Tropical Co-Mingle Body Scrub from Lush

The first Co-Mingle body scrub was released back in 2022. After its success, Lush decided to release another version of a Co-Mingle body scrub, the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub. Today I will be reviewing the third Co-Mingle body scrub to be released by Lush, the Tropical Co-Mingle Body Scrub.

At the time of writing this review the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub has only been available in November 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box.

Out of the 5 items in November 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box, customers will be able to vote for which ones they want to become mainline products. I have my fingers crossed that one of them is the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub as it’s my favourite of the Co-mingles so far, more customers need the chance to try it. I’d also be very pleased to get hold of a bigger pot if it does become a main line product!

The Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub is described by Lush as a ‘tropical scented three-in-one.’ It exfoliates, cleanses, and moisturises your skin all at the same time. After the success of both the original Co-Mingle and Sticky Dates Co-Mingle, I was eager to give the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub a go.

The Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub shares its scent with the Cyclops bubble bar and SpongeBob bath bomb. The best way I can describe its scent is as a rich passion fruit like fragrance.

I have seen several customers say that with it being so fruity, it may be more appropriate as a Summer product. I am however happy to use it all year round but do understand what they mean.

With the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub being a three-in-one product it has a lot of ingredients in it; the scrubby element of it comes from the tagua nut powder. Alongside that, the Tropical Co-Mingle also contains a super-moisturising amount of fairtrade cocoa and shea butter as well as cypress leaf infusion, almond oil, Brazil nut oil, buriti oil, buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil, sweet wild orange oil and fresh pineapple juice.

Consistency-wise, the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub is a little different from the other Co-Mingles; It is not as sloppy and has more of a dried-butter-icing feel to it (see above photo).

A very small amount of the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub goes a long way, but I am gutted that the Lush Kitchen only gave us a 100g pot of it in the Lush Kitchen subscription box. I really do need more so have my fingers crossed it comes back as a permanent product soon.

To use, I scoop out about 3 fingers worth and that easily does my whole body, twice over. Unlike the original two Co-Mingles I find Tropical Co-Mingle incredibly scrubby, I think this is the main reason why I like it the most out of the 3 Lush have created thus far.

When I first got some out of the pot, I thought it felt really creamy and wasn’t expecting much scrub wise HOWEVER, the longer I rubbed it into my skin the scrubbier it seemed to get. The tagua nut powder is incredibly fine but does a perfect job of buffing away any dead skin without making your skin sore. It also washes and hydrates your skin at the same time so there’s no need for a shower gel or body lotion after using it. My skin feels smooth and looks brighter after use.

I adore all of the Co-Mingles created by Lush but I have fallen head over heels in love with the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub, it’s my favourite of the 3 and I hate to repeat myself again but it really will be a crime if Lush don’t make this body scrub a mainline product as soon as possible!

Co-Mingle Body Scrub from Lush

The Co-Mingle Body Scrub first came out back in March 2022 and has been a staple, all-year-round product ever since. Since its release I have worked my way through several pots. Spoiler alert, I love it!

Co-Mingle is sold in pots of 225g and is described on Lush’s website as a ‘3 in 1 lavender dream’, This is because Co-Mingle isn’t just any old body scrub, it’s a body scrub, moisturiser and body wash.

This 3 in 1 product is the first of its kind from Lush, when I first heard of it, I really didn’t know what to expect but was, as always, keen to give it a go.

The Co-Mingle body scrub is pastel pink and has a fluffy, light, mousse-like texture, it’s really unlike any body scrub Lush have ever released before.

Co-Mingles scent is very similar to the scent of the Deep Sleep bath bomb, it’s not quite the same but close enough for me to warrant mentioning it here. Co-Mingle contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are, vanilla pod infusion and both lavender and almond oils.

Also included in the ingredients list are ground tagua nut and bamboo, this golden duo is the secret scrubby ingredients that makes Co-Mingle such a good exfoliator.

A very small amount of the Co-Mingle body scrub goes a long way, I however ALWAYS overindulge when using it. I scoop out about 3 fingers worth and that easily does my whole body. I recommend starting off by working it into your skin slowly, this seems to get the most out of it being a scrub, moisturiser, and body wash.

The Co-Mingle body scrubs scent and gentle scrubbiness makes it perfect for me to use of a night-time especially when I struggle with restless legs. The scent calms me down and rubbing it on any part of my body that hurts really does soothe my muscles, it also seems to put an end to my muscles twitching stopping them from keeping me awake.

I mentioned earlier that the Co-Mingle body scrub is a staple, all-year-round product and I am so very grateful for this. From its release, it quickly became one of my favourite Lush products and one I always need to have a pot of.

The only other Lush product that ALWAYS helps me sleep of a night time is the Blackberry bath bomb, I’m devastated that Lush have discontinued it and am terrified that Co-Mingle will also get the chop one day.

The Co-Mingle body scrub truly is a 3 in 1 product, after using it my skin feels smoother, appears brighter and is so incredibly hydrated. There really is no need to moisturise after using it. It also cleans just as good as any shower gel or body wash.

I’m head over heels in love with Co-Mingle, it’s the type of product that made me obsessed with Lush in the first place, it’s gold dust. Anything that helps me feel as good as Co-Mingle does has a permanent place in my bathroom.

Toil and Trouble Shower Scrub from Lush

The Toil and Trouble Shower Scrub is yet another product from Lush’s huge 2022 Halloween line. Toil and Trouble isn’t just a shower scrub either; Inside the pot, sat right on top of the shower scrub you will also find 2 mini bat-shaped shower jellies too! See the series of photos below.

The Toil and Trouble scrub with jelly bats is the first of its kind so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a pot. Toil and Troubles consistency is very similar to something in between the Magic Crystals and Mamma Mia shower scrub.

Its ingredients include lavender, peppermint, orris, patchouli, sage and plenty of fine sea salt. The sea salt is the magic ingredient that makes this scrub scrubby, it is the perfect go-to product to use when you’re in need of a full-body exfoliation.

At the time of writing this review, Toil and Trouble doesn’t share a scent with any other Lush products as it’s a brand new scent. It’s rich with lavender with a sage and peppermint twist, the patchouli in it adds an autumnal aspect to the scent, in some ways it reminds me of the Lord of Misrule bath bomb and in others like the Magic bath bomb.

To use, all you must do is scoop out a small amount of scrub from the pot followed by then working it into your skin just like you would a shower gel.

A small amount of the scrub goes a very long way but please feel free to overindulge! With any exfoliator, I recommend that you pay a particular amount of special attention to any dry patches of skin that you may have, such as your knees and elbows.

What’s different about the Toil and Trouble shower scrub in comparison to the other shower scrubs by Lush is the added extras, the mini bat jellies. Lush’s website states that the jelly bats are better to use over the scrub if you are looking for a more ‘gentle cleanse’.

The shower jellies lather up well and each have lasted me about 3 showers. I decided to use them after giving myself a full-body scrub, the skin on my arms, legs and chest have never felt smoother or cleaner.

Toil and Trouble is an excellent exfoliator, not only does it buff away all of your dead, dry skin it also leaves the skin that’s left behind super hydrated too. This is a huge bonus as exfoliating can be a little harsh on your skin.

For me personally, the scrubbier a shower scrub is, the better but I know super-scrubby isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Toil and Trouble is the perfect balance of scrubby and soothing in my opinion.

I will admit, I’m a little disappointed that Lush still haven’t made a shower scrub that shares its scent with the Calacas shower gel. Calacas is not just one of my most favourite Halloween scents it is one of my most favourite Lush scents of all time.

I am mentioning the Calacas scent because there is a similarly named, Calacas scented bubble bar from Lush called Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble. Sadly, the name is the only similarity between the 2 products. Both products have completely different scents.

While I am still hoping that Lush release a Calacas scented shower scrub I did really enjoy Toil and Trouble.

The extra mini shower jellies really added to the scrub and I can see Toil and Trouble being quite popular to Lush customers that don’t have bath tubs. Not everyone would have tried shower jellies before so adding them to this scrub is a good way to introduce them to shower-jelly-reluctant customers!
