Assassin Shower Gel from Lush

The first time that I tried the Assassin Shower Gel was way back in 2017. The week before its arrival I had ordered a bottle of the Ol’ Blue Skies shower gel alongside several other items from the Lush Kitchen. Unfortunately, upon delivery my bottle of Ol’ Blue Skies was missing from my box.

I got in touch with Lush but sadly they’d run out Ol’ Blue Skies so couldn’t replace it.

Instead of getting a refund I decided to go with Lush’s suggestion of them sending out a surprise-replacement-product… Enter the Assassin shower gel!

Without this whole thing happening, I’d never normally go for a product like Assassin always opting for the brighter coloured, fruiter shower gels.

This is what makes Assassin so special to me, had this accident never have happened I wouldn’t have ever got to try and enjoy the Assassin shower gel. If I’m being perfectly honest, I actually prefer it over the Ol’ Blue Skies shower gel.

If you like the earthy more natural smelling products such as the Grass shower gel then the Assassin shower gel would be a good choice for you. The Assassin shower gel is a dark shade of leafy-green and has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency.

The Assassin shower gel contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are oakmoss absolute and the following essential oils, cypress, Sicilian lemon, and patchouli.

Its scent isn’t an easy one to describe, it’s green and fresh just like a pine forest. Elements of it really make me think of the Tramp Lush scent family, it’s like the Grass scent blended with the Tramp scent.

Its scent really reminds me of my grandad, I’m not sure what aftershave he used to use (I know it wasn’t Lush) but there’s something about the oakmoss ingredient that always makes me feel like I’m sat next to him on the sofa watching his favourite tv shows again. If you like non-synthetic more natural scents, then the Assassin shower gel would be a good choice for you.

The Assassin shower gel lathers up easily and a very small amount of it goes a long way. Mixed in with the steam and hot-shower-water the scent really comes to life, if you shut your eyes, it’s as if you’re actually showering in a forest.

Once out of the shower the Assassin scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it’s so strongly scented too. Why Lush haven’t made this into a perfume is a mystery. It leaves my skin clean, fresh, and ready to take on the day.

Overall, I love the Assassin shower gel, it’s not my normal go-to scent but I’m so glad I was sent it. I’ve heard rumours that it may be a product in April 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box, I have my fingers crossed!

Golden Egg Shower Gel from Lush

The Golden Egg Shower Gel is a brand-new, limited-edition, Easter product that first became available in the UK at the start of March 2023. Interestingly, Golden Egg isn’t the first shower gel that Lush have released in its scent. You’ll recognise its scent if you’ve ever tried the It’s Raining Men/Honey I Washed the Kids shower gels before.

The difference between the Golden Egg and Honey I Washed the Kids shower gels (apart from the sparklingly obvious) is that Golden Egg is vegan. I am so happy for all of the vegan customers that now get to try this shower gel, it’s been something Lush customers have been asking for, for a very long time.

As you can see from the photographs I have included in this review, the Golden Egg shower gel is the most sparkly shower gel Lush have ever released.

The Golden Egg shower gel is liquid gold, just looking at how bright and sparkly it is in the bottle is mesmerising. The Golden Egg shower gel contains bergamot and Brazilian orange oils, its scent is simply delicious. It’s a sweet honey-like fragrance with hints of caramel. Some products I have reviewed that share its scent are the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb and most recently the Golden Angel bubble bar.

This truly beautiful shower gel isn’t as thick as the other most recent shower gels to have been released by Lush so I recommend giving the bottle a good shake before using it.

Golden Egg shower gel comes out of the bottle easily and a little amount of it goes a long way. You only need the smallest amount of it to wash your whole body. Seeing it so sparkly in your hand, I wouldn’t blame anyone for using a little more than is necessary! I recommend lathering the Golden Egg shower gel up slowly to get the best out of it, it isn’t incredibly foamy, but it cleans your skin with ease.

The Golden Egg shower gels scent really shines through when it comes together with the hot water and steam of your shower. Unfortunately, the scent doesn’t last for very long on your skin after use, BUT it does leave my skin clean, appearing brighter, feeling softer and is also actually quite hydrating.

If you have read my review on the Love shower gel, you’ll know how disappointed I was for all of the UK customers that couldn’t get it in a bottle (Lush UK decided that the UK would only be offered the sphere options). I am thanking the Lush gods that Lush decided to scrap the spheres as I’d have been devastated to miss out on this bottled shower gel.

There has never been a more beautiful shower gel from Lush. It looks, smells, and feels magnificent. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lush decided to retire the Honey I Washed the Kids shower gel only to replace it with the Golden Egg shower gel. I know some people think I’m crazy for getting so excited over a shower gel but it really is so good, I cannot recommend it enough!

Grass Shower Gel from Lush

Grass Shower Gel has been available from Lush on and off for well over 10 years and has very recently come back again as an all-year-round product. Most recently the Grass scent featured in 2023’s Lunar-New-Year bath bomb, Gold Rabbit. With Gold Rabbit being so popular it has introduced new customers to the Grass scent while also reuniting older customers with it too.

All of the customers that cannot get enough of the bath bomb have been pointed in the direction of the shower gel and yet again, it’s flying off of the shelves. Some of the photos in this review I actually took back in 2018, it’s taken me a while to get around to reviewing it but better late than never!

The Grass shower gel is a khaki green colour, it’s quite a thin formula compared to a lot of the newer released shower gels, so I recommend giving the bottle a little shake before using it.

The Grass shower gel contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are the following essential oils, sandalwood, bergamot and neroli. Also included in it is plenty of fresh wheatgrass juice and fine sea salt.

The scent is best described as being very similar to freshly cut grass. It’s earthy, fresh, and warm. Every time I get a whiff of it, I am transported to a beautiful summer’s day, I can hear birds singing and the neighbour’s lawn mower mowing away in the distance. Grass shower gel has a warmth to it that makes me think of the sun which instantly makes me happy too.

If you like non-synthetic more natural scents (AKA not Snow Fairy shower gel) then the Grass shower gel would be a good choice for you. It has a beautiful calming fragrance and thanks to the neroli oil in it, it brightens your mood too.

The Grass shower gel lathers up easily and a very small amount of it goes a long way. Mixed in with the steam and hot-shower-water the scent really comes to life, it’s literally like you’re showering outside, freshly cut grass under your feet.

Once out of the shower the Grass scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, although it is not as strong on your skin as it is straight out of the bottle it is still noticeable. It leaves your skin clean and looking and feeling refreshed.

Overall, I love the Grass shower gel and am very glad to have it back in my life, it always seems to sell well so I don’t understand why Lush took it away, let’s hope that this time round it is here to stay!
