Temple of Truth Bubble Bar from Lush

At the time of writing this review, the Temple of Truth Bubble Bar was last available in June 2024’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. Before that, I believe it was first released in 2006 and has made a number of appearances on and off since.

The Temple of Truth is a darker blue, cone shaped bubble bar. Colour wise, it’s a very close match to the shade of blue used in the Intergalactic bubble bar and has a similar shape to the Cyclops bubble bar; The Temple of Truth however has a much more relaxed cone shape, its point isn’t as pointy and precise.

With it being all one colour, it isn’t the most exciting looks wise and is on the smaller size too BUT I never like to judge a Lush product before using it.

Each Temple of Truth bubble bar contains some of the following ingredients: guaiac wood oil, ho wood oil and sandalwood oil.

Although the Temple of Truth bubble bar is one of Lush’s older products, as far as I am aware its scent has only ever been used in this bubble bar.

Its scent is gentle but has plenty of layers which I will attempt to put into words…

It’s earthy, woody, floral and a little musky. Being honest, it’s not a scent I would usually go for but it came in the Lush Kitchen subscription box, so I decided to give it a try.

To use the Temple of Truth bubble bar, I broke it up then put all of the pieces of it into a sieve. I then let the running water trickle over it.

I find this sieve method, the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars. It is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted.

Through trial and error, I have found that using bubble bars like this makes the most bubbles too.

Normally with bubble bars I like to spread them out over several baths but with the Temple of Truth bubble bar being so small I decided to use the whole thing in one bath, something I do not regret.

The blanket of fluffy white bubbles starts to grow as soon as you place the broken-up pieces of the Temple of Truth Bubble Bar under the running tap. Underneath the fast-building blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns a deep shade of blue.

Once in the bath, I couldn’t help but notice how soft the water was. There were so many bubbles that it took me a lot of swishing them away to actually get visuals of the water.

Once out of the bath, its scent although very subtle, lasted on my skin for a good-few-hours. I felt relaxed and ready for bed.

Overall, I did like the Temple of Truth bubble bar, the colour of blue it turns the water is such an inviting blue, but it isn’t a bubble bar I’m desperate to use again, it wasn’t at all unpleasant I just prefer fruitier Lush fragrances.

Apple A Day Bath Bomb from Lush

The Apple A Day Bath Bomb is a brand-new product from the 2024 World Bath Bomb Day collection.

Apple A Day is actually two bath bombs in one. One bath bomb is a red apple with wheels and the other a green caterpillar. The caterpillar is easy to slip in and of a hole in the red apple, meaning they can be used together or on their own.

Many customers have compared the design to the Apple A Day bath bomb to the caterpillar character in the bestselling children’s book by Eric Carle, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

What I really like about the Apple A Day bath bomb is its scent, but we’ll get more into that once I’ve spoken about the bath bombs ingredients…

The Apple A Day bath bomb contains bergamot oil, Brazilian orange oil, rose absolute, neroli oil, orange flower absolute and apple powder.

The Apple A Day bath bomb is a part of the So White/Once Upon A Time Lush-scent-family. I throw the favourite word around a lot when talking about Lush products but if I was given the choice of being able to only use one Lush scent for the rest of my life, I would choose the Apple A Day bath bombs scent-family without hesitation.

The Apple A Day bath bombs scent is best described as a delicious crisp apple scent; It always makes me think of a freshly sliced apple.

Other products that share its scent are the Once Upon A Time body spraySo White 2016 bath bombLuigi shower gel and Atom Heart Mother bath bomb.

When fixed altogether, each of the Apple A Day bath bombs are approximately a huge 230g, with it being so big and having two different parts, it wasn’t easy to get the below photo, I am surprised it came out as good as it did because I’m incredibly clumsy!

As soon as the Apple A Day bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water it begins to fizz away. It’s not a particularly foamy bath bomb and sinks almost immediately.

I am guessing the sinking is more to do with the hole in the apple bath bomb than the bath bombs heavier weight. I decided to use the apple and caterpillar together as I felt this would give me the full Apple A Day experience. I have however seen several others use the apple and caterpillar in two separate baths.

When bath bombs sink like the Apple A Day bath bomb I like to lay back and let the little stream of bubbles it creates tickle my back, there’s something about it that is so relaxing.

The Apple A Day bath bomb dissolves very quickly; It was over in just under two minutes. Apple A Day doesn’t produce any bath art, but it does create strawberry red bath water that smells just like freshly sliced apples.

The bath bombs gorgeous crisp scent hangs around your bathroom long after you’ve pulled the plug and also lasts on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

Once out of the bath, my skin felt hydrated and fresh. There’s something about its crisp apple scent that leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Apple A Day bath bomb. It’s not my favourite bath bomb that Lush have made in its scent BUT it always works so well in the bath bomb format that I’d happily use any bath bomb with its scent time and time again!

Crème Anglaise Body Lotion from Lush

The Crème Anglaise Body Lotion isn’t a new product from Lush, it however fits in so well with Lush’s latest collaboration with the Netflix’s Bridgerton series, that it has made a reappearance with fancy, Bridgerton themed packaging.

All of the packaged Lush X Bridgerton products have incredibly detailed labels with a regency era vibe. Crème Anglaise sports a baby blue label, that immediately caught my attention.

The in-store and online Bridgerton line was released just in time for the start of season 3. Sadly, I have already finished season 3, but the Bridgerton themed Lush products are really helping fill the void it has left in my life…

I was lucky enough to receive a pot of the Bridgerton themed Crème Anglaise body lotion in a surprise box sent from Lush back in May, but I have bought it for myself before. Thank you, Lush!

The Crème Anglaise body lotions scent is best described as very almondy. It also has hints of vanilla mixed in with it giving it a heady and intense sweet desert-like-fragrance.

Some of the ingredients included in the Bridgerton edition of the Crème Anglaise body lotion are, meadowsweet infusion, organic almond oil, organic cocoa butter, fresh rose petal infusion, organic jojoba oil, tiger lily extract, organic avocado oil, sacha inchi oil, organic cold pressed evening primrose oil, organic orange blossom honey, Brazilian orange oil, myrrh resinoid, vanilla absolute and bees wax.

Over the years, Lush have described the Crème Anglaise body lotion as one of their most luxurious lotions ever.

It is a light nude shade and consistency wise it’s a lot like the Sleepy body lotion; Not too thick that it takes forever to rub in and not so thin you accidentally waste some by spilling it.

A small amount of the Crème Anglaise body lotion goes a very long way. Its thick formula soothes your skin and leaves it soft and perfectly hydrated.

I have found its scent to last only a couple of hours after use, which is different from the other Bridgerton body lotion, Tender is the Night.

This however isn’t a negative for me as I’ve never been a huge fan of sweet-foody scents like Crème Anglaise. The fact that its scent does not last doesn’t bother me at all, I much prefer to focus on the way it leaves my skin feeling after use. It really is luxurious.

The Crème Anglaise body lotion also sinks into your skin quickly, a plus if you’re in a hurry.

Overall, I do really like the Crème Anglaise body lotion, which is something I wasn’t expecting when I first came across it as, as I said earlier, the sweet-foody scented products aren’t the products that I ordinarily reach for. How it leaves my skin has however won the Crème Anglaise body lotion over for me. What a treat!
