Lady Danbury Bath Bomb from Lush

The Lady Danbury Bath Bomb also known as the Lady Danbury Macabomb because of its macaroon-like design, was released by Lush in collaboration with the Netflix TV series, Bridgerton.

In this collaboration Lush have created a whole line of Lush X Bridgerton products; One part of the collaboration was a Bridgerton themed Lush Kitchen Subscription Box, another a Fresh and Flowers box. The third, a line of online and in-store Bridgerton themed products.

The Lady Danbury Bath Bomb is from the Bridgerton themed, Lush Kitchen Subscription box that was sent out at the end of April 2024.

Lush have never done a collaboration of this size before; It has proven incredibly popular, much like the tv series which has recently released its third season.

As I said earlier, the Lady Danbury bath bomb is designed to look like a macaroon. Two bits of bath bomb are sandwiched together by a dollop of cocoa butter.

Unlike the other macaroon shaped Bridgerton bath bomb called Two Families, the Lady Danbury bath bomb has just one Lush-scent-family. Two Families is a little different and features two.

One side of the Lady Danbury bath bomb features the word ‘LUSH’ in its middle, and the other side has the Bridgerton logos letter ‘B’ in its middle.

The Lady Danbury bath bomb shares its scent with the Posh Chocolate body wash and Posh Chocolate shower gel, which are two products I wholeheartedly recommend.

The Posh Chocolate scent is best described as a chocoholics’ dream Lush fragrance. It smells just like a tub of chocolate spread, I wouldn’t blame someone for wrongly assuming that the Lady Danbury bath bomb was edible, disclaimer; it’s not, please don’t eat it!

The Lady Danbury bath bomb contains fairtrade organic cocoa butter, strawberry powder, fairtrade shea butter, cocoa absolute, Australian sandalwood oil, vanilla absolute, extra virgin coconut oil and almond oil.

The Lady Danbury bath bomb is a light shade of pink, I know most customers often reach for the brighter coloured bath bombs, but I feel the lighter colour of the Lady Danbury is much better suited for a macaroon inspired bath bomb.

Lady Danbury is one of the main characters in the Bridgerton Netflix series, I will keep this review spoiler free, but she’s been integral to the story in every season of Bridgerton so far and in the Bridgerton-spin-off, Queen Charlotte too.

As the Lady Danbury bath bomb comes in to contact with your bath water there is a gentle hiss as a tiny stream of light pink bubbles seeps out of it. It doesn’t take very long for the cocoa butter centre to start melting into the water too.

With the Lady Danbury bath bomb having so much cocoa butter in, I expected it to be quite an oily one in a similar way to the Butterball bath bomb.

When the hot water meets the bath bomb the scent changes a little bit, it now smells of pure cocoa, it reminds me so much of a creamy hot chocolate!

It was at this point of using the Lady Danbury bath bomb that I realised just how much I liked it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get on with the Two Families bath bomb quite as much as its scent was too complicated for my liking.

The Lady Danbury bath bomb took about seven minutes to dissolve. The hotter your bath water the quicker the cocoa butter will melt so the time frame can differ slightly depending on temperature.

I said earlier on in this review that I suspected that the Lady Danbury bath bomb would be quite an oily bomb because of how much cocoa butter it had in it. I was right, I advise using it with hot as you can stand it water to get the most out of it skin-hydration-wise.

The water left behind is musky pink coloured. Unlike the Two Families bath bomb I didn’t need to rinse off in the shower after using Lady Danbury which is a huge plus.

Overall, I loved the Lady Danbury bath bomb, I was worried I wouldn’t after my experience with Two Families, but it was lovely throughout.

I also LOVE the Posh Chocolate scent in a bath bomb format, I hope Lush continue to expand the product line of this yummy Lush-scent-family as they haven’t made a single item in its scent, that I haven’t loved yet!

Whoosh Temple Balm from Lush

Temple balms aren’t new to Lush, I first tried the Whoosh Temple Balm on one of my very first visits to Lush Oxford Street. I think at the time of my first visit, both it and the Dream Time temple balm were only available in spa stores.

Fast forward to 2024 and both the Whoosh and Dream Time temple balms have been revamped with new packaging and are now available to purchase online.

Previously, the temple balms have only been sold in little tins, now they are in twisting capped tubes (a bit like a school glue stick) that you push up from the bottom. As a disabled woman who often struggles to open small tins, this has pleased me no end!

We can also all get excited as the new temple balm packaging is a part of Lush’s plastic pot return scheme. If you didn’t know already, you can bring your clean, empty pots into a Lush store to swap them for money off your next purchase!

Temple balms are meant to be applied directly on to your temples but can also be applied on all of your pulse points too. Personally, I like to put the Lush temple balms on the inside of my wrists a bit like you would a perfume.

The Whoosh temple balm is meant to be used when you’re in need of a boost, Lush’s website describes it as a ‘sweet and zesty aroma of get-up-and-go grapefruit’ as well as claiming that it is ‘perfect for perking up a dull morning.’

Whoosh contains organic jojoba oil, organic castor oil, organic candelilla wax, grapefruit oil, rosemary oil and geranium oil.

The most dominant ingredient my nose picks up on is the grapefruit, Lush weren’t wrong when they said that the Whoosh temple balms scent would leave you bright and alert.

The Whoosh temple balm glides on to your skin easily and a very small amount goes a long way, like the Dream Time temple balm it’s a very strong scent too. Only a dab of it on your pulse points is necessary. 

I’m quite funny with things that could potentially make my already oily face oilier. The Whoosh temple balm is however not a greasy formula and soaks into your skin super quickly so I’m happy to use it on my temples. The scent lasts for a good few hours too.

There’s just something so energising about the Whoosh temple balms scent, it smells just like something I’d be served for breakfast to set me up for the day at a really fancy hotel!

While I can’t say for certain that it’s only the Whoosh temple balm that has helped put a spring in my step of a morning, I do seem to feel a little more cheerful on the days that I have used it.

Two Families Bath Bomb from Lush

The Two Families Bath Bomb (also known as the Two Families Macabomb because of its macaroon-like design) was released by Lush in collaboration with the Netflix TV series, Bridgerton.

I was lucky enough to receive a Two Families bath bomb in a surprise box sent from Lush. I squealed the house down when I saw the parcel sat on my doorstep. Thanks again Lush!

As I said earlier, the Two Families bath bomb is designed to look like a macaroon. Two bits of bath bomb are sandwiched together by a dollop of cocoa butter.

What makes the Two Families bath bomb so unique however is the fact both sides of the bath bomb have two completely different scents.

The yellow side which features the word LUSH in its middle, shares its scent with the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon, a long-discontinued bubble bar version of a macaroon.

While the blue side that has the Bridgerton logos letter B in its middle, shares its scent with the Deep Sleep bath bomb.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is best described as a delicious chocolate orange fragrance and Deep Sleep is a calming mix of lavender and chamomile.

I am always honest in my Lush reviews, and I admit I like most of the Lush products I try. Both the Yuzu and Cocoa and Deep Sleep Lush-fragrances are favourites of mine, but together? I really wasn’t sure they’d work but kept an open mind.

Lush describe the Two Families bath bomb as ‘a beautiful union of scent’ and with me keeping an open mind I decided to use the Two Families bath bomb whole, instead of splitting it and using it over 2 baths.

The Two Families bath bomb contains fair trade organic cocoa butter, fair trade shea butter, lavender oil, chamomile oil, lavender absolute, neroli oil, bergamot oil, grapefruit oil, tonka absolute, cocoa absolute, yuzu powder, lavender powder, extra virgin coconut oil and almond oil.

As the Two Families bath bomb comes in to contact with your bath water there is a gentle hiss as a tiny stream of coloured bubbles seeps out of it. If you put the yellow part under first, the bubbles are yellow and if you put the blue part in first, the bubbles will be blue.

It was at this point of using the bath bomb that I realised the two scents mixed together really wasn’t something I liked. As I said, I like both the Yuzu and Cocoa and Deep Sleep Lush-scent-families but together I was left feeling completely overwhelmed, almost a sensory overload.

I have however heard many more positive opinions on this product than I have negative, just because I didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean you won’t too.

The Two Families bath bomb took about seven minutes to dissolve. The hotter your bath water the quicker the cocoa butter centre will melt though, so this time differs depending on that.

Because of the cocoa butter centre, the Two Families bath bomb is quite an oily bomb, like the Butterball bath bomb I advise using it with hot as you can stand it water.

The water left behind is a bright shade of green and is probably the most hydrating bath bomb I’ve used in a long time.

I did have to jump in the shower after I’d got out of the bath as there was so much oil left on me. This is something that I never have to normally do after a Lush bath.

Overall, I loved the idea of the Two Families bath bomb, it was a clever way of representing two families coming together in marriage, but I personally didn’t enjoy it because of the clashing scents, I am super fussy with scents though so don’t just take my word for it on this bath bomb.
