Sleepy Dust Dusting Powder from Lush

After the unbelievable success of Lush’s Sleepy body lotion, Sleepy scented products have slowly been making an appearance in all sorts of different product-formats. This review is about the brand new limited-edition, Sleepy Dust Dusting Powder. Sleepy Dust is a part of this years (2019) Winter collection and what a collection it is!

My first experience with the Sleepy scent was actually through the Twilight bath bomb a very long time ago. It was the first Lush scent family that I became familiar with and after just one use of the bath bomb I wanted every product available in its same scent. Back then all I could however get hold of that shared its scent was the Twilight shower gel and that was only available in a gift set!

Luckily Lush realised that the world needed more Sleepy and several more Twilight/Sleepy scented products were released; My favourite so far being the Sleepy shower gel.

Dusting Powders are used in the same way as you would talcum powder, I often add a little bit just on my arms and legs as it leaves your skin feeling silky soft. I also find it very helpful for under boob sweat when we are experiencing warmer weather (or on the very rare occasion that I exercise voluntarily… 😂)

Containing lavender, tonka and ylang ylang, Sleepy Dust is overflowing with some of the world’s most soothing, natural ingredients. Also containing kaolin and oat kernel oil it’s perfect for mattfying skin while also helping it to retain moisture. There isn’t anything else quite like its calming and relaxingly-warm lavender fragrance.

I know a lot of people associate anything lavender with ‘old ladies’, Sleepy Dust’s fragrance is however a scent that is popular to those of all ages, before I discovered Lush I didn’t think it was even possible to have a lavender fragrance that I’d actually enjoy as much as I do Sleepy.

It wasn’t until I tried a dusting powder that I realised how useful they were. A quick dusting on my chest, underarms and thighs really do make getting through the day that little bit easier.

I love how fragranced Sleepy Dust is too, its gentle lavender scent stays with you long after using it. I do of course prefer to use Sleepy at the end of the day, after a bath and just before bed for obvious reasons. I am always super happy when Lush bring out a new dusting powder as using the same ones day in, day out can get a little boring.

Sleepy Dust is very much like an old Winter dusting powder from a previous Lush Winter line, the Mr Sandman dusting powder. While both are Twilight/Sleepy scented I have found the Sleepy dusting powder to be better suited to my skin because of the oat kernel oil. Also, Sleepy doesn’t have nearly as much lustre as Mr Sandman does. So little that I in fact cannot even see it. This for some will also a bonus. Overall I really like Sleepy dusting powder. It’s a very welcome addition to my dusting powder collection!

Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub from Lush

Lush have recently spoilt us with yet another lip scrub. 2019’s Halloween range includes the never-before-been-released Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub. I use Lush lip scrubs religiously so whenever a new one comes out I always try to grab a pot.

The main ingredient in Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a simple and natural mix of ingredients can do such a great job. It really does make me question why alternative companies ever actively chose to use micro-plastics in their exfoliation products in the first place. For this reason I am so happy that Lush have created so many new lip scrubs this year, they are ridiculously underrated and more people need to try them!

Using them requires the minimum of effort and they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel gorgeous. They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips and are also very good at softening and hydrating them at the same time. Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits and has never been easier thanks to Lush.

As well as caster sugar the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub also contains fine sea salt, cinnamon, shea butter, pumpkin seed butter, clove bud  oil and pumpkin seed oil. This blend of ingredients make (in my personal opinion) one of the best tasting lip scrubs that has ever been made. You’re technically not supposed to eat it but if you do end up swallowing a bit, you’ll live. 😉

As soon as I took the lid off of my pot of Pumpkin Spice lip scrub, I noticed that it looked almost identical to the Carrot Cake lip scrub from 2019’s Easter range. On first sniff I actually thought that it smelt very similar to the Carrot Cake lip scrub too. Once I had both of them in front of me I however realised they weren’t as similar as I had led myself to believe.

Pumpkin Spices scent is much warmer than the likes of Carrot Cake, if seasons had a signature scent I’m pretty sure Autumn’s would smell just like the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub. The cinnamon in the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub is the most apparent to me, I’m a huge fan of cinnamon so naturally go for the products that have it in it. It’s a strange fragrance considering it smells both sweet and spicy but I think that’s why it appeals to me so much.

Like the other recently released Cookie Dough lip scrub, the Pumpkin Spices formula isn’t as chunky. It actually has a really soft sand-like-texture. At first I thought this would mean the lip scrub wouldn’t be as exfoliating as its lip scrub predecessors but I was left pleasantly surprised, the less-coarse formula actually works just as well, It’s almost as if the finer consistency helps the level of exfoliation go that little bit further.

A little amount of the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub goes a very, very long way. I normally always recommend using a lip balm or gloss after using a Lush lip scrub. This is because exfoliation can leave the lips a little dry but with the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub it’s so hydrating you do not need to. In simple terms the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub is the most hydrating lip scrub Lush have created yet. I am blown away!

Overall I am head over heels in love with the Pumpkin Spice lip scrub, it smells amazing, tastes delicious and works a treat, I am amazed at how hydrating it is too. Lush lip scrubs are normally only a little hydrating so Pumpkin Spice is a game changer. I’m so sad that it is only a Halloween exclusive as it really is the best lip scrub that Lush have made to date, it’s perfect.

Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs from Lush

Adam's Apple Mouthwash Tabs.png

The Mouthwash tabs are still relatively new to Lush, they first made an appearance back in August 2016 and came in 3 different flavours.

For a long time the 3 original flavours were the only ones available but fast forward to now and several other mouthwash tabs have been created and some of them released. Sticking with their fruity theme, this years Valentine’s range included a brand new flavour of mouthwash tabs, Adam’s Apple.

When I first heard of the Adam’s Apple Mouthwash Tabs I couldn’t help but wonder if its flavour and scent would be just like the fragrance of one of my all time favourite products the So White bath bomb. Although I was a little disappointed that this wasn’t the case Adam’s Apple did still have a very pleasant scent.

Directions on how to use a Lush mouthwash tab are as follows; ‘After brushing your teeth, pop one tab into the mouth and take a sip of water to start the fizz. Nibble and swish before spitting out. They can also be used throughout the day whenever you fancy a bit of oral refreshment.’

All you need is one tab and a small swig of water to aid you in the quest of quick and easy oral refreshment. Freshening ones breath in-between morning and nightly brushing, has never been so easy. – I’d like to report that Adam’s Apple’s flavour was just as pleasant as its scent. There is something about its scents wetness that reminds me ever so slightly of the Once Upon A Time body lotion.

For me it tastes like super ripe, lemony, fresh and juicy pear; It actually contains spearmint, Sicilian lemon and lime oil too. Although in taste I cannot detect the spearmint I do pick it up in its scent somewhat. When I made my mum sniff it to help me describe it she however said that all she could smell was the spearmint… 🤷🏼‍♀️

It took me a little while to get my head around an oral product not being just minty as most toothpastes and mouthwashes available from companies such as Oral B or Colgate are either peppermint or spearmint only. I however warmed to Adam’s Apple after a few uses and it left my mouth fruity fresh.

While Adam’s Apple is not my favourite of the Lush mouthwash tabs flavour wise, they do, do a really good job at refreshing your mouth. It’s nice to have something so different from the masses on offer.

I can’t wait for Lush to release even more mouthwash tabs. There were several at the 2018 showcase on display (but not available to purchase) that I’d really like to get my hands on in the not so distant future!
