn’t as strong on your skin once you’re out of the bath, but it left my skin so incredibly soft.

Overall, I loved using the Pirates of the Carrageenan bath bomb but can see why it got over-shadowed by other brighter and zingier bath bombs. I wish my husband liked the scent more because it would be perfect for him to use after a long day at work. I can’t recommend enough that you use it in the hottest you can stand bath water as it just makes the experience of it that much better.

You’ll also be left wanting to binge watch all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films after using it too. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! 😉
