The Afterlife Bath Bomb from Lush

Alongside the recent release of the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice film, Lush have created a limited edition collection that’s as bold and quirky as the film itself; Enter the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice X Lush collaboration!

Today I am reviewing, The Afterlife Bath Bomb after Lush kindly sent me it to try out.

The Afterlife bath bomb looks very similar to the Intergalactic bath bomb but instead of blue, pink and yellow it is black, green and purple.

I admit, I haven’t had a chance to watch the new film yet, but I am hopefully seeing it next week as I am eager to see what’s been going on in the Beetlejuice universe since the first film came out a few years before I was born!

Each of the, The Afterlife bath bombs are approximately 185g each fitting snuggly in my hand.

Any fans of the Grape Soda body spray will be pleased to hear that the, The Afterlife bath bomb shares the same scent.

The Afterlife bath bomb isn’t the only bath bomb that has been released with the Grape Soda Lush-scent-family this year either; Back at the very start of 2024, the UK version of the Big Squeeze bath bomb also shared the Grape Soda scent

The Afterlife bath bomb contains some of the following ingredients, juniperberry oil, sweet wild orange oil and plenty of popping candy.

The Grape Soda Lush-scent-family is best described as smelling like candied sour grape. It’s quite an artificial scent but not at all unpleasant.

When I reviewed the body spray equivalent, I did a little research on actual Grape Soda (which is the drink that inspired the Lush fragrance).

It’s a very popular drink in the USA but not as popular here in the UK, however, the body spray and this bath bomb seem to be flying off of the shelves everywhere it has been released so this may just change!

As soon as the, The Afterlife bath bomb touches your bath water, you are greeted with an explosion of black, green and purple foam. I couldn’t quite believe just how pigmented all of the colours were even in the water.

The foam is so vivid and bright throughout; The spooky, clashing colours really drags you into the world of Bettlejuice.

Once in the bath, the popping candy in the, The Afterlife bath bomb doesn’t take long to make its presence known.

In fact, the popping candy continued its show, popping away right until the last drop of water disappeared down the plug hole. I don’t think I’ve ever used a bath bomb with this much popping candy before.

The bath art from the, The Afterlife bath bomb is similar to the bath art created by the Intergalactic bath bomb that I mentioned earlier, just with the, The Afterlife bath bombs colours instead.

It took about seven minutes for The Afterlife bath bomb to fully dissolve. The water left behind looks black but is actually just an incredibly dark shade of purple.

The scent is intense but softens somewhat on your skin. I think I prefer the scent of it on my skin once I am out of the bath over the bold scent it is while floating in your bath water.

Overall, I am very impressed with this bath bomb, it left my skin bright, soft and hydrated. The only aspect of it that I have found disappointing is the fact it’s a collaboration product so once it’s gone, it’s gone. I’m going to miss it very much!

Batcurrant Lip Scrub from Lush

The Batcurrant Lip Scrub is one of two brand-new lip scrubs from Lush’s colossal 2024 Halloween line.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. To this day I am still lost for words that such a simple and natural mix of ingredients can do such a great job at exfoliating. It really does make me question why other cosmetic companies ever actively chose to use micro-plastics in their exfoliation products.

Lush’s lip scrubs are ridiculously underrated, if you’re on the fence about giving them a go I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

I use Lush lip scrubs almost every day so whenever a new one comes out, I always make sure I grab a pot.Using Lush lip scrubs requires a minimum amount of effort, and they cover everything your lips need to always look and feel their best.

They are the perfect product to exfoliate dry or chapped lips, and most are also very good at softening and hydrating them at the same time. Exfoliating your lips has so many benefits and thanks to Lush, it has never been easier to do.

As well as caster sugar, the Batcurrant lip scrub also contains some of the following ingredients: Organic jojoba oil, fairtrade shea butter, organic cold pressed grapeseed oil, blackcurrant absolute, coriander seed oil and davana oil.

Batcurrant has a brand new Lush scent that is delicious, both scent and taste wise. The blackcurrant absolute is probably the ingredient that comes through the strongest, it’s very fruity but has a really strong sourness to it too.

To use, simply scoop out a pea sized amount of the lip scrub with your finger then buff it on your lips. Once you’ve buffed them to your desired amount simply lick off any excess product.

Lush’s lip scrubs are obviously not meant to be eaten; BUT if a little amount of the lip scrub does accidently end up in your mouth while you are scrubbing your lips, you don’t need to worry!

The Batcurrant lip scrub is a bold shade of Cadbury purple. It has a mixture of fine and slightly chunkier grains of caster sugar.

When it comes to lip scrubs, I tend to favour the lighter (or more natural to actual lip-colour) ones, over the brightly coloured ones.

This is because once a very long time ago, I used a little too much of the bright blue, Galaxy lip scrub. It left a very slight blue tinge on my lips. Since, I have been wary and now only use a pea sized amount each time I use a lip scrub.

I am pleased to report that during use, I haven’t had any purple colour transfer from the Batcurrant lip scrub at all. As for its juicy sourness, again, I think it is comparable to the lip scrub I just mentioned, Galaxy. Yummy!

After using the lip scrub my lips feel smoother and I also find the formula very hydrating, its scent/taste fits right into the candy theme of Halloween.

Overall, I love the Batcurrant lip scrub, it’s probably my favourite lip scrub that Lush have produced this year. I’d love to see an expansion on this Lush scent. A lip balm, body scrub or body spray would be delightful!

I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb from Lush (2024)

The original I Want My Mummy bath bomb was a part of Lush’s Halloween line back in 2022; Fast forward to 2024 and the I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb has come back but with some strikingly new features.

The most obvious difference in this year’s version is the addition of the colour pink. 2022’s was all white and this years is a mixture of white and pink.

Lush have also decided to give this version of the bath bomb a completely different scent, altering the scent of a product that was already well-loved is always a gamble. Lush took the same chance with the Magic Potion Bath Bomb (2024) this year and unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan, I however kept an open mind for the new version of I Want My Mummy…

Playing up to the theme of Halloween, the I Want My Mummy bath bomb is designed to look like a mummy (and not the motherly-figure type) this mummy is the zombie wrapped in bandages type. Considering it’s replicating a resurrected dead body covered in bandages, it’s actually quite cute!

Another thing that’s very different about the 2024 version of the I Want My Mummy bath bomb is that it glows in the dark. Just like the Glow In The Dark shower gel, simply charge the bath bomb under some light before switching the light off to see it glow.

I am guessing this is why Lush decided to add the colour pink to this bath bomb, this way the white bits of the bath bomb really pop when made to glow in the dark!

This years I Want My Mummy bath bomb shares its scent with the Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb, its scent is sharp and zesty with a subtle woody undertone. It’s a lively and refreshing fragrance, which fits right into the whole theme of being brought back from the dead…

Some of the ingredients included in this bath bomb are lime oil, sweet wild orange oil, olibanum resinoid and the magical ingredient that makes it glow in the dark once charged, luminescent zinc-sulfide!

As soon as the I Want My Mummy bath bomb touches the water there is an explosion of pink spreading outwards from the bath bomb in foamy waves. The pink foam slowly thins out as the bath bomb slowly dissolves.

The I Want My Mummy bath bomb takes about 10 minutes to completely dissolve. The water left behind is a cloudy pink; To look at, it reminds me of the pink, fruit-and-barley, summer fruits squash that I used to drink when I was a kid.

The scent of the I Want My Mummy bath bomb lasts throughout your entire bath and remains on your skin for a good few hours after you get out too. My skin felt hydrated and appeared brighter after a long soak in its waters as well.

Overall, I did really enjoy the new-style, I Want My Mummy bath bomb. Like I said earlier, changing a previously released product (even a little bit) is always a gamble but I feel the I Want My Mummy bath bomb was different enough to its older version that I could see past all of the changes and appreciate it as if it’s a whole new bath bomb.
