Love Potion Bath Bomb from Lush

The Love Potion Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Valentine’s Day line.

Weighing in at approximately 75g each, the Love Potion bath bomb is even smaller than the Love Letter bath bomb from the same line.

Through my love of Lush and their world-famous bath bombs, I have however learnt that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. I never judge a bath bomb on first look as the plainer ones can often give you the best of surprises during use.

The Love Potion is just that, a bath bomb designed to resemble a mini potion bottle. The Love Potion bath bomb is not to be confused with the Magic Potion bath bomb, both are very different, the only thing they have in common are their potion names.

This dark violet, magical potion shaped bottle is decorated with a sprinkling of white and light pink miniature love hearts.

The Love Potion bath bomb contains Sicilian red Mandarin oil, almond essential oil, orris root powder, wafer paper, candy hearts and a generous helping of popping candy.

Lush’s website explains why some of the ingredients in the Love Potion were chosen; For example, orris root powder is supposedly known for its magical use of finding and holding onto love… If you believe in the power of the orris root, it’s definitely worth a try!

The Love Potion bath bomb’s scent is a powdery, fruity-sweet mixture, on first sniff I can smell a candy-like blend of strawberry and raspberry. Strangely, it actually really reminds me of one of my childhood toys, a scented My Little Pony.

As soon as the Love Potion bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a hiss of violet coloured foam with flecks of blue in. The popping candy kicks in almost immediately, crackling away as the bath bomb floats upon the bath water’s surface.

The Love Potion bath bomb doesn’t offer anything too artsy bath-art-wise, but thanks to the popping candy and violet foam that spills out of it, it does put on a beautiful show.

The small pink and white candy hearts slowly break away from the bath bomb dropping to the bottom of the bath before completely dissolving.

Amazingly, the Love Potion bath bomb took just over 10 minutes to fully dissolve, I was not expecting this considering its smaller than average size.

I didn’t realise until after I had used the Love Potion bath bomb that it also has the same silky-soft, wafer paper bits in that you’ll be familiar with if you have ever used the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb.

I found the dark violet waters left behind by the Love Potion bath bomb to be incredibly soft, a good soak in its waters left my skin silky-smooth and a lot less dry. It’s perfect for dry Winter skin but I can also see it working well in warmer months too because of its fruity fragrance.

Unfortunately, the Love Potion scent didn’t remain on my skin for very long at all but how soft it made my skin lasted right into the following day.

Overall, I think that the Love Potion bath bomb is another amazing addition to the Valentine’s Day line, I cannot recommend it enough, it may be small, but it is one of the best bath bombs from this year’s range, it has made a lasting impression on me!

Love Letter Bath Bomb from Lush

The Love Letter Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Valentine’s Day line.

Weighing in at just 85g, the Love Letter bath bomb is one of Lush’s smallest bath bombs to date BUT if there is one thing that Lush has taught me it is that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. I also never judge a bath bomb on first look as the plainer ones can often give you the best surprises in the water too…

Love Letter is just that, a bath bomb designed to look just like a love letter, this envelope shaped bath bomb is sealed with a bright pink heart, and it is decorated with a sprinkling of dissolvable love hearts just like the Love Boat bath bomb had.

The Love Letter bath bomb contains coconut milk powder, fair trade organic cocoa butter, bergamot oil, olibanum oil and geranium oil.

It shares its scent with several very popular products, Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gelPeeping Santa bubbleroon and the Strawberries and Cream bath bomb just to name a few.

Love Letter’s scent is best described as a sweet and super-creamy, strawberry scent. It’s mouth wateringly good.

As soon as the Love Letter bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss as white bubbles spill out of the bath bomb. Soon after putting it in to the water small beads of yellow cocoa butter also start to come out of the bath bomb melting into your hot water in a similar way to the Butterball bath bomb.

You’d be safe in assuming that the Love Letter bath bomb doesn’t offer anything too colourful bath-art-wise, but it does put on such a unique performance.

The dissolvable love hearts slowly break free from the bath bomb as the envelope part of the bath bomb gets taken over by the water; What I like best about the Love Letter bath bomb is that the bright pink heart is the very last bit of the bath bomb to dissolve, it’s a very clever design!

The Love Letter bath bomb takes approximately five minutes to fully dissolve which is a lot longer than I expected considering its smaller size, it turns your bath water a very light lilac colour. The scent is still strong but slightly gentler once the bath bomb has fully dissolved.

I found the waters left behind by the Love Letter bath bomb to be incredibly moisturising, more so than I originally thought as I didn’t expect it to have as much cocoa butter in it as it did.

The sweet strawberry scent of the bath bomb remains in your bathroom long after you pull the plug too.

The scent can also still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath but at a much more subtle level.

Overall, I LOVE this bath bomb. It might not be the brightest or biggest bath bomb in the Valentine’s Day line BUT the attention Lush have put into all of its little details really shines through, especially during use.

The scent and the fact that the pink heart is the last part of the bath bomb to disappear makes for such a unique bathing experience, I really hope this bath bomb comes back every Valentine’s day as it’s brilliant!

Kiss Me Quick Shower Jelly from Lush

The Kiss Me Quick Shower Jelly is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2024 Valentine’s Day line. Designed to look just like a big, juicy pair of lips I couldn’t wait to give it a try in the shower.

Kiss Me Quick is a fairly small, darker red shower jelly. at just 85g, it fits perfectly in my hand making it very easy to use.

The Kiss Me Quick shower jelly contains fresh strawberry juice, fair trade aloe vera gel, clove bud oil, mimosa absolute and tonka absolute.

It shares its scent with the Kiss Me Quick wash card from Lush’s 2018 Valentine’s line. Straight out of the pot it’s an intensely sweet strawberry like fragrance.

With Kiss Me Quick being a novelty shaped shower jelly, I wondered how long it would last as unfortunately I find more often than not, that the novelty shaped jellies aren’t always as sturdy and robust as the normal pot shaped ones.

As predicted, the Kiss Me Quick shower jelly did begin falling apart after just a few uses. However, I’d rather use it and lose it than not use it at all! So far, I’ve used it 3 times and although it is showing wear and tear, there’s plenty more to go around yet.

There is no right or wrong way to use a shower jelly, I prefer to use mine in the same way as you would a bar of soap, whole. Some people however chop their shower jellies up using a few pieces at a time, this is a good method if you’re sharing it with someone else.

If you do keep it whole, as I mentioned above, the Kiss Me Quick shower jelly is just the right size to fit snuggly in your hand. It is a lot easier to keep a hold of in the shower being this size. Once you’ve used it simply rinse it off and then pop it back into the pot until you next want to use it.

The Kiss Me Quick shower jelly lathers up quickly, once you have enough of it in your hands pop the shower jelly back in its pot and start to rub your hands together, this is the point where the shower jellies residue turns super milky. A very small amount of it goes a long way, I think I only lathered up the shower jelly in my hands 3 or 4 times before placing it back in the pot.

As I stated earlier, The Kiss Me Quick shower jellies scent is quite intense. As soon as you take the pots lid off, you are hit with its strawberry fragrance BUT in use, the scent seems to change somewhat. Mixed alongside the hot water and steam of the shower, the clove bud oil seems to take over making it a spicy strawberry scent. On paper, it sounds like a spicy strawberry wouldn’t work, yet it does!

After using the Kiss Me Quick shower jelly my skin feels soft, warm, and perfectly refreshed. The clove bud oil in it has made it one of my favourite Winter products. It warms and soothes my cold achy muscles just as well as the likes of the Hot Toddy shower gel.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Kiss Me Quick shower jelly a lot more than I thought I would, it’s such a unique fragrance, fruity yet spicy. I’d love to see it released in other product formats in the future.
