Dirty Bath Bomb from Lush

dirty bath bomb (1)The Dirty Bath Bomb is a brand new 2020 release and is a part of the small collection created for Father’s Day. Rumours are however circulating that the Dirty bath bomb will remain past Father’s Day, becoming a permanent fixture in all stores. 🤞

SPOILER ALERT – I have fallen in love with the Dirty bath bomb and am very excited just at the idea of it becoming a part of the permanent line. It is a great minty alternative to the Intergalactic bath bomb and I feel there is definitely a gap in the bath bomb collection for such a product. No other minty based bath bomb has impressed me more than both the Intergalactic and Dirty bath bombs.

Although I am really sad to see that the Dear John bath bomb didn’t make its way back into the Fathers day line this year, the Dirty bath bomb has well and truly softened the blow of its absence.

Containing spearmint, neroli, tarragon and sandalwood oil, Dirty’s fragrance is a super-cool mix of herby-spearmint. Just one sniff of it leaves me feeling refreshed.

Upon getting my last Lush delivery the Dirty bath bombs scent was the most dominant in a box full of several other bath bombs. It’s a powerful fragrance to say the least and one I can’t get enough of.

After picking up on its amazing scent the next thing I noticed about the Dirty bath bomb was how beautiful it was, like the Groovy Kind of Love bath bomb it has layers of several different colours; Dark blue, light blue, dark green, light green and yellow.

As soon as the Dirty bath bomb hits the water all of its cool and calming colours begin to fizzle out of it sending out thousands of tiny-hissing blue, green and yellow bubbles creating beautiful patterns on the water’s surface.

Although the Dirty bath bomb is quite a fast fizzer it puts on such a spectacular show, the bath water it leaves behind is a deep-dark-green, very similar to the shade of water that the Guardian of the Forest bath bomb creates.

I found myself running my hands through the soft-water, watching the green swirls as they caught the sunlight.

Even in a hot, hot bath my skin is left feeling cool as a cucumber once out of the Dirty bath bombs waters. I feel fresh and energised and more than ready to take on the day.

My skin laps up all of the goodness from the Dirty bath bombs ingredients, it feels soft, hydrated and appears brighter once I am out of the bath. Its awakening scent stays on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

Overall I am really, really impressed with the Dirty bath bomb, there is not a single thing I would change about it. Its fragrance, the way it looks and performs in the bath and literally everything about it makes me so happy, what more can you need in a bath bomb? It’s perfect and has really helped me get out of my self-pitying quarantine slump, I really do hope it does become a main line product. Lush would be mad to not keep it around. 🤞

The Mermaid Tail Bubble Bar started its Lush life as a Harajuku, Japan store exclusive. It is however at the time of writing this review currently available from Lush’s UK website alongside a mountain of other bubble bars released in celebration of 30 years since the bubble bar was invented.

I’m always honest in my reviews and my first thought upon receiving the Mermaid Tail bubble bar was that it was quite small for its price. At the point of ordering, I was completely unaware that the Mermaid Tail bubble bar also had a bath-melt part. The blue detailed fin is in fact a bath melt, learning this made me a little happier about this products higher price.

The Mermaid Tail bubble bar shares its scent with the Baked Alaska soap and the Mermaid bath bomb, it contains lemon myrtle, ylang ylang and grapefruit oils so has quite an in-your-face citrus fragrance, if you’re looking for a product to wake you up, SEARCH NO MORE.

To my nose, the grapefruit oil is the most noticeable ingredient in Mermaids Tail, its scent is incredibly sharp, demanding your full attention.

Ordinarily I’d use a bubble bar this small all in one bath however after taking its scent-strength into consideration, I decided to break the bubble bar up, spreading it over 2 baths. I’m so glad I did this as I think my eyes would have started watering had I used it all together!

The first time I used the Mermaid Tail bubble bar I took the bath melt out of it, putting it to one side. Using just half of the bubble-bar-part of Mermaid Tail turned the bath water a beautiful shade of light purple, copious amounts of bubbles floated upon the waters surface too.

When it came round to using the other half of the Mermaid Tail, I decided to use the rest of the bubble-bar-part and the bath-melt-fin. The light purple water I experienced before was now a calming, pastel blue. I thought using the bath melt would stop there from being so many bubbles, I was wrong. I was extremely surprised that such a small amount of bubble bar could create so many bubbles.

I’d definitely say that the bath melt part of this bubble bar was the strongest scented part of it; Its scent lasted right up until the last drop of water went down the plug hole and then lingered in the air for a few hours after. The water was smooth and pearlescent, leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Once I had got out of the bath I felt full of energy, its refreshing fragrance stayed on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too, putting a spring in my step.

Overall I am quite impressed with the Mermaid Tail bubble bar, even though it’s small it served me 2 perfectly bubbled baths. Something I wasn’t expecting upon seeing its size. I also love the addition of the bath melt, I never normally have time to use bath melts but have made a mental note to try use more now as I really enjoyed the one included in the Mermaid Tail bubble bar.

I’ll start this review off with a quick apology for not having this review out sooner, I’d written it and had completely forgotten to publish it. Hence the talk of Christmas during a pre-summer English heatwave! Sorry! 😋

The Snowman Dreaming Bath Bomb was one of my favourites from all of the brand new bath bombs released last year (2019). Considering how many new bath bombs were actually released last year (because of the 30 years of the bath bomb celebration) – This is a very bold statement indeed!

Borrowing its shape from the Snowman shower jelly, many long-term-Lush-fans were hit with a wave of Christmas nostalgia upon first sight of this bath bomb. Containing a delicate blend of cedarwood and lavender oils, Snowman Dreaming has a calm and gentle fragrance. It’s the perfect product to use just before bed, especially if you’re looking for a little help with dropping off.

Snowman Dreaming’s scent has been a popular topic amongst the Lush Community. When all of the Winter products were first delivered to me I had them all out ready to take photos. My nose kept telling my brain that one of the products smelt like the aforementioned Snowman shower jelly. Turns out my nose was actually picking up the Snowman Dreaming bath bomb.

It’s not the same scent by any means BUT I definitely get a hint of the shower jellies scent buried underneath all of that cedarwood. Its ingredients list does not back up my beliefs but my nose just won’t give up the ghost.

I thought I was going mad until I see on Instagram that several other people have said the same. There were also people who disagreed wholeheartedly too BUT there must be something about it for some of us to think the same unprompted?!

The Snowman Dreaming bath bomb is relatively small, I’d say that it is a very similar size to the retired Christmas-time, Butterbear bath bomb. Once placed in the bath water the Snowman Dreaming bath bomb explodes with colour. Pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens and blues shoot out of its left side leaving behind a rainbow-stream of bath bomb foam.

Even though it is a small bath bomb it’s a very slow fizzer giving you more than enough time to appreciate the bath art it creates. The colours that come out of it are like none I have seen from a bath Bomb before, suddenly I don’t miss the, The Experimenter bath bomb as much anymore!

After I used the Snowman Dreaming bath bomb for the very first time, I put an order in for 2 more before my bath had even had time to drain. I then went on to pick up 2 more when I visited Lush’s Liverpool store in December.

They are visually irresistible, there is just something about the fresh, crisp-white-colour of it against the clash of all the colours of the rainbow at its side. It almost radiates happiness and really helped lift my spirits during the dull and dreary Winter.

Snowman Dreaming’s scent is subtle before, during and after use. I couldn’t smell it on my skin once I was out of the bath which is strange for Lush bath bombs. My skin was however left feeling smooth and looked noticeably brighter. I have my fingers crossed that this bath bomb comes back again as a part of the 2020 Winter collection, simple yet amazing! 🤞
