Rad Dad Shower Gel from Lush

The Rad Dad Shower Gel was first released as a part of 2021’s Father’s Day line. At the point of writing this review it has been a ridiculously long time since Lush released a new shower gel so I was incredibly excited for its release. Described by Lush as a ‘Siberian pine and orris oil bathroom treat’ I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a bottle.

Rad Dad shower gel is a beautifully dark shade of blue, sharing its scent with all of the products from the Fresh As/Needles and Pines scent-family I knew before I even tried it that it would be a firm favourite for my husband in particular, he already uses the Fresh As perfume that I got him for Christmas 2020 all the time so a shower gel with the same scent is a winner!

Rad Dad contains a long list of refreshing and stimulating ingredients, there’s Siberian fir needle, orris and tagetes oils as well as benzoin resinoid and fresh cucumber.

Its scent is very outdoorsy, rich and herbaceous. It’s refreshing but also creates a warming sensation on your skin, it’s an excellent shower gel to use after a work out or a physically demanding day.

As someone who deals with chronic pain in all of my joints and muscles, the Rad Dad shower gels stimulating effects really does help soothe my tired, aching muscles.

Consistency wise the Rad Dad shower gel is lovely and thick, much like the Hot Toddy and Bubbly shower gels. After several, most-recent, watery shower gel releases from Lush, I was pleasantly surprised when I first squirted some Rad Dad shower gel in my hands.

Rad Dad lathers quickly and the tiniest amount goes a very long way. A blob the size of a one-pound coin is more than enough to wash your whole body with.

Its scent really does come alive when combined with the hot water and steam from your shower. If you’re looking for a product that isn’t as spicy as Cinders shower gel, yet is still warming on the skin, Rad Dad is well worth a try.

The shower gels scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day. I wouldn’t say it was a particularly hydrating shower gel but it doesn’t dry out my skin at all.

Overall I am very impressed with the Rad Dad shower gel, it’s good value for money and is loved by everyone in my house. I am devastated that Rad Dad will only be available for Father’s Day as it really is one of the best shower gels Lush have released in a very long time!

Very Very Frightening Shower Gel from Lush

The Very Very Frightening Shower Gel is a brand new product created for Lush’s 2020 Halloween line. If you’re a fan of the Space Girl bath bomb you’ll be pleased to hear that the Very Very Frightening shower gel has a very similar scent. It’s practically the same, although I feel Very Very Frightening is a little zingier than the aforementioned bath bomb.

To save both myself and you, the reader, I am now going to refer to the Very Very Frightening shower gel as just VVF, I’ve got to the point where I have written the word ‘very’ in-my-blogs-notebook so many times that it doesn’t even look like a real word anymore. 😂

The VVF shower gel contains, grapefruit, bergamot, fresh lemon juice & Fig juice. For those of you who haven’t experienced the Space Girl scent before, both Space Girl and VVF’s scent is a gentle, fruity, sherbet-sweet blend that I can’t get enough of.

VVF’s gentle, sherbet-sweet scent is no trick and all treat! sharing a hot and steamy shower with it will banish away all cobwebs and bad moods. A quick wash with VVF shower gel will put a spring in your step, awaken all of your senses, leaving you feeling clean, uplifted and refreshed.

Appearance wise, the VVF’s shower gel is a very similar yellow to the Nana shower gel and Yuzu & Cocoa shower cream. As for its consistency, VVF is a lot closer to a shower gel than the aforementioned Nana; I find Nana more like a shower slime so I was super pleased to find out that the VVF shower gel was closer to how I think a shower gel should look and feel.

A little amount of VVF goes a very long way. Just a 10p sized blob is more than enough to do your whole body. Even when you use a lot, the VVF doesn’t foam up very much which I know will annoy some people. I would however like to point out that although it doesn’t foam up very much, using it does leave me feeling clean, which really is just what you want out of a shower gel!

Once out of the shower my skin appears and feels clean and brighter. I didn’t find VVF shower gel to be particularly moisturising however it didn’t leave me desperate to use a body lotion after either.

After using VVF its scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day. The scent seems to grow on me the more I use it. I’ve gone from liking it to LOVING it. It’s a shower gel that should have been made by Lush a long time ago. I’d love to see even more products come out with the Space Girl scent soon, I feel that a body spray in particular would fly off the shelves. Hint, hint, Lush! 😉

Nana Shower Gel from Lush

Nana Shower Gel

I feel perfectly safe in saying that the Nana Shower Gel is a Lush product that thousands of Lush fans have been patiently waiting for, for YEARS. Sharing its scent with the Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser, it has gone down a storm within the Lush Community.

I just can’t fathom why it’s taken Lush so long to release this absolute gem of a shower gel?!? I rarely take to new Lush products straight away but Nana shower gel had me under its spell after just one use.

Nana is a new all year round product, this means it’s with us for the long haul! YAY! so many of the latest brand-new shower gel releases such as Intergalactic and Goddess have been available for only a limited time. I’d have loved to have got a couple of extra bottles of Intergalactic but unfortunately by the time I had the funds to treat myself, they had all sold out.

As its name suggests the Nana shower gel of course has bananas in. Nana shower gel is in fact a blend of wheatgerm oil mixed in with a banana and oat decoction. I cannot smell the banana in it at all, to me it really does just smell like the aforementioned fresh facial cleanser, Let the Good Times Roll – Toffee-popcorn galore!

Nana shower gel is made with a new sulphate-free and palm-free formula giving it a similar consistency to that of a Lush shower slime, this is the only thing that I didn’t quite like about Nana. While trying to lather it up I found it really easy to drop and waste blobs of it on the shower floor, with a little practice I have gotten a tiny bit better at handling it. I would still however love to see it in a more shower-gel-like consistency some time in the future.

Although I have found the Nana shower gel quite hard to control in the shower, it does lather up well and a little amount of it goes a very long way. It’s extremely hydrating too which is perfect for my dry and often really thirsty skin.

I would normally say at this point of a shower gel that I really likes review that a body lotion equivalent (if there isn’t one) needs to be made. Don’t get me wrong, I’d adore a Nana body lotion but the Nana shower gel is so incredibly hydrating that a body lotion is not actually needed after using it. It’s a lazy persons or those pushed for times dream shower gel.

Nana’s scent really does come alive when it comes into contact with the steam and hot water in the shower, although a little amount does go a very long way I find myself wanting to use a little more than necessary because it smells that good. Overall I do really, really like Nana shower gel and I can look past its different consistency. I know we’re only in January of this year but I’m going to say here and now that I believe this shower gel will be one of the best products released by Lush this year. ✨🍿✨
