Mamma Mia Shower Scrub from Lush

Mamma Mia Shower Scrub.png

The Mamma Mia Shower Scrub is the latest of the shower scrubs to be released. Up until last year, Lush for as long as I can remember only had the one potted shower scrub on offer; The Rub Rub Rub. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Rub Rub Rub but when it was the only potted shower scrub available I did begin to grow a little bored of it.

Just as I’d noticed the lack of variety when it came down to the potted shower scrubs Lush must have read my mind. The Magic Crystal shower scrub was randomly released closely followed by another called Scrub Scrub Scrub.

The Mamma Mia shower scrub is a part of the 2019 Mother’s day line and shares its scent with one of the most underrated (in my personal opinion) bath bombs created by Lush, Stardust. Its mixture is also bright pink which happens to be my favourite colour. Including ingredients such as pink grapefruit, vanilla, rosewood and bergamot, Mamma Mia smells just like creamy vanilla ice cream.

To use Mamma Mia shower scrub all you have to do is scoop out a small amount from the pot and work it into your skin just like you would a shower gel. A little amount does go a long way but please feel free to over indulge while using it, I won’t tell anyone if you don’t! 😉

With any exfoliator I recommend that you pay particular attention to any dry patches you may have such as your knees and elbows.

Other ingredients that are also in the Mamma Mia shower scrub are Himalayan salt and rose clay, these 2 ingredients are Mamma Mia’s secret weapon when it comes down to perfect skin exfoliation and hydration all in one product.

It’s rare to find a product that aids both skin hydration and exfoliation so well, Lush have mastered the art and formula in all of their potted shower scrubs for both of these aspects. All in all, I have however found Mamma Mia to be the most moisturising out of all of the shower scrubs I have mentioned in this review.

I will be taking a pot of this with me on my next holiday as well as sun lotion, I do not have a holiday booked right now but if I ever do get the chance to get away, a sun, sea, sand and reading my book by the pool holiday is my idea of heaven. The Himalayan salt in Mamma Mia will help get rid of any dead skin making way for a nice sun tan and the rose clay will help soothe your skin after a day in the sun too. It’s a perfect sunny holiday product. 👌

I’m really sad to know that the Mamma Mia shower scrub will be gone with the rest of the Mother’s day stock soon. Its scent is light and unique, I liked Mamma Mia so much upon first use that I immediately ordered another pot of it as soon as I stepped out of the shower. Not just a small pot either, I am now the proud owner of a 600g pot and my husband isn’t allowed to touch it!

NEW Groovy Kind of Love Bath Bomb from Lush

Groovy Kind of Love 2019 Bath Bomb

Lush love to confuse us but I’m going to attempt to unscramble the ‘Groovy’ confusion…  You may recognise the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb from the Lush Summit event from a few years back.

The following year Lush decided to bring that Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb back but under a different name, All You Need is Love (and Peace). With the opening of the Harajuku store in Japan last year, we have however been presented with yet another rendition of this colourful bath bomb. It’s now back to its original name BUT has a brand new scent.

I haven’t got both products in front of me to compare as the latter was discontinued some time ago BUT the new Groovy Kind of Love bath bombs scent is supposedly similar, if not the same as the Pink Flamingo reusable bubble bar.

While I remember the Pink Flamingo having a fruity and oh-so-moreish scent, I don’t remember it being quite as good as the latest (and which I hope is the last) version of the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb. Containing rosewood, bergamot and ylang ylang, chucking a Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb into your bath is said to be the perfect way of filling your bath tub with peace, love and positivity.

What first attracted me to the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb was its beautiful, rainbow of colours. Piled high in the Lush Liverpool store last week, I couldn’t resist picking 2 up. There’s just something about rainbows and bright colours that cannot be ignored.

As soon as the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb hits the water an explosion of colour fizzles out of it. I have to point out that although some people are disappointed with the bath bombs scent change, I believe the new fragrance suits it much better. It’s light, fruity and happy!

Another thing I have noticed about the newer bath bomb is the strength and boldness of its colours. The newest version of this bath bombs colours don’t wash each other out in the same way as the older versions did. I wasn’t expecting bath art nearly as good as this and couldn’t stop taking photographs.

The fruity bergamot scent of Groovy Kind of Love fills your bathroom as the bath bomb slowly dances around, I was completely mesmerised by both the scent and the pretty patterns it created.

Once fully dissolved the bath water is left a dark shade of orange, I am glad it didn’t turn the water a slushy grey like the The Experimenter bath bomb does. Often when so many colours feature in one product, the end result is quite dark, unrecognisable bath water. I always refer to it as an artists paint pallet after a long day of painting.

The orange water is also gloriously soft to touch, its scent and how it feels on my skin makes me think that this bath bomb is perfect for this time of year. Its scent has a gentle zestiness to it that stays on your skin for a good few hours after you’ve got out of the bath too.

Overall I think this is the best version of Groovy Kind of Love that Lush have created. I hope they never change it again as I’m sure I will soon grow tired of reviewing it, this blog post is post number 3 after all…

I definitely recommend giving the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb a go, it has so much charm and the bath art it creates is incredible!

Yummy Mummy Shower Jelly from Lush

Yummy Mummy Shower Jelly

The Yummy Mummy Shower Jelly is one of 9 shower jellies voted for, for release by the Lush community. I’m unsure on how long Yummy Mummy will be available to purchase online BUT if you’re one of the thousands of people that miss the discontinued Yummy Mummy shower cream, then this shower jelly equivalent will most certainly fill the void it has left in your Lush-life.

This shower jelly is the exact same shade of purple as the shower cream. You’ll also be pleased to hear that its scent is just as intoxicatingly good as the shower cream equivalent too. If the Strawberry Hill shower bomb wasn’t quite ‘Yummy Mummy’ enough for you then I’d definitely grab a pot or 2 of this shower jelly.

I’m unsure on the reason as to why Lush haven’t released a Yummy Mummy shower jelly sooner, I guess for the same reason they haven’t brought out the shower cream again since 2017. There is a huge demand for products in this scent and I wholeheartedly believed this time 2 years ago that they’d have created a body spray in this scent long before now too. We have however had no such luck.

The Yummy Mummy shower jellies ingredients include fresh strawberry infusion, geranium, Brazilian orange and tonka absolute. If you haven’t experienced the Yummy Mummy scent before I’d describe it to you as just like a bowl of sliced, fresh strawberries drizzled in a generous helping of gorgeous, super-sweet vanilla cream. Yum’s the word!

There are so many ways to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time. This method is definitely best if you were planning on sharing the jelly, something that I never do, (even with my husband!)

Most shower jellies I find are fairly robust, the most recent releases have been more than adequate to use as a whole, Yummy Mummy included. This delightful shower jelly lathers up quickly and easily. I have used it several times now and there are no signs of wear and tear to report.

As the lather of the Yummy Mummy shower jelly gets going the steam of the hot shower-water really helps throw its strawberry scent. With a lot of Lush products being citrus-fruit based having a product like Yummy Mummy makes for a great change. What surprised me the most about the Yummy Mummy shower jelly though is how hydrating it was.

Normally shower jellies leave my skin feeling a little dry and in need of body lotion but Yummy Mummy left my skin feeling and looking just how I like it, soft and hydrated without any oiliness. Its scent also hangs around on your skin long after you’ve got out of the shower too. This makes it easier to forgive Lush for not releasing a Yummy Mummy body spray yet…

Overall I am really impressed with the Yummy Mummy shower jelly, it’s just as good as the shower cream equivalent and as far as I am aware has sold very well. It’s a fantastic addition to the Lush shower jelly family and I will be without question grabbing a few pots before they sell out!
