Nana Shower Gel from Lush

Nana Shower Gel

I feel perfectly safe in saying that the Nana Shower Gel is a Lush product that thousands of Lush fans have been patiently waiting for, for YEARS. Sharing its scent with the Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser, it has gone down a storm within the Lush Community.

I just can’t fathom why it’s taken Lush so long to release this absolute gem of a shower gel?!? I rarely take to new Lush products straight away but Nana shower gel had me under its spell after just one use.

Nana is a new all year round product, this means it’s with us for the long haul! YAY! so many of the latest brand-new shower gel releases such as Intergalactic and Goddess have been available for only a limited time. I’d have loved to have got a couple of extra bottles of Intergalactic but unfortunately by the time I had the funds to treat myself, they had all sold out.

As its name suggests the Nana shower gel of course has bananas in. Nana shower gel is in fact a blend of wheatgerm oil mixed in with a banana and oat decoction. I cannot smell the banana in it at all, to me it really does just smell like the aforementioned fresh facial cleanser, Let the Good Times Roll – Toffee-popcorn galore!

Nana shower gel is made with a new sulphate-free and palm-free formula giving it a similar consistency to that of a Lush shower slime, this is the only thing that I didn’t quite like about Nana. While trying to lather it up I found it really easy to drop and waste blobs of it on the shower floor, with a little practice I have gotten a tiny bit better at handling it. I would still however love to see it in a more shower-gel-like consistency some time in the future.

Although I have found the Nana shower gel quite hard to control in the shower, it does lather up well and a little amount of it goes a very long way. It’s extremely hydrating too which is perfect for my dry and often really thirsty skin.

I would normally say at this point of a shower gel that I really likes review that a body lotion equivalent (if there isn’t one) needs to be made. Don’t get me wrong, I’d adore a Nana body lotion but the Nana shower gel is so incredibly hydrating that a body lotion is not actually needed after using it. It’s a lazy persons or those pushed for times dream shower gel.

Nana’s scent really does come alive when it comes into contact with the steam and hot water in the shower, although a little amount does go a very long way I find myself wanting to use a little more than necessary because it smells that good. Overall I do really, really like Nana shower gel and I can look past its different consistency. I know we’re only in January of this year but I’m going to say here and now that I believe this shower gel will be one of the best products released by Lush this year. ✨🍿✨

Strawberries and Cream Bath Bomb from Lush

Strawberries and Cream Bath Bomb

Fans of the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel were thrilled when the Strawberries and Cream Bath Bomb was first released last year (2019). Strawberries and Cream started its Lush-life as a Harajuku store exclusive.

Before long it then became exclusively available at Lush’s flagship store in Liverpool too. It is now currently at the time of writing this review available online and I believe in most Lush stores across the United Kingdom.

Sharing its scent with the aforementioned Lush-cult-classic the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel, it has proven very popular. The Strawberries and Cream bath bomb contains geranium, bergamot and olibanum oils alongside cocoa butter and strawberry powder.

Strawberries and Creams captivating scent is all down to the carefully selected ingredients mentioned above. the Strawberries and Cream bath bomb smells just like a bowl of fresh strawberries that have been drizzled in a very generous helping of vanilla cream.

Lush seem to have taken inspiration for the design of Strawberries and Cream from the likes of the Golden Pear soap and bath bomb. Not to be confused with a Lush bubbleroon either, 2 sides of this juicy-red-strawberry-shaped bath bomb are sandwiched together with what I believe to be cocoa butter.

I’m not quite sure why Lush decided to do this, I’m however not complaining as this simple addition adds a whole new level of hydration to this bath bomb!

The Strawberries and Cream bath bomb is approximately the same size as the palm of my hand (not including fingers). Once in the water it instantly begins to fizzle away, sending green and red bubbles across the waters surface. The green fizz doesn’t last very long but the red holds out until the very end.

If you’re looking for bath art then Strawberries and Cream might not be the best choice for you as it does dissolve very quickly. Regardless of its lack of bath art, Strawberries and cream makes your bath water incredibly soft, so much so that whenever I use it I never want to get out of the bath let alone pull the plug.

Once you are out of the bath its scent although much more subtle on your skin, lasts on you for the best part of the rest of the day.

Although the Strawberries and Cream bath bomb is no where near as amazing in the water in comparison to the likes of other Lush bath bombs,  I do really enjoy using it. Especially when I need to have a quick bath rather than a long soak.

Overall I really do like the Strawberries and Cream bath bomb. It hydrates and softens my skin so well that I do not need to moisturise after using it. Another great benefit if you’re in a rush.

I can totally see and smell exactly why Lush have decided at the time of writing this review to have it as a main line product, it’s berry, berry good! 🍓 😉 ❤️

Prince Charming Shower Gel from Lush

Prince Charming Shower Gel

Lush’s 2020 Valentine’s Day line is already here and with that comes my first review of the year. The Prince Charming shower gel is a much loved retro-Lush-product. Long before I became an obsessive Lush-product-collector the Prince Charming shower gel graced Lush’s shelves, his reign covering the Valentine’s Day period for several years. In 2016 Lush decided to shake things up a bit and released Prince Charming in a shower cream format instead.

Fast forward to 2020 and after 2 years of no Prince Charming at all, Lush have brought it back BUT in its original format, a shower gel. Being honest as always, I have not experienced or found any huge differences between the 2 different formats but wanted to give the Prince Charming shower gel its own review regardless.

2020’s Prince Charming shower gel is a much deeper shade of red in comparison to the shower cream, it also has quite a lengthy ingredients list. It contains essential oils from grapefruit, sandalwood and geranium flowers as well as having a generous helping of fresh pomegranate juice and a blend of vanilla and marshmallow root infusions.

Living up to its name, the first word that comes to mind when I am trying to describe this shower gels scent is in fact, ‘charming’.

Its scent is often compared to the likes of the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream. While I can pinpoint what people mean when comparing the two, I feel Prince Charming’s scent is a little more complex, having several more layers to it. I would describe Prince Charming’s scent as zesty with a hint of floral that is all rounded off and mellowed down by the blend of sweet vanilla and marshmallow roots.

Consistency wise, I think the Prince Charming shower gel is pretty close to perfect. It’s not so thick that you can hardly get it out of the bottle and not too thin that you lose it all at the slightest tip of the bottle. As I mentioned earlier, apart from the darker colour the Prince Charming shower gel is almost identical to the shower cream equivalent, so much so that I am wondering why Lush even bothered to brand it as a shower ‘gel’.

The Prince Charming shower gel goes a very long way, a blob the size of a 50p coin is more than enough to use to for the whole of your body. The scent really comes alive once you’ve got it all lathered up in the hot and steamy shower, it leaves my skin positively radiant. It not only appears brighter, it also feels smooth to the touch and I can smell its subtle fragrance on my skin for the rest of the day.

Overall I am really impressed with this shower gel, it has such an inviting scent, it’s the perfect Valentine’s shower time treat!
