Ups-A-Daisy Bath Bomb from Lush

When the photos of Lush’s 2017 Mother’s day range were released the Ups-A-Daisy Bath Bomb is what first caught my attention. Shaped just like a giant daisy their bright and bold colours are perfect for the Spring time.

Some have confused Ups-A-Daisy as being available in 2 different colours like the Mum bath bomb however, this in not the case. One side of the bath bomb is orange and pink, while the other side is yellow and turquoise. Both sides are visible in the photo above.

The Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb is actually great value for money. I honestly expected it to be a lot more expensive, getting anything cheaper is of course always more than welcome. I know many people have noticed that there has been a slight price-hike in some Lush products, although this is frustrating, it’s just one of those things. Ingredient prices are always expected to fluctuate depending on a huge number of different factors that are beyond anyones control.

The only thing that doesn’t fluctuate in regards to Lush products is their outstanding quality. The best of quality is always a guarantee when it comes down to Lush,  I therefore don’t mind if the price of a product does go up a little, obviously the cheaper the better (I’d be mad to say otherwise) BUT, always getting great quality, ethically sourced products is what is the most important thing to me.

The one and only thing that stopped me in my tracks when it came down to the Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb was deciding what side of it I would put face down in the bath water. It sent my OCD into overdrive. I am a huge geek and like to experience every last second of a Lush product, it killed me to not be able to have both sides on top, I however had picked up 2 of these bath bombs so that I could try it the other way round in another bath – all was not lost!

Upon first use I used the Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb orange and pink side up. As soon as the bath bomb hit the water it began to foam. Slowly but surely the Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb fizzes away creating pretty streaks of orange, pink, yellow and blue.

What I wasn’t prepared for was how long it took to dissolve. I love a slow fizzer as I like to take pictures of all the pretty patterns a bath bomb makes, after 10 minutes I however got bored and dunked them under as you can see in the 3rd photo, above and below.

Scent wise, I have heard a lot of people compare this bath bomb to Frozen. I can see what they mean, Ups-A-Daisy is however less sweet and more floral. I’m not a huge fan of floral scents and it did take me a while to get used to this bath bomb, once in the bath I was however very happy with it.

When the bath bomb is orange and pink side up, to look at it reminds me of the Yoga bath bomb. When it is yellow and blue side up it reminds me a little of a mixture of the Yoga and Fizzbanger bath bomb.

Looking on Instagram I can see a lot of people seem to favour having it orange and pink side up. Both sides were beautiful, I found that the yellow and blue side up was a little more colourful though. I also recommend waiting for the bath bomb to do its thing, it is a very slow fizzer but the colours that streak out of it at the very end are on par with last years Somewhere Over the Rainbow bath bomb.

Overall I really like the Ups-A-Daisy bath bomb, it isn’t my favourite of the Mother’s Day range but it does put on a very beautiful show and I am glad that I tried it both sides up. I definitely recommend trying this bath bomb twice as either sides put on a very different show.

Wizard Bubble Bar from Lush

wizard-bubble-bar

I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting the Wizard Bubble Bar to smell like.

Yes, you can read the ingredients list and take a guess but when I do, do this for a Lush product, 90% of the time  I am never right.

Just one ingredient could either dampen or heighten the scent of another ingredient. As much as inconsistency annoys me it’s what makes each and every Lush product addictively interesting.

I believe that the Wizard Bubble Bar was a Halloween product from a few years ago, I unfortunately didn’t get to try it back then so have had to wait for it to be on the Lush Kitchen menu on a week I had some spare cash.

I finally got hold of a few and now it’s time for me to tell you if it was worth the wait…

The first thing you notice about the Wizard bubble bar is its sparkly, cadbury purple hat, with a big yellow star attached. He is so stinkin’ cute! I just want to grab them all and keep them forever.

As lovely as that would be, Lush products are made to be used and it didn’t take me long to have one of them dissected, (strictly for bathing purposes, of course!)

Its scent is quite different from anything I’ve used from Lush before. It has fennel oil in which gives it a sweet yet spicy edge. In with the fennel oil is tangerine and juniperberry oil too, these add a slight fruity and woody element to its scent.

I really can’t put my finger on how I could fully describe it. It warm and magical. I love its scent, my boyfriend however turned his nose up at it straight away. You can’t please them all…

The Wizard Bubble Bar is the perfect winter product. When I’m cold and my joints and muscles are aching after a long day there is nothing better than slipping yourself into a Wizard bubble bath.

Its ingredients warms me up, relaxes my tired body and helps me wind down ready for a good night sleep.

It’s an incredibly moisturising bath product that I am sure my winter battered skin would thank me for if it could speak.

The smallest amount of the Wizard bubble bar creates copious amounts of fluffy white bubbles, there really is nothing better than slipping yourself under a blanket of silky, soft, bath bubbles.

Even writing about it now is making me want to go jump in a Wizard bath.

I’d recommend using the Wizard Bubble Bar over 2 baths.

The amount is however your choice entirely. As I said, a little of it goes a very long way.

Paired with other products you could certainly make it last over more than 2 baths.

Underneath the perfect blanket of bubbles is rich, cadbury purple sparkly water. It’s so enchanting to look at and my photo below honestly does it no justice at all. The Wizard bubble bar really does give you a magical bath time.

It reminds me of 2015’s Bar Humbug bubble bar although if I had to choose between the 2 I’d vote for Wizard.

People often ask me what I’d pair products up with so I have decided to start adding a few Lush cocktail ideas in my reviews.

With the Wizard bubble bar I’d recommend using it with 1 or 1 half of a Blackberry bath bomb alongside a splosh of Hot Toddy shower gel. It’s such a relaxing mix of products that always warms me up. Another good idea is to use it with Lush Oxford Street’s Satsuma bath bomb.

For something with such a complicated scent it is very versatile, if you think a product would work with it, try it!

Butterbear Bath Bomb from Lush

butterbear-bath-bomb

The first time that I tried the Butterbear Bath Bomb was back in the winter of 2014. I will admit that I wasn’t completely blown away by it, I would however like to point out that this is not because I disliked it, the other more colourful bath bombs just seemed to prevail it, leaving it in the shadows and at the bottom of my draw.

Butterbear although a bit dull performance wise is a very gentle bath bomb that both adults and children can enjoy. Ever since 2014 I have bought each of the children in my family a Butterbear bath bomb as they adore bath time and they always get so, so excited about bath bombs.

I have never forgotten what it was like to be a little girl and by complete accident I started a Christmastime Butterbear tradition in my family. When I very first gave the Butterbear bath bombs to the kids I tried to make them a little bit more interesting. I told them to make a wish before they put them into the bath, the idea behind this was so that they wouldn’t be sad that she/he had gone after just one bath.

I told them that the Butterbear’s job was to listen to their wish, followed by them then fizzing away in the bath, preparing themselves for their journey to the North Pole which of course is via the plug hole. Once down the plug hole the Butterbear’s job was to then find Father Christmas to let him know their Christmas wish.

That is how one silly, made up story turned into a Christmastime tradition for my family. I felt I had to explain this as it is this that helped make the Butterbear bath bomb a special product for both myself and them. Sometimes the smallest amount of imagination can make something that appears dull a lot more interesting!

The Butterbear bath bomb is relatively small, the closest bath bomb to its size that is currently available is the Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb.

Based on its size I’d describe the Butterbear bath bomb as more of a novelty product. It smells exactly the same as the Butterball bath bomb it however isn’t as strong.

Pushing its smaller size to one side, I still find the Butterbear bath bomb to be very moisturising on my skin. I do however feel like I get more out of it when I pair it up with other products.

My favourite cocktail at the moment is the Butterbear bath bomb with a splash of Bubbly shower gel, I am desperately in search of Butterball shower gel to pair with it, fingers crossed I get some soon.

As soon as it is placed in to the water the Butterbear bath bomb fizzes away very quickly.

There’s a lot of white foam and then once the bear has dissolved you notice that there are tiny beads of oil floating on the waters’ surface.

These beads are the cocoa butter and although there isn’t a lot of it, my skin well and truly benefits from it. It isn’t quite as hydrating as the Butterball bath bomb is but its sweet scent stays with me through out the bath leaving me wanting more.

As I said above, I feel that the Butterbear bath bomb is best when paired with other products. What wins it over for me is its soft and creamy scent, the story that goes with it in my family is an added bonus that makes it a very welcome product, every winter.

I can’t ever imagine them discontinuing it, the little people in my family would not be very impressed!
