I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb from Lush (2024)

The original I Want My Mummy bath bomb was a part of Lush’s Halloween line back in 2022; Fast forward to 2024 and the I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb has come back but with some strikingly new features.

The most obvious difference in this year’s version is the addition of the colour pink. 2022’s was all white and this years is a mixture of white and pink.

Lush have also decided to give this version of the bath bomb a completely different scent, altering the scent of a product that was already well-loved is always a gamble. Lush took the same chance with the Magic Potion Bath Bomb (2024) this year and unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan, I however kept an open mind for the new version of I Want My Mummy…

Playing up to the theme of Halloween, the I Want My Mummy bath bomb is designed to look like a mummy (and not the motherly-figure type) this mummy is the zombie wrapped in bandages type. Considering it’s replicating a resurrected dead body covered in bandages, it’s actually quite cute!

Another thing that’s very different about the 2024 version of the I Want My Mummy bath bomb is that it glows in the dark. Just like the Glow In The Dark shower gel, simply charge the bath bomb under some light before switching the light off to see it glow.

I am guessing this is why Lush decided to add the colour pink to this bath bomb, this way the white bits of the bath bomb really pop when made to glow in the dark!

This years I Want My Mummy bath bomb shares its scent with the Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb, its scent is sharp and zesty with a subtle woody undertone. It’s a lively and refreshing fragrance, which fits right into the whole theme of being brought back from the dead… 

Some of the ingredients included in this bath bomb are lime oil, sweet wild orange oil, olibanum resinoid and the magical ingredient that makes it glow in the dark once charged, luminescent zinc-sulfide!

As soon as the I Want My Mummy bath bomb touches the water there is an explosion of pink spreading outwards from the bath bomb in foamy waves. The pink foam slowly thins out as the bath bomb slowly dissolves.

The I Want My Mummy bath bomb takes about 10 minutes to completely dissolve. The water left behind is a cloudy pink; To look at, it reminds me of the pink, fruit-and-barley, summer fruits squash that I used to drink when I was a kid.

The scent of the I Want My Mummy bath bomb lasts throughout your entire bath and remains on your skin for a good few hours after you get out too. My skin felt hydrated and appeared brighter after a long soak in its waters as well.

Overall, I did really enjoy the new-style, I Want My Mummy bath bomb. Like I said earlier, changing a previously released product (even a little bit) is always a gamble but I feel the I Want My Mummy bath bomb was different enough to its older version that I could see past all of the changes and appreciate it as if it’s a whole new bath bomb.

Ghost in the Dark Soap from Lush

Ghost in the Dark Soap

When I found out that Lush were bringing out a Halloween soap that not only glows in the dark (see below photo) but also shares its scent with the Avobath bath bomb, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

When the Ghost in the Dark Soap arrived on my doorstep I was pleasantly surprised at how big it was, it fits more than snuggly in my hand. I was also very pleased with how much it mirrored the aforementioned bath bombs scent, Avobath. With my eyes closed I’m not sure I could tell them apart in a sniff test!

As Lush products go, I know the soaps aren’t always the most interesting items that Lush have to offer. With the Ghost in the Dark soap having the ability to glow in the dark, a whole new level of fun has come to a no-longer-simple bar of soap. The first question everyone asks when they realise that this bar of soap actually really does glow in the dark is, ‘HOW?!!’

The magic ingredient is called luminescent zinc sulfide. I was going to do a whole paragraph on it but then I remembered who I was and how bad I was at Chemistry at school, I have therefore linked up to Lush’s website (here) as I think it would be better all round to let the experts explain the science behind it.

Rich with mood and energy boosting ingredients such as lemongrass and bergamot oils, a quick wash with a bar of Ghost in the Dark will banish away any early morning fatigue you may be feeling; Sharpening your senses and leaving you alert and ready to face the day.

Although I have only used this soap on my hands so far, (I don’t normally use bars of soap anywhere else as my skin is notoriously fussy) it does lather very quickly and it’s really hydrating too, something I never expect from a bar of soap as they normally dry my skin out.

Overall I think the Ghost in the Dark soap is a fantastic addition to Lush’s Halloween line. It has certainly helped me get through the darker Winter mornings, I have also used it several times now and although it has shrunk a tiny bit, I can see it’s going to last for quite some time making it excellent value for money.

The fact it glows in the dark adds a novelty factor to it too,  I imagine this has helped it sell as it’s quite the unique selling point!

I have very much enjoyed exploring the Avobath scent in the soap format. I have my fingers crossed that Lush use this scent again very soon as it really is a life saver in the mornings when you’re feeling groggy.
